This is one of the most compact, dope, campaigns I’ve ever played. Cinematics we’re crazy. Light, fun and short. Loved it. They found the right balance between campaign and multiplayer.
Finally someone brought this up! Another reason why they should start making games with IGN difficulty so they can't complain about simple gameplay features designed to make the game challenging.
Really enjoyed this campaign as someone who got tired by the same old same old Blockbuster explosion campaign from CoD. Especially the first missions are WAAAY MORE grounded and more about being a special force soldier. There is definitely some repetitive missions, but some of the missions are insanely awesome.

8/10 for me. the armored folks and the constant steam crashes have taken me out of the immersion numerous times. the locations, graphics, and gun play are dope overall.
My only complaint is that the plot was given away from the start. If you're a gamer from 2009 you would know immediately that Shepherd is gonna betray you along with Graves' Shadow Company. But even after this the scene where he betrays you is hella badass.

Explain this to me. Every Call of duty before the reboot of Modern Warfare was just the best of the series with reused maps but every IGN review says its all fresh but when we get the best single player in the series and they decide now is the time to be over critical on it. Yeah armor enemies are still in my nightmares but past that, its a near perfect story that made me even more hyped for more.

Having just finished it, 6/10 is about right. Even just based on the characters and their arcs, they’re wasted for about 75% of the story. Alejandro carries the ensemble cause he’s the only one who is charismatic. Ghost and Soap don’t get fleshed out as characters until almost the last 3rd of the game. Gaz and Price are forgettable. And the villains, have basically zero screen time, and their motives are just “military bad guy.” It falls short of the original MW2’s legacy

At times he praises the game to an ultimate height but only to use it as an platform to shoot it down harder. Thus this review is a solid 4/10. For more reviews and insights, stick with IGN
They need to stop reviewing parts of the game and just review the whole game entirely. Even if they do a full game review later on, what would be the point of having “campaign” review and “multiplayer” review in the first place.
The campaign pays homage to everything COD. Only thing is your allies get in the way often times to your detriment. Then the difficulty spikes are insane when it comes to stealth especially in the tank mission.
This game is 9/10 if you play it as it is, a fully grounded mid-sim game with hollywood level production. Comparing it to script explosions everywhere MW of the 2000s doesnt make sense.
Really disagree with Matt on this one. Most of his problems weren’t problems for me. It had a real Sicario/True Detective vibe when at its best. It’s an easy 8 for me, one of the better COD campaigns

The story is way better than 2019 forgetful story.
That Alone mission you can an adrenaline shot so you can move normal. This review has dropped the ball.

Campaign was pretty forgettable other than the awesome characters. The story itself just falls flat. Another Campaign like Cold War would be superb.

Every reason why they didn't like this campaign applied 10x more to Vanguard. The game's campaign was predictable before you even signed in. They also gave bf2042 a 7 so.... MWII = 9/10

This is my favorite COD campaign.
Everything about it was awesome
Having just finished it, 6/10 is about right. Even just based on the characters and their arcs, they’re wasted for about 75% of the story. Alejandro carries the ensemble cause he’s the only one who is charismatic. Ghost and Soap don’t get fleshed out as characters until almost the last 3rd of the game. Gaz and Price are forgettable. And the villains, have basically zero screen time, and their motives are just “military bad guy.” It falls short of the original MW2’s legacy
Dude ghost soap and Gaz were always forgettable if anything they're better now. They became popular just due nostalgia
With underwhelming writing and narration by Matt Purslow, we are again subjected to an inconsistent review by IGN. At times he praises the game to an ultimate height but only to use it as an platform to shoot it down harder. Thus this review is a solid 4/10. For more reviews and insights, stick with IGN
of course there are armored enemies. it's how they set up the player for warzone which is sadly where this franchise has gone to stagnate.

They need to stop reviewing parts of the game and just review the whole game entirely. Even if they do a full game review later on, what would be the point of having “campaign” review and “multiplayer” review in the first place.

The campaign pays homage to everything COD. Only thing is your allies get in the way often times to your detriment.
Then the difficulty spikes are insane when it comes to stealth especially in the tank mission.
For me a 8/10 best campaign since MW3.
Did we play the same game? 8/10 for me, the only thing that got old for me was the bullet sponge armored enemies.

This game is 9/10 if you play it as it is, a fully grounded mid-sim game with hollywood level production.
Comparing it to script explosions everywhere MW of the 2000s doesnt make sense.

Really disagree with Matt on this one. Most of his problems weren’t problems for me. It had a real Sicario/True Detective vibe when at its best. It’s an easy 8 for me, one of the better COD campaigns
