    What is the Healthiest Cheese?
At the grocery store, you’ll find different types of cheese - cheddar cheese, mozzarella, cheese sticks, processed cheese, etc.
But did you know that not everything that’s packaged and labelled as “cheese” is actually real?
When cheese shopping, you have to realize that there are smart buys and there's some not quite so smart buys. There's a lot of imitations. There's a lot of wanna-be the king of cheese, so you need to be aware of this because it's very important for your health.
First of all, remember you do not want to be an experiment. And so anytime we eat a food that's been heavily processed or it's a fake imitation, then it's an experiment.
We want to eat real food.
Is There Healthy Cheese at the Store?
My very first choice when choosing cheese is I want raw cheese.
Raw cheese means it hasn't gone through all of the extra processing. It hasn't gone through a lot of extra chemicals added to it and flavorings, things like that. It's just cheese.
    Is cheese good for you?
    Absolutely!
Cheese is very helpful. It can be very much a great calcium source. But if you're going to buy the fake stuff, you're going to pay a price.
This is why you need to be very careful when buying cheese.
When you see the word “imitation”, steer clear of that cheese right away. It’s not good for you.
You know right away this is not going to fit with the three principles that we teach with treasures of healthy living.
You also want to use your own slicer and processor instead of buying those cheese slices or cheese sticks. The non-processed ones are definitely the best.
Another thing to look for in a healthy cheese is the ingredients. Stay away from additives, preservatives, and all those chemicals you don’t need in your body.
Stick only to all-natural, raw, and organic cheese from a reputable source, so you can get maximum benefits to your health and avoid those nasty things that imitation and fake cheeses have.

I buy all of my regularly used Italian cheeses that have been imported from Italy, made from unpasteurized dairy. All the smell, flavor and nutrition that cheese has to offer. If I buy cheese made in the U.S. I tend to buy Cabot cheeses, or locally made cheeses from Amish or Mennonite families. God bless.

AHEM. The label says "Distributed by" and lists a USA address. That is NOT the same as "manufactured by" or a location. There's a big difference! Many products (not just cheese) are bought from "over there" and shipped HERE to the USA and then DISTRIBUTED from a USA-based facility. Get it?

Except today the other countries in Europe have more regulations to keep their food chemical free than the US does. The fda allows whatever the company pays for them to approve. The best cheese now comes from Italy and Greece. We get wonderful block cheeses from sheep in Greece at Costco. And yes block cheese is best. Costco has many foods that are cleaner than US brands. It is worth the trip to their store to buy healthier foods.

I foolishly trusted the grated cheese sold in the bags. When I discovered that chemicals were involved, I switched immediately to block cheese. I bought a good cheese slicer and a better cheese grater off of Amazon. Now I slice or grate what I want when I want it. Glad you are informing people about this. One of the ingredients in some preshredded cheese is Neomycin, which is used as an oinment for eye infections. If you see the ingredient "Acheta", in any grocery products that is powdered crickets. When you are buying ground beef that says, processed and inspected in the US, keep in mind that does not mean the beef is from the US. I asked a popular grocery chain for clarificatio on this statement and I was told the beef could come from the US, Australia or South America.

You also have to be careful of the rennet that is used. If it says it 'vegetarian friendly,' then the rennet could be soy based and not animal base. Also shredded cheese can have a "not so good" addition to keep it from clumping.
Be careful and read the labels on the block cheese also.

The cheese that I mainly stick with is a cheese I purchase @ Costco. It is a white cheddar cheese from the UK. Can’t remember the exact name…but I think it is UK Coastal. Anyways, has a UK flag on label. Doesn’t give me issues like American cheese. Also delicious. Agree with other comments regarding European cheeses having better regulations on what is not allowed in there animal husbandry practices that make for healthier cheese. My 2 cents on good cheese.

I enjoy your videos and the information you give about what is the best food to eat. I just recently found out about the enzymes in cheese and the difference between animal rennet and vegetarian rennet. It is my understanding that vegetarian rennet or enzymes are typically cultured in a lab which in my opinion is a non-food. So that is another factor I always look for in my cheese

    • @micheleyoungblood
      @micheleyoungblood 3 месяца назад

You need a better understanding then before scaring people with your "partial" understanding
"Typically, plant-based rennet for cheese comes from cardoon thistle, artichokes, or nettles. The plants are soaked in water to extract a thickening enzyme similar to chymosin. Many traditional Spanish and Portuguese cheeses are made from plant rennet."
      These "are food"
Microbial Rennet is lab made. It is a form of plant based but not a popular or stable one

I try not to buy shredded cheese too often unless I’m being lazy. one reason I do buy it occasionally is because there’s a recipe for broccoli cheese soup that actually calls for pre-shredded cheese because it won’t clump. it’s important not to clump when you’re making broccoli cheese soup. I definitely don’t use a recipe that calls for Velveeta. I actually tried using cheese I shredded myself once and it clumped really badly but now that I have a immersion blender I suppose I could try it again with shredded cheese that I did myself (perhaps just mix a little corn starch in). I also have bought a bag of shredded cheese that is a blend like Mexican because you can’t always get those exact cheeses as blocks.

Our government favors profit over people, therefore there is nothing to brag about because the legislators co-sign the corporation's checks and not the other way 'round. Some legislators brag about having no regulations, as if these food manufacturers gives a damn about people's health. They only care about what's in people's pockets.

So now companies are putting genetically modified renet in their cheese. They don't have to list it. Boars head uses synthetic renet to process cheese. Having a hard time finding a cheese that does not have this.

You definitely can. The texture will be different though. You can use the frozen cheese in cooked items, but prob not for straight eating.
