Hi, My name is Les. I am just 58 and started to be an electrician 5 years ago. As an technician (cars maintenance) I always loved to diy and electrical works. Past 5 years I've been working as an electrician helper. What I can see in your video is really nice pack of advice for people starting business.
Hi Les! Thank you for your kind words and thank you for the coffee, really appreciated, you are a good man sir. Good luck with your electrical career and I hope you find some more use from my videos
3:37 A pro tip, If you keep your roll of tape in your cargo pocket while your working It keeps the tape warm and makes it much easier to work with in cold weather
Cheers Adam! Another brilliant video. Love the step by step format. So useful for me as I really want EV charger installs to be my specialty once I’m up and running in a couple of months. Keep ‘em coming mate!
1st time I have actually watched a video on your channel as don't do car chargers You are a bit like Mark Allison in the way of explaining what you are doing very well. also nice to see a youtuber who looks like they us their tools and not all shiny and polished.
Put an offset on the EV ultra going into the charger, it will look better with the cable going straight into the gland and not at an angle. How do you not dent the db when banging the cutout with a hammer? I always manage to dent them. Solid stranded is also called class 2 conductor. Personally I believe that ferrule on class 2 is only necessary on a screw terminal (when the screw itself is biting into the conductor). I have the blue Bosch drill bits, did not know you can use them without the hammer. About the canopy, I'm going to try something on my van, fit an awning rail on the roof and sew a bead on the canopy, it should keep it from collapsing.
I was thinking of installing my own EV charger. But the government put in a 50% deduction on your EV charger and installation, but only if its installed by an electrician. So I would have lost money by doing it myself 😅
👋 I’m 16yrs next year I start my electric training all so I’m doing my gas safe as well so 🙏 for your vid logs I live in 🇫🇷 so our European age is different from the 🇬🇧 I can start all my training from age 17yrs onwards keep 🆙 the good work u do ❤️ the video u do. Stay safe ❤❤❤
Great video and great content. Quick question... On Pme systems, do you need to install separate pen-fault protection, or do most EV Chargers come with it built in?
Great channel Adam. I’m not in the trade but you’ve opened my eyes to what to look for. I’m currently sitting on an ancient install that now looks like it should have been condemned on day 1😢 Probably already solved but are you in Eastbourne?
But it’s only 4 inches on the map 😂😂😂 Easy trip up and back with a full 8 hours work. Might even throw in a bacon butty 😂😂😂 Seriously though, you really do slog it on your jobs and the quality really shows through. It’s one thing just doing a good job but it’s an entirely different thing filming it and putting it out there for every pro and armchair expert to pass comments. Never mind the stress and time of filming and editing which I am very familiar with. That takes BALLS of steel. 👍👍👍
Genuine question, not trolling. But, has anyone heard of any case studies where insurers have refused a claim due to not having an installation certificate? For example, many properties have wiring and installations that date back years and years, would an insurer really request a certificate from a car charger installed for example 10 years prior? What if it was done by previous owner and no certificate was handed over? Just all seems a bit far fetched and unlikely to me.
I think if you’re talking to young lads, when removing the board cover and isolating, you should probably show them how to prove dead using a proving unit. Assuming something is dead because you’ve turned off a switch will catch them out at some point. I think you do a good job of setting a good standard for install but safe isolation is still something that people treat with a lack of disrespect. Need to teach the young lads how to work safe before anything else.
I Hate tie wraps when the bag is cut in the middle, sorry but its a pet hate.Cut the top of the bag of,and put a tie wrap 3 quarters of the way up .Or get one of those things.
Most people want to see a normal days work electrician videos, just running through a job from start to finish. Artisan has gone completely the opposite.
in the real world yes it absolutely needs testing and certifying, but in reality, when you sell your house ,who gives a flying fook......., no one. THAT, is the problem.....

Great video, neat and tidy install as always 👌
Thank you
Great content as usual. Very organised installer.
Thank you sir
Thank You. Les
In cold weather it pays to keep a couple of rolls of pvc tape in an inside pocket so it is useable.
Agreed 👍
Only a spark knows that feeling when the cable comes out the other end on the draw wire 😁😁
👍
And that heart sinking feeling when it doesn't 😅
DIYers too.
Always enjoyable to watch does a good job ,,,👍
Thank you sir
Those Bosch bits are fantastic. Go through anything
They are brilliant!!
Great job your such a tidy worker and i like the old dustpan underneath the drill. whats the name of the cable strippers you used on the EV cable?
Thank you! Yes the dustpan trick is super simple. It’s just called an EV ultra cable stripper 👍👍
@17.57... the power *should* be off, but you should test just in case.
String for stripping? I thought it was due to the way the cable is made 🤔
Love the more step by step videos ❤
It can be used for stripping, thank you sir 🙏

I’ve never seen anybody cut a bag of tie wraps length ways like that 😂 cut it across the bag and they will never fall out.
You need to join the tie wrap club online mate, loads of it!
Great video and great content.
Quick question... On Pme systems, do you need to install separate pen-fault protection, or do most EV Chargers come with it built in?
Thank you, most have it built in now, the only one that doesn’t that I can think of is the Tesla chargerc

Probably already solved but are you in Eastbourne?
Thank you sir appreciate your kind comments, yes I was in Eastbourne! 👍
@ Do you ever get as far north as Cheshire???
@ it’s not my usual commute il be honest! I do travel around a bit but for jobs further afield I have to put a night in a hotel on the job
But it’s only 4 inches on the map 😂😂😂

Please tell me, where did you get those Klein Ferrule Crimpers? 😭🤣
I don’t understand the joke
I’ve been looking for them everywhere and can only find them for import and it’s driving me mad 😭
@@tomhesketh157 ahh right, I got them at the elex trade show mate, I’m sure you can buy them here somewhere!! Il ask them
If you want?
That would be absolutely amazing if you could. I’ve asked the suppliers I use and they can’t get them.

Keep yer tape in yer pocket….The warmer the better.

Were you in East Sussex? Hastings or Eastbourne?

Artisan has gone completely the opposite.
Are you in DONCASTER?
I am not
Wouldn’t touch Tool Monster after how they treated Mikey
Well I have spoke to Mike and he has moved on so I don’t see why other people are still clinging on to this.
Get a Cyclop cable stripper for stripping off cable jacket, they less than £10 and a time save and less likely to cut the network cable pairs
I will look into it 👍👍
