Thank you so much for this video and for paying such great attention to my comments 😅. I’ve already changed my nickname here - I’m now Mayor Jahns! From now on, please call me only this 🤣. As for the name - it’s a funny coincidence. Jahns is actually my real (German) family name, while Yulia is a Russian name. That’s why both “Yu” and “Ja” are pronounced the same. Although, who knows, maybe I am related to Mayor Jahns - the full truth will remain a mystery 😅.
We spent 10 years focused on our audio podcasts... we started putting the podcasts on RUclips without any thought until the pandemic made us realize "ooo, people are watching on YT too" --- we need to build up our subs here.
Great tip about the soundtrack listing that was a huge relief, things should speed up soon. Solo was less of a mystery character and he and Juliette were on the same page more in the book at this point. Looking forward to making up the ground in the show.
I think it is clear they are not going to have Shift in the TV series but they will flashback to relevant parts to tell the story. They basically played out the whole chapter in Shift where Jimmy runs to his dad during their rebellioun in the TV show S2E1.
With the sound track reveal and now the message decoded it gives us some some very salient clues as to how season two might end. Here's my take: Bernard is aware of Silo 1's ultimate control over all the silos. His angst every time when Silo 18 fob lights up and his rush to the vault when Jules makes it past the hills confirms his fear of their fate. Lukas will decoded Quinn"s message. Bernard will will then make him, Lukas, his shadow and have him vetted by Silo 1. As the rebellion gets started Bernard has to assure Silo 1 things are under control and the rebellion is being crushed in timely order. But it's not- scene where we see lanterns dropping leaflets with JL slogan permeating the entire silo. Bernard panics and decides to end his own life before silo1 wipes out silo 18 all together. He goes into the airlock as if to do a cleaning but knows all he has to do is be in that chamber to be sprayed not by argon gas but toxic gas filled with nano toxins. Choosing to join Mary Meadows in a slowly poisoned death. Season 3 will proceed from third book of trilogy interspersed with backstory of silo origins from Shift. I've been way off the mark before but this my current best guess.
Thanks for the Adam Savage info. Now I have to find his video because it looks fascinating. I know you guys recorded this earlier, but yday the show was officially renewed for s3 and s4. Soundtrack listing gives me hope they are doing a sprint to the finish in the last 2 eps. Those could be 2 of the best shows of the series if they just follow the incredible pacing of the book
*** Books Spoiler Warning *** Bernard refuses to clean and he dies in the airlock. Juliette rushes in to try and save him thinking it is Lukas and tries to cover him with the heat tape blanket but he refuses and is burned to death. It isn't revealed to her that it is Bernard and not Lukas until the flames clear. Bernard doesn't go out into any 'toxins' (there aren't any). I'm not sure how you mixed that up but how you stated the book ends at 10:00 doesn't happen at all. Bernard refuses to clean or be saved and dies in the airlock fire. I hope they stick to this kind of ending for the show, as it deeply humanizes Bernard, but I hate to lose Tim Robbins as he is by far the strongest actor on the show with Furguson and Zahn. It also leads me to believe that they will incorporate Shift in season 3 in some way, perhaps interspersed with ongoing events in Silo 18 with Juliette as Mayor. I'm not sure how they could skip it in Dust as they are in conflict with Silo 1 (the creators of the Silo's and the characters from Shift). They would have to completely reinvent the rest of the series.
imo Bernard isn't the "mustache twirling" villain in the book ; on the ending, I thought he still died from the Toxins before the fire started, but I hearing I am wrong
hea, on that model, theres a 3rd door/split goin to no where nothing not showen. to the left by adam. did you see that? i hope they show another world of the silo. i 4got , i think the silos run on geo thermal. it explains the steam, heat down below and substanable engery.
Got an article on Googles news early this morning from website ' the Direct' titled 'Silo' : Who is Salvador Quinn? Season 2 character & warning message explained. Apparently some Reddit fans deciphered the coded message and posted it. Enlightening! I won't post it here but I'm sure you guys can find it.
Wow, if they conclude wool by the end of season one I think will be rushed, but I guess ultimately the show follows the cliff notes I suppose, the children will need to be introduced soon or they will eliminate them all together. Just a small detail, she will be in a fireman’s suit, so that’s how she will survive the burn! Book two was my least favorite. I think it has too much “Fat” anyway and can be trimmed down to one season. They can probably do it, if they omit the revolt history and consolidate the making of the silo, but the main relationships of the senator and time skips, still need to be included if the ending is going to be similar for season 4. Also there won’t be a lot of Juliet then. If they do, then the whole thing can be wrapped up in 4 seasons, but a lot will be left out. For us book readers on this story, we have to keep in mind that it will be altered and probably abridged to fit in 4 seasons. Also, we need to understand that any show is never as good as the book is based on! They can drag the show along or make it more action packed with less fat, that is the part most book readers enjoy, but show goers like the least and would call it slow paced. Seen it in some of the comments. To me, I would like to see more details but that would cost “action” time… Let’s just enjoy the show as it is, it’s still a fantastic show and we should celebrate it when the season is over with a “Burn-ard” BQ! 😆 I look forward to the next episode every week and discuss it with my dad! He is show goer only! Nice to converse with my dad about silly things like this as grown ups and busy schedules. I still think you can do severance season two even if u didn’t do season one! Just do a quick recap of season one and start with season 2 episode 1! Here’s to hoping anyway! 😆 Still wanna see that Sims-Knox fight happen!🤞
I started with season 1 of the show. Hadn't read the books and thought season 1 was amazing. I couldn't wait for Apple to get season 2 out as I wanted more Silo...then read all three books. I like the story in the books better but still enjoy the show. That being said, I think they will skip the events of Shift all together for the Silo show. Keep the Silo 4 seasons focus on the Juliette Silo 17/18 story line. My guess is if that is successful they will then do a prequal series like Dune: Prophecy or House of the Dragon that covers Shifts content Silo 1. I would be ok with that.
@@DoublePMedia By the way, I just found your page last week and really enjoy the book vs TV discussions. I went back and watched all your videos from season 1 as well. Nice job!!!
on shift they could do it with the same cast with a twist Bernard and like the guy who was in the bottom of the SILO that billings found because of those forget drugs

WONDERFUL work, Mayor!
Awesome video, thanks. Been listening along to your videos this season and been loving it. Why don’t you have more subs?!

I 'assume' there's more to know about Solo/Jimmy.... but Shift, part of me wants to hold out until the final episode of this year
I didn't think the kid in S2E1 was Jimmy. I thought that kid went outside and died with mom and dad. I have to re-watch now.
Damn the soundtrack gives up the ending
The show will still twist is for dumb reasons

That's a smart thought.... Just read the article on The Direct.... hmmmm, is all I think at the moment :)

Yes, the soundtrack was an eye opener for me!

@@jacob-sk6bh I wonder if the “door to nowhere” leads to another silo and they share the algorithm room (far fetched I know)

SMART, of course she'll survive the fire by being in the fireman's suit. Will the helmet survive the fire....?
@ if memory serves I saw a preview where she had the fireman’s mask/helmet as well while she was underwater … but maybe I’m mistaken
By the way, you got the end of the book wrong at the 10 min mark.
Only 5 episodes left, when will the rebellion start?
Has it started - yet become a shadow rebellion
5 episodes and we’re still going so slowly
yep - 2nd gear is something for other shows
For real, adaptations are always masturbation of the directors and actors ego rather than a service to the story
I dislike the Juliet of the show. She is so much of a bad ass that I can’t help but roll my eyes. The vulnerability of the book character was superior
Goodbye Bernie
You are slightly misremembering the ending there bud. Bernard refused to leave the room and burned while she hid under the blanket
I started listening to the book
Need to continue
I really like the novel, and knowing how it goes
The books got deeper meaning
Keeping our fingers crossed that the show turns around

Shift is the question mark for many show watchers. I assume we'll get our answer in episode 10 this year (season 2)
