I take the On30 is too big to take on a vacation as a personal challenge! That said, it's amazing seeing the explosion of On18 in recent months as someone making On18 trains myself. It's a unique scale considering how cheap and reliable the Kato N scale 11-109 chassis is! Also, if you are willing to deal with the tie spacing on the Kato N Unitrack, it gives you an incredibly smooth track, with minimal effort.

Kato's recently come out with some HOn30 track, actually! It's not much - just 7" radius and a couple of straights - but for a small loop setup it'll have nicer tie spacing for On18. Though I've already got PLENTY of N Unitrack already from years of focusing on N scale, so I'll probably just use that for now! You're absolutely right that it's incredibly smooth with next to no effort.
If you do take up the challenge, take it from me - don't pack seven freight cars. Pack, like, three. There's a short series I did in September that chronicles my (surprisingly successful) attempt, and I p r o b a b l y went overboard on that front lmao

Subscribed. I've been tinkering with on18 for a few years. Great scale for fun little builds

That engine is so smol! The stuff you added onto it makes it look complete too! The shell looked like it had something missing beforehand lol.

I got this same engine kit and wasn't planning on putting a light on it, but seeing how good the light looks on yours I may just have to give that a shot. There's something really cute about engines that are clearly extremely small even in-scale, it'd be adorable to see one of these On18 tank engines on an On30 or full O gauge flat car behind a full size engine.

Yeah, I was considering not adding the headlight for ease of assembly, but after test-fitting the little enclosure... It's just too perfect.
I've already tried putting it on an On30 flatcar and it's a pretty fun/goofy load. What I should REALLY do is put it on an On30 flatcar behind snickerdoodle, then put the On30 stuff in a 3-rail O gondola. THAT'D be a trip lmao

%100 think you should make a tiny coal mine diorama for it (your work is incredible dude!)
