'Difficult to see how things will move forward' for left-wing bloc despite election victory

- A coalition of the French left won the most seats in high-stakes legislative elections Sunday, beating back a far-right surge. But with not enough seats for an absolute majority, “it is difficult to see how things will move forward” for the left as it attempts to form a government, Paul Smith, professor of French history and politics at the University of Nottingham, tells France 24.

Either the left will have to split and some of them need to work with Macron or Macron needs to work with Le Pen. Otherwise they can't get a government with majority.
This is misleading. In the 2nd round votes and seats were:
Left Wing: 7,0 million votes (25,8%) but 182 seats (31,5%)
Ensemble: 6,7 million votes (24,5%) but 168 seats (29,1%)
National Rally: 10,1 million votes (37,1%) but 143 seats (24,8%)
Republicans; 1,5 million votes (7,2%) and 45 seats (7,8%).
As you can see, National Rally is heavily under represented by around on third of seats, whereas both the Left Wing and Ensemble are over represented by around 20-25%.
I would like to know where did you get your numbers, since mine are not those at all...

I don't know if your numbers are true but when they have 1 mp elected per constituency what is so strange about? If they have large margins in the areas they won but couldn't win as many areas that can easily happen
its effectively a ranked voting system. Even if 37% voted for the far right this result shows there is a huge majority of France that despises them
