  • Roberto Bolle is one of the most famous dancers in the world, with widespread name recognition outside the dance world, particularly in his home country of Italy, where he headlined popular television specials, and presented dance works in non-standard venues like the Rome Colosseum. Roberto has performed with many major ballet companies globally. What makes Roberto Bo-lay one of the most prominent dancers of the late 1990s and early two thousands? This video sheds light on his effortless dancing and refined technique that has made him stand out, particularly in classical roles requiring princely grace and dramatic range.
Thanks to Stephen Nelson and Luisa De Gaetano for many helpful comments.

I know that there are a lot of older commenters here talking about Vasiliev but this man has lines that are unbelievable. Vassiliev could jump into the rafters but he couldn’t always straighten his knee is in the process. It’s 2023 now even the men have to straighten her knees and point their feet. You have to have exaggerated hyperextended lines just like the women now. Bolle is the total mode4n package.

I think Bolle, after Barishnikov is my favourite male ballet dancer. Others like Kimin are coming along brilliantly but Roberto's meticulous dancing and his command of stage as well as his ability to star, yet stay inclusive of and in sync with the rest of the cast will stay in my mind forever. I adored his sense of fun that came out in some of his work as well. 🌹🌹🌹Thank you for this great video.

The problem with proclaiming that this artist or that artist is best - and this is true, I think, in any art: music, dance, painting, etc. - the problem is that all are great, and what constitutes "best" is a matter of one’s personal taste. I am lucky that I can enjoy Bolle and his fellow dancers at La Scala Enzi and Sutera, as well as Anthony Dowell, Nureyev, Baryshnikov, Tsikaridze, Vasiliev, and others. I cannot even say who, among those I mentioned, I think best; it’s the one I’m watching at any given time.

I thought it suited him technically, while he was able to create a character that is not overly dramatic.

At his height I understand he was in great demand as a partner by many of the best ballerinas. I think he was able to enhance and "showcase" their performances with his strong partnering technique, athletic physique and "princely" good looks. I enjoyed him especially with Svetlana Zakharova in "Giselle" and "Swan Lake" and he was wonderfully and suitably godlike as Apollo in Balanchine's "Apollon Musagete".

I agree with all of your observations And, your photography is beautiful.
Roberto Bolle is a classy, masculine and virile ballet superstar, with strong, stretched powerful port de bras that still manages to look graceful. Bolle has impeccably clean lines and technique. And, a😮t 6’2”, I am astonished by his ability to accomplish fully extended, uncharacteristically high develope for male dancers, as well as very high grand battlements in the middle of quick combinations.
The Romeo & Juliet magazine cover and photo montage was about as steamily romantic and erotically beautiful as it can get.
And, I’ve never seen anyone else accomplish what he does with his arms and torso during his entirechat-six in Giselle, as if his torso is trapped, pleading atop his frantic legs. That takes jaw-dropping control.

two international stars since 1970' in first Mickaël Denard , later Roberto Bolle ; two Artists who danced often out of theirs " House " Paris-Opera for Denard Scala for Bollet and that in greatest stages in the world also with the first ballerinas of our planete . There are difference between them : in erea Denard there were more famous ballerinas than with Bolle , many great stars Kirov-Bolchoi-NCB so Denard had more partners than Bolle ( ten twelve or more ) with erea Bolle less number of great stars in XX century it's a,fact . Two international dancers but Bolle had more technic classical dance but less magnetism on stage , two Apollon Bolle-Denard but esthetic Denard was more perfect ; j talk about two international dancers because before 1978 VHS did'nt exist and Denard less known . J don't think really that Barychnikov had an international career as Denard Bolle it's a fact , Patrick Dupond very short career ( 1980-83) of course Noureev is the Principal genious in XXrm Century .
