Just a PSA because this video is gaining a lot of interest lately in 2017! Maphackers have become very rare (despite what some very loud people might tell you), especially at the higher levels of the game. While they still exist (I haven't even seen a suspicious one in months) it is very unlikely you are playing any because Blizzard's quick updates make keeping hacks current in LOTV difficult to the point of nearly impossible. I hope you enjoyed the video, and seriously, hackers/hacking is a minuscule concern in modern starcraft 2 (2017)
Am i the only one who'd wish they could see the entire chat? Anyway wp. I stopped playing myself a long time ago, but i still enjoy watching other people play it at higher lvl's. Shouldn't you and Lowko have a Best of 5 match some day, just for the giggles?
Why only play vs AI ? Against human players s way more fun, since you never know what they are gonna do. Especially on the lower ranks you are gonna see some crazy tactics ;)
richard feynman practice and fear of embarrassment, I had the same problem when I played sc2, I loved watching these guys play but I suck at the game, don't want to make a fool out of myself because I don't have the time to put into it.
You get matched with people who are about as good as you are. A lot of Starcraft 2 multiplayer is about letting your ego drop and just play and improve yourself. To me that's the beauty of the game. It's easy to see why you win or lose.
I used to be a GM maphacker in SC2, I got Master rank 1 before I started doing it so I got GM easily. I then started to face professionals and duo with Garudo idk if you remember him (rank 1 GM.) Good times to look back on but, honestly, maphacking made me worse at the game. My name was Winter.
This is what got me into Winter 2 years ago, have yet to regret it. I now listen to some of his music, I have better sense of humor and free speaking/english skills and am a much better StarCraft player. Thank you so much, this is still an awesome match.
What a game! Always glad to see justice served, especially by outright crushing him like that. It's crazy how well you're able to adapt your build to confuse him- keep on being fucking amazing, Winter!
Always nice seeing a dirty cheater lose. Back in the beginning days of HoTS I beat a auto-blink cheater without even knowing he was cheating till several months later. Felt really proud of myself after I found out. Turned out later he was banned from SC2 after going against a GrandMaster smurf :)
I hope Lowko is not the one commentating in that match. His voice... it's too much. I can't handle it at any time of day. He can never leave a silent pause...
Well, I guess the information that he is maphacking and the following preparement helped you out quite a lot. Like a own maphack ;D Thank you for beating the shit out of a hacker. Very good feeling seeing someone with such a huge advantage still getting beaten.
When Wings of Liberty was fresh, like a year old or so, I played a match, TvP with me as Terran. At about 3 minutes my opponent all-in'ed with a mothership, a dozen void rays and all kinds of units. Ridiculous moment, but I will never forget the sheer level of astonishment I felt. :D He obviously was a hacker, but it was funny nonetheless.
tomcatfdynasty not to mention the guy knew when he was weakest and tried to attack but when he saw he was making a lot of units to defend immediately retreated. it's pretty low
Think the issue with hackers is that they have too much information which hinders them and even if they are able to make use of it, they wait til the enemy acts before doing anything.. thats not very helpful to them.
+benjamin tower there is a hotkey to swith betwen bases, in default it is [Backspace] but when you play on Grid key setting is better to hotkey this option on spacebar
+Christian ”Luc” Mccrea That is ingame tournaments that automatically hosts every 2 hour. You don't gain anything buy ladder points and a thropie =) Good and fun thing blizzard made
+Christian “Luc” Mccrea it's not that easy to ban a hacker. Just because a ton of players report him doesn't mean he's going to be banned. The company has to find enough evidence that he is in fact cheating the game in order to ban him otherwise anybody could get banned simply because they were reported. Say you won like 10-20 matches in a row and people call you a cheat and report you. But you won them all without cheating. It would be unfair if you got banned simply for being good at the game.
+Christian “Luc” Mccrea Winter also views the other player's account while on the stream, he had a few hundred matches that was all; the account was never meant to last apparently Don;t know why people would bother though
Somebody who has hacked his game so he sees everything through the fog of war. Basically, he knew exactly where is opponent is and what he is building at all time. Since Starcraft is heavily based on scouting and countering with specific units, having such advantage generally means an easy victory
They are the routes his army units will take, as well as their designated destination upon being built. They are connected between his hatches because he has all the hatches in the same control group and has set the same location for all of them
It allows you to see the entire map without FoW, the enemy's production and stealthed units (but you won't be able to attack without revealing them). Sowi for the one year answer, I just saw the video xD
LOL, totaly true. ever since the LOV update there has been non stop hackers, and theirs no way to beat em unless your really good at tricking em. you can tell the map hackers easy in 3v3 when the other team has 2 fake accounts.
Every game he is able to tell what other opponent is doing without scouting. Many GM players pm winter beware of this player. So you have to beware that every early attack or 4 players map will put him behind because this player knows everything what other opponent doing without scouting. Especially, 4 players map will lose a lot of time to scouting to located hackers base at the same time you need to watch out for proxy all in. Either way will put you behind. That's why winter assume he knows everything which he does. Map hacker defend himself very well on every winters surprise attack and able to tell where ling are position. In this video, the map hacker defend himself perfectly. Blindly go for 4 expansion like he already know winter had 4 expansion. Zergling on right side of the map like he already knew those zergling haven't sent home. The only thing he didn't know is 4 base Zerg able out macro Protoss. Whereas Protoss doesn't spawn 50 units from 4 base Zerg. You probably need 50 structure to spawn that much unit but that's not how Protoss race played. Anyway just read other GM players pm chat who played him before and think about what would you do when you play against player like this. 1 video might be not enough prove however winter post a description confirmed with several GM players who played him before.
lol, still, you had the response in the video, Winter clearly mentioned that the other player could at least see whats going on on the mini map and the production tab. Then you just had to contrast this with his behaviour. 2 very clear moments: 1) When he was moving in to attack yet backed up after Winter started producing a huge bunch of units. He backed off even before those came into play, so that could confirm he knew they were in production and he wouldnt succeed (no scout in Winters base so he couldnt have seen that) --> might confirm production tab part. 2) Later on he always knew where Winters zerglins were moving to, coming from. Sure, a clever guy could intuitively guess it, but yeah. Add in the 3) he never sent any scouts, ever, yet was pretty on top of what Winter was doing. In Short, just by watching and listening to the comments, it was answered ;-)
If you notice the chat behind his chair, he was informed by the cheaters former opponent, and it's also said that "everyone" knows that he's a cheater. Not to mention the rather suspicious army movements.
+deathasleep From this game alone - He doesn't scout at all, but still knows when winter was at his weakest, and he keeps cutting off winters lings without having an observer on them. He just knows too much without ever scouting.
I still don't get how he was hacking. I mean just because he didn't send any scouting proves, or made good moves that countered winter's move doesn't mean he's hacking. Not everyone sends scouting probes, and some people just have luck. Could someone tell me how he was hacking ?
When he was attacking the Winter's base, he immediately retreat when he saw that Winter had a lot of units in production to defend. Also, he always knew where the Winter's zerglings were, even he not having vision of they. And he tried to counter Winter units (Immortals to counter Roachs, Archons to counter Zerglings and Hydras, etc), but he dont sent any probe to scout and know what units he was making
he did not scout with a probe, witch you do in every single game above silver league, he did not have any vision of winters units, yet he does know where they are an dis able to position his so that winter can not attack, he tries to go for an attack just after a HUGE drone up from winter, at a point when he has little to no army, and immiditly backs off when winter ques up 15 reaches and more lings. also his early game was focused entirely on that little bridge and he had no unit in any other place, because winters lings only camped that bridge. in a normal game you have to cover way way more ground in first 5 minutes than this "master league" player did in entire match
If you know anything about SC2 I think you can spot it quite easily by this match alone. Hell, WInter even calls it out when he is moving with the lings to attack the 3rd/4th the protoss units were already moving even though the lings would not be in his vision yet normally. And he did that twice in a row.
Just a PSA because this video is gaining a lot of interest lately in 2017! but what if your name is avilo
Am i the only one who'd wish they could see the entire chat?
Anyway wp. I stopped playing myself a long time ago, but i still enjoy watching other people play it at higher lvl's. Shouldn't you and Lowko have a Best of 5 match some day, just for the giggles?
You look alot more calm playing nowadays. Very stressed looking here bro. Good thing though
fuck off
And thats why "Cheating only gets you so far."

Xeno _ tf2, nice
Went from losing to medium ai to crushing harder and going toe-to-toe with elite ai's thanks to you man, love your vids, got yourself a loyal sub.
Why only play vs AI ? Against human players s way more fun, since you never know what they are gonna do. Especially on the lower ranks you are gonna see some crazy tactics ;)

Or he could only have the starter edition and wants to see if he is going to put in the effort before buying the game
I was the same but then I tried 1vs1 with player! It seems I'm not so bad.
You get matched with people who are about as good as you are. A lot of Starcraft 2 multiplayer is about letting your ego drop and just play and improve yourself. To me that's the beauty of the game. It's easy to see why you win or lose.
Never have I wanted Winter to beat someone as much as this guy. A fist pump was made when the game was won. GG.
came for starcraft, stayed for drum n bass
too bad he ain't got no HACK-ro to match yo' MAC-ro!
in french we would say "tu en as fais t-RO"
You alright there, majinkakashi20?
I used to be a GM maphacker in SC2, I got Master rank 1 before I started doing it so I got GM easily. I then started to face professionals and duo with Garudo idk if you remember him (rank 1 GM.) Good times to look back on but, honestly, maphacking made me worse at the game. My name was Winter.
Ah, this video is so nostalgic. Seeing that mothership core is a blast from the past.
It is... Good times lol
Vwp Winter, he was clearly letting his hacking get in the way of his Macro ;)
Some of the songs I recognized if you're interested:

I so wish I could see his face at the end... sigh
NSA LMFAO!
Is it just me, or do you guys really want to see LowkoTV and WinkterStarcraft face off 1v1 zerg??!?!?!?!
By the way, insane game man! :D
id think this guy would win.....
Ryan G i put 100 on lowko
No way lowko wins that.
I hope Lowko is not the one commentating in that match.
His voice... it's too much. I can't handle it at any time of day. He can never leave a silent pause...
You don't seem to understand what the job of commentator entails...
just get avilo on the scene
Well, I guess the information that he is maphacking and the following preparement helped you out quite a lot. Like a own maphack ;D
Thank you for beating the shit out of a hacker. Very good feeling seeing someone with such a huge advantage still getting beaten.
Really, RUclips? 5 years later?!
Great content, Winter. Big fan.
WINTER MAN YOURE SUCH A GOD FOR TAKING ON A REAL LIFE MAP HACKER! NOT ONLY THAT BUT HE IS CONFIRMED!!!
video lags about 2 seconds behind the audio, is that due the the stream delay or... is it just me?
When Wings of Liberty was fresh, like a year old or so, I played a match, TvP with me as Terran.
At about 3 minutes my opponent all-in'ed with a mothership, a dozen void rays and all kinds of units. Ridiculous moment, but I will never forget the sheer level of astonishment I felt. :D
He obviously was a hacker, but it was funny nonetheless.
I love seeing a cheater shut down. I know this is old but I still had a nerdgasm watching it.
Winter, how did you know he was hacking? Like what are the signs?
+tomcatfdynasty bump this?
The guy never sent any scouts to scope his base, and kept moving units in front of his small group before he should have been able to see it.
tomcatfdynasty not to mention the guy knew when he was weakest and tried to attack but when he saw he was making a lot of units to defend immediately retreated. it's pretty low
You can have very big doubts when you are never taking your opponent off guards.
Also you HAVE to watch replay to be sure because of protoss have obs.
Defo, I reckon the majority of "map hacks" are really just people who make good use of obs =P
that was goddamn impressive work.
This was the best game I've seent you play Boss!
Hey winter : SPAWN MORE OVERLORDS ;)
You deserve that grandmaster. Nice video.
nice one, man. if you know he knows...you dont waste resources on harrassment. good job
ELI5: How does map hacking works? How do you understand if someone is doing that? Does it work in all maps?
Basically your fighting an insane computer
check the replay in his perspective and see if you can see the obvious haxing
Amazing work! keep it up Winter !
you gotta change the position of your chat or your video, when you are not ingame.
What makes you say that this protoss is a hacker ?
what is maphacking ?
good timings you set him up well
Think the issue with hackers is that they have too much information which hinders them and even if they are able to make use of it, they wait til the enemy acts before doing anything.. thats not very helpful to them.
How is possible 2 pkay with maphack in starcraft
Hey man ur videos are cool.. do u ever play nexus wars 2 one lane with caging?
how does he bounce form hatch to hatch when they are all hotkeyed on one slot?
+benjamin tower there is a hotkey to swith betwen bases, in default it is [Backspace] but when you play on Grid key setting is better to hotkey this option on spacebar
+ShadekPL wow thanks
Base camera key works so do location hotkeys.
"Pretty much we are trying to out-macro".
--> Floating 700 minerals and supply block :D
nicely done anyway ;)
Good strats, good info.
Can you give the replay to download?
Is there a replay for this game?
nothing more satisfying than beating a cheater
How did he map hack?
why and how did you knew he had maphack?
I don't know much of anything about tournaments, but why is he allowed to play??
+Christian ”Luc” Mccrea That is ingame tournaments that automatically hosts every 2 hour. You don't gain anything buy ladder points and a thropie =)
Good and fun thing blizzard made
+Karl Pryssgård shouldn't there still be a way to have a blizzard employee ban a hacker?
+Christian “Luc” Mccrea You would think that, wouldn't you?
+Christian “Luc” Mccrea it's not that easy to ban a hacker. Just because a ton of players report him doesn't mean he's going to be banned. The company has to find enough evidence that he is in fact cheating the game in order to ban him otherwise anybody could get banned simply because they were reported. so what exactly is a map hacker?
Somebody who has hacked his game so he sees everything through the fog of war. Basically, he knew exactly where is opponent is and what he is building at all time. Since Starcraft is heavily based on scouting and countering with specific units, having such advantage generally means an easy victory
it's pretty obvious really, MAP, HACKER! i mean, come on use your brain.
Sweet macro. Too bad about teh Warren tho. Were you going for a 3 base timing or a 4 anyway? That sixth minute YikE!
good video even though it's not as relevant today, lookit baby winter!
winter, your an inspiration.
Dude! I want your DnB playlist :DD
New player here, what are those lines linking his hatches? The white ones
They are the routes his army units will take, as well as their designated destination upon being built. They are connected between his hatches because he has all the hatches in the same control group and has set the same location for all of them
map hack? is that where he has no fog of war?
+michaelchipz he got rekt :) so it sounded like he could see his unit production & units on mini map thats fucked up
It allows you to see the entire map without FoW, the enemy's production and stealthed units (but you won't be able to attack without revealing them). Sowi for the one year answer, I just saw the video xD
302 APM on this - This really shows macro (and micro!) at its best. Grats, Winter!
That's a random data point from the end of the game, winter tends to average around 250 with zerg
LOL, totaly true. ever since the LOV update there has been non stop hackers, and theirs no way to beat em unless your really good at tricking em. you can tell the map hackers easy in 3v3 when the other team has 2 fake accounts.
Really upset I couldn't read the chat.
u used his maphack against him.....so damn smart dude
that was sick
Special Tactics.
So satisfying
What does macrogame mean?
a longer, more economic game instead of a micro intensive aggresive game. micro refering to micromanaging your units for max effectiveness
Was the guy stream sniping or he just had a good instinct
How do you know he is hacking? Anyone please explain?

What is your APM??
What was his (the hackers) APM??
WELL FUCKING PLAYED. bait zerglings bait bait bait.
Haha cheater lost good job Winter.
How did you know he was cheating before the match started ?
If you notice the chat behind his chair, he was informed by the cheaters former opponent, and it's also said that "everyone" knows that he's a cheater.
Not to mention the rather suspicious army movements.
Song name at10:25 ?? Plz and ty (:
We won't be Alone (ft. Laura Brehm) - Feint
wow gj winter
How can you tell he's hacking I can't but that might be cause I'm a noob.
how do we know he's maphacking?
+deathasleep From this game alone - He doesn't scout at all, but still knows when winter was at his weakest, and he keeps cutting off winters lings without having an observer on them. He just knows too much without ever scouting.
+deathasleep Well besides the fairly obvious gameplay, pretty sure the people from the previous matches messaged him about it.
+deathasleep or you look at the description ^^
+paul y or you look at the name of the video
izikblu well, the title just claims he does, the description atleast... describes this claim (still no prove i guess?, although i DO believe it)
12:19 the face of a true victor
how is your green color so pronounced? bright? visable? what ever have you
like a boss gj
all these 5 year old videos popping up in my stream and everyone looks like a baby. Have I aged that much?
(from multiple top tier players outside myself, as I am not even a pro player)
Lol you may not be one but my god u should be one
I used to be a GM maphacker in SC2, I got Master rank 1 before I started doing it so I got GM easily. I then started to face professionals and duo with Garudo IDK if you remember him (rank 1 GM.) Good times to look back on but, honestly, maphacking made me worse at the game. My name was Winter.
Sad thing that SC2 is full of hackers and Blizzard it is incompentent to do something.
winter you're the fucking boss
dad
Smack his was up....subbed
I really don't see how he was cheating. he probably just had some observers lying around?
Are u jokeing.
nice music
gg good job man
Why do your videos always have unsynced audio?
dirty vs. dirtier >:D
yo just that he pretends to be korean doesnt mean he is not, many kroeans hack in order to win since they are not good enough.
What a boss
thats the difference between a good? player whos hacking and an EPIC GOD!!!
why can't silver leaguers not become hackers out of rage just cause hackers win don't mean they are good
how do you know he's cheating
Bc he know exactly how to counter everything you do without even scouting
and the others who played against him saw the same
Nice.
you should be able to out macro him because zerg race doesnt require as much macro as terran or toss. not saying it doesnt require the skills.
And he tried to counter Winter units (Immortals to counter Roachs, Archons to counter Zerglings and Hydras, etc), but he dont sent any probe to scout and know what units he was making
what makes yoiu think hes a hacking.
he did not scout with a probe, witch you do in every single game above silver league, he did not have any vision of winters units, yet he does know where they are an dis able to position his so that winter can not attack, he tries to go for an attack just after a HUGE drone up from winter, at a point when he has little to no army, and immiditly backs off when winter ques up 15 reaches and more lings. also his early game was focused entirely on that little bridge and he had no unit in any other place, because winters lings only camped that bridge.

And he did that twice in a row.
The guy that lost to the hacker also told winter before they played the final. So he had a clue that he might cheat, but the evidence is in the vid.
winter is my dad ;_; winter its me youare san
Damn Son! Lol GG.
op
