    The bus rarely (if ever) went into Cockeyne Hatley, which is why the little bus shelter is away from the village on the road to Potton & Wrestlingworth. I used to drive a bus out there late at night and nobody ever used to get on or off.

    Great Saab spotting guys, as a child I harassed my dad to get a 9000 CSE anniversary 2.3t instead of a Lexus. Best car ever, although the Carlson looked the dogs danglies. Can never buy a green car either, grandmother once read the tea leaves and said she saw a crashed green car. 2hrs later dad turned up with just a steering wheel for his British racing green mgb he had just binned!

    The shoes on a table superstition came out of the old tradition of laying a dead person out on the dining room/kitchen table wearing their Sunday best for people to pay their respects before the funeral, it was the only time there would be shoes on the table (being worn by the corpse) hence putting shoes on the table was inviting death upon the wearer. My mother also says green cars are unlucky too.

    So apparently, you should never put new
    shoes on a table as it is symbolises death of a family member. Many years ago, when a miner passed away, his shoes would be placed on a table and this is often how his family would find out about his death. Due to this, people started to believe that putting shoes on a table was tempting fate. My grandmother was fond(?) of that one, and it took until today for me to know why...
    Magpies mate for life, so a sole magpie has lost their mate and is therefore unlucky - that's how I have always heard that one. Saluting them? God knows...
    Someone also has a superstition that it is bad luck to watch a Smith & Sniff vid without ensuring at least one dislike - the strangest of them all...

    Shoe on the table comes from not putting any shoes on the table, in the past if you put your dirty shoes on the table, dirt and bacteria made people unwell. So then someone thought it was unlucky to have shoes on the table, they didn't know it was because of bacteria and germs, they just put it down to luck

      @Snowy-666 5 лет назад

      @@emmajacobs5575 I agree. I thought it was bad etiquette. He started to pull out to pass the car with another car clearly coming the other direction. For an instant, 3 cars occupied a two lane road at the same space & time! He was lucky the white oncoming car was far enough over (or kindly moved over) to let them pass. I think it was an overly risky move. However, perhaps the Alpine, is very narrow? It looks it. Perhaps you don't even notice it passing its so fast. Just a blur. I wouldn't have passed at that moment.
