I’ve had Burger fuel twice, it’s amazing but the prices are ridiculous. As much as I’d love to have it regularly I don’t support the price. I’m surprised there still in business.
I think their prices are around the same as the so-called "Gourmet" range at MacDonalds, or the Burger Wisconsin chain here in NZ, who the quality is most comparable to. I have no problem with paying the price if I want a decent burger. Not cheap to run a business anywhere these days. So if you want it, and can afford it, pay up. Otherwise stick to the basic range at MacD's or Burger King if lining your stomach is all that is important.
Yeah, even for New Zealand, Burger Fuel is definitely on the spensi side. You do get good quality and flavour, but boy do you pay for it. I only go there to treat myself or if I'm taking someone who's never tried it before (everyone should go at least once). Even if I had more disposal income, I don't think I'd go there more often than that just on principle.
Yep totally agree, the burgers are too expensive. The fries (chips in NZ) do get softer trapped in a cardboard box where there is steam/heat. Trick is to eat them fresh as they are made. Even 4 or 5 mins later they will be softer. I thought the little girl was watching you eat, and then van started reversing, lol. You should try nz gourmet sausages, lamb & mint, or pork & apple cider if you like warm fruit. Bread, butter, sauce. Stay beautiful, chur.
With Burgerfuel they are considered a gourmet burger. Due to quality of ingredients compared to wendys, burgerkjng and McDonalds. Which have smaller patties. When. It comes to spicy foods in New Zealand a lot of the time they are not spicy more mild to middle.
A number of points should be noted... Firstly Burger Fuel is a gourmet burger chain meaning that all ingredients are either free range or ethically sourced. By definition, this means that they will be expensive which carries over to the price. Secondly (its been years since I had a Bastard & it has bn altered in the intervening time) is the largest of Burger Fuels menu options and hence commands the largest price. That said, the earlier version included mango chutney which they've substituted for something else (beetroot slaw?) which puts me off ordering it.
Maybe it's just me, but the prices are fair for what you get. I get a burger from burger fuel and I'm full for a good few hours, I get a Mac large attack combo from mcdonalds I'm starving in a couple of hours. So the upfront price is kind've nullified by having to eat less in a day. Just my opinion though
Burgerfuel is expensive but the burgers are the best. They're definitely worth a splurge once in a while. And also the burgers are HUGE and really filling, so you actually CAN share fries & a shake with your buddy or date because you don't need one each once you've eaten that massive burger.
The other thing you have to remember is Burger Fuel's burgers are like 3 to 4 times the weight of say a burger king burger. The beef parry is actually thick and properly charred. It's a premium brand.

The cost of living here is INSANE. I really really feel sorry for visitors who want to try all our food but are shocked by the prices. We're (kinda) used to it, but for travellers it can be a bit of a gut punch. Even our fast food chains are pricey. Glad you enjoyed BurgerFuel. My fave place for burgers in Wellington is Burger Liquor. I like a simple burger, like the double standard (& a whiskey)
Agree that most "gourmet" burgers in NZ are far too expensive. Recommend you try K-Chicken Bistro in Miramar, out by the airport. Their chicken is super moist and the spice ranges in 4 steps from none to super spicy. Reasonable price too.
Burgerfuel are likely the best chain burger joint in NZ, but there are probably better burger places around for similar high-end prices. Burger Burger, Burger Geek (one shop only I think) in Auckland just to name a couple, but BF are throughout the country and you know the quality is going to be consistent wherever you go.
Getting a wierd kick out of watching you rate food here. BF is a sometimes eat for us, too exp, find a country chippie/burger shop that uses local meat and veg, it will blow your mind.
Burger Fuel for me is a rare treat and all about the sizing and quality. The size/weight and ingredients is just no comparison. But if you wanted to pay $25 for 2 people then you'd have to go somewhere else like McDonald's.
Burgerfuel is 100% worth the price in my opinion. Not only are the burgers bigger than BK or Maccas but in general they're better quality hands down. Not to mention they have Gluten free as an option which means someone like me who's celiac gets to enjoy a burger too! And Kmart needs to come to the Naki already...
dude the burgers are over twice the price of BK or Maccas you'd kinda expect they would be bigger wouldn't you. myself i would just get a giant burger from any fish any chips shop for half the price and bigger than their "bastard" burger
I think the prices match what I would consider average for a Burger specialist outfit like burger fuel. Burger Culture in Nelson has steadily risen its prices and their burgers have reduced in size over the past few years. You got good quality there. 👌
They were far better when they first opened imo. Now they are overpriced for what they are the quality of the food seems to depend on who the staff are when you visit. By the way, they are not NZ owned anymore. Now a listed public company with the founder of Red Bull a major shareholder I seem to recall. Also has branches in Saudi Arabia. Burger Fuel Ltd sell the franchises in each location.
How much longer will you be in nz? Have you tried NZ sausages yet lol. There's one place that I felt has almost got American pepperoni pizza just right, and that's Sal's pizza. I'm still catching up with your other nz videos.

Yup, their prices are over the top, by miles. I mean, the price of the chips especially is ridiculous, there's probably 50 cents worth or potatoes if that.

I went to America ... I understand how much yous love that crispy bacon LMAO thats why I understood instantly when you said "floppy bacon" haha. Crispy to dry for me but maybe thats the kiwi in me talking haha
Hey! I couldn't find anywhere to message you so I figured I would just comment. I am kiwi and love these kinds of videos. I want to recommend a place in Kapiti, which I see you've been before, called "Salty's Diner" and the reason why is because they are awesome and they are a Kiwi take on an American style diner. They've even got the airstream caravan set up. Pretty cool. Also try the "Birria beef loaded fries" and like whatever else.
Ps, your channel is awesome, I have subbed and am now a frequent watcher! Thanks for the cool content. have great day.
Good to see you using the doofer. You should explain the doofer to your american viewers
Oh emm gee, that totally looks like Porirua! 😄 Been there only 3 days ago myself! 😀 Including playing a gig with my band! 😊
Agree that most "gourmet" burgers in NZ are far too expensive.
Recommend you try K-Chicken Bistro in Miramar, out by the airport. Their chicken is super moist and the spice ranges in 4 steps from none to super spicy. Reasonable price too.
"Biggest little baby bite" !!🤣🤣
You’re lame.
No wonder you don’t see it would be lame to take the Piccadilly line to Heathrow every Sunday arvo just to have Wendy’s…
It’s higher prices in nz because you get Pam’s if higher in nz
Wait, they don’t have KMart in the USA?
You should try Burgerl Fuels Lemon Aioli.... If you think the normal aioli is good,,, welll.. wait till you try the lemon one. with the kumara fries.
My go to Burger Fuel burger is the Ford Freakout - has beef, bacon and avo. Jaffa is a chocolate orange flavour.
You chucked the Doofer away 😂
Getting a wierd kick out of watching you rate food here. BF is a sometimes eat for us, too exp, find a country chippie/burger shop that uses local meat and veg, it will blow your mind.
100% this. It's not easy to find them but they're definitely the way to go.
I dunno those big burgers are too much food for me.
I think the prices match what I would consider average for a Burger specialist outfit like burger fuel. Burger Culture in Nelson has steadily risen its prices and their burgers have reduced in size over the past few years. You got good quality there. 👌
We enjoy your vids, keep it up.thanks young fella:)
Ekim burger in Cuba Street Wellington is worth checking out
8:00 NZ Burger King roast for the chicken sandwiches
You should try teak neighborhood grill next!
That kids face on the right gave me a fright. 😂. Thought someone was peering into the car.
Try slick burgers in christchurch
The meat in the burgers is really good. Their C n Cheese burgers are my favourite and one of their cheaper ones.
They are expensive, especially as you have to buy everything separately and not as a combo. So I buy as a treat every 1-2 months.
How much longer will you be in nz? Have you tried NZ sausages yet lol. There's one place that I felt has almost got American pepperoni pizza just right, and that's Sal's pizza. I'm still catching up with your other nz videos.
Burger Fuel is my go to takeaways, and every time I get extra Aioli, it's so good and totally worth the price for the quality!!
You should try the traditional Australian burger: beef pattie, lettuce, sliced beetroot, bread & butter pickle, pineapple, fried egg, bacon, cheese, sauce to taste (ketchup or BBQ, or hot) none of that fancy sauce “aolii” isn’t that a musical?
Love the music on this vid, Brock 🎸Has a bit of a Dunedin garage band sound.
Yup, their prices are over the top, by miles. I mean, the price of the chips especially is ridiculous, there's probably 50 cents worth or potatoes if that.
I usually feed myself for $20 at Burger fuel. And yes their prices are really high.
B.F is either awesome or just ok. depends on location etc.
If you ever go to Auckland there’s a place called sneaky snacky and it will NOT disappoint I promise.
Try the C and C Burger next time bro, its for cheese lovers and its 🔥🔥
