How to make HIGH-DENSITY Look and feel REAL in Cities Skylines!

- In this episode we're expanding Port Douglas' inner city to the south, filling out new blocks with high-density developments before revisiting a number of existing lots and upgrading existing buildings to create an overall denser look in the downtown area of the city. We're also filling in the empty lot that you guys agreed to allow for taller development on - reaching for the skies!

- What's the rationale behind this project:
What happens if a washed-up-used-to-be-RUclipsr gathers a bunch of "generic" looking assets (though mostly inspired by Australian / Canadian cityscapes) with the hopes of creating a Cities: Skylines region full of towns and cities that both look realistic and are inspired by Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA, while at the same time don't really replicate any one particular style? No idea, let's find out.
Join me in this Cities: Skylines modded gameplay / let's play / timelapse series as we expand the region, and build new infrastructure, highways, public transit, industrial pockets, NIMBY-neighbourhoods, sprawling suburbs and bustling downtowns. And of course, use tress excessively to cover up any imperfections!

please
can you tell me where did i get this game with all mods installed
Watching you place buildings together and work with Procedural Objects is such a treat. I get that it‘s not „necessary“ to use the mod but seeing how everything just fits is so *chefs kiss*. You also have good taste. You know what works or doesn‘t.
Nice touch on that Skycrapper! Also liked the final lookout of the new avenue, seems natural, urbanistic wise
I'm so glad to have the episodes of Coniferia back! Been a bit busy myself recently so I managed to catch up to 2 episodes at once, which is always a great way to spend an evening! 😎
54:35 Gotta love old mate walking right along the rail there, without a care in the world
Yeah, I noticed him. I thought he was going to get hit by a trolley!
incredible quality, as always.
Thank you so much for this episodes❤
Keep the good work Infra🎉😊
If you want to draw from your NYC trip, small urban fire stations would fit in the tight gaps of your city. I don’t see any fire services whatsoever in Port Douglas. A more euro approach would be a large central station!!
that skyscraper is officially the coolest building in the city now great job
The PlayStation 5 building 😂 at least that’s what it initially reminded me of
Hey man, love your work. I live in South East Queensland and this is a very nice build. The small triangle by the waterfront should have a WW2 memorial. We have the everywhere here and that spot is perfect for one.
Parking buildings are more realistic than underground parking. Facilities such as the Central hospital make use of underground areas for logistics, storage, and others utilities
Yet, here in Amsterdam we have the ‘Onze Lieve Vrouwen Gasthuis’ next to the Oosterpark. This Hospital has an underground parking. Due to the location anything else wasn’t possible I guess.
Good episode. Put an invisible path over the glass square!
Why not build a university campus or just a more modern university building right in the centre of the CBD near the train station. It could be a higher end university with a bit of campus housing in the area on the left at 56:31 or a redeveloped block around the tram line
Always a pleasure watching a new upload from you, keep up the good work!
Hate to say this, but I'm not really feeling the two towers next to the hospital. I'm happy to provide alternative suggestions if solicited. Other than that, great video as always. :)
I agree - I think I even mention it in the episode. I am open to suggestions my man! :-)
@@Infrastructurist I would recommend low or midrise condos by Smilies - he even made some modular sets. You could perhaps mix it with a slightly higher 50-metre-ish corner building (his buildings tend to be compatible in terms of style and textures). As an alternative, I would recommend Reaper's buildings, for example, Shangri-La V4 or Cinema Condominiums V4 (or any other of his shorter buildings).
This episode was FIRE 🔥
You’re so good at this! 😮 The new tallest (for now) looks great and I love the overall densifying of the city. What was the building you placed on top of the parking garage at around 44:17?
I really like that sunken parking lot; it gave me a lot of ideas.
Quick tip for the station/crosswalk problem you mentioned at the end. You can simply fix that with node controller, all you have to do is select a "middle node" (a node which is not a intersection node, but one in between 2 segments) and change it from "middle" to "crosswalk" in the node settings. Like this you can add a simple crosswalk in the middle of the road rather than have all of them at intersections. It will also allow access to your tram stations.
Seriously wonderful.
Just discovered your channel, I hear you are a fellow Scandinavian aswell. I really love your attention to detail, you got a new sub.
1:01:22 Perhaps a crosswalk node (Node controller) would work?
To have the tram stop in a middle segment - which looks nicer, IMO. You could even have the crossing on both sides of the stops (both nodes).
I like how your southern addition turned out. And the new skycraper next to the railway station is so excellent! Great job! 👍👍
Two things I noticed though: you have higher commercial demand and some of your buildings downtown and in the southern addition have storefronts but no shops. Maybe the addition of commercial block services will kill two birds with one stone.
I think it would be fun to build a big ass american parking garage with apartments or offices on top of it.
That would be so unique
I wish the workshop had legit (functional) underground parking assets...
I've been trying to do this with my own city... Underground parking, and/or blending a parking garage with buildings.
It's hard as shit to get any of the parking garage assets to fuse nicely with the buildings. The garage assets are so effing big compared to the apartment assets and it looks quite ridiculous.
I'm sure Infra could do it tho. So I vote for this to happen!
Love it! And love your voice!
As a person that works as civil engineer, have to say... bravo! What a masterpiece of city!
I love how Port Douglas feels MASSIVE just because of how much detail there is in the small blocks of the city, when in actuality it's a fraction of the total size of Pine Harbour. It seems that having each block feel distinct and be really detailed makes it feel like you've went really far in the city, when it's really just a few blocks.
Im a fan of the surface parking- it’s a break from the repetitive big buildings and adds space for some greenery. Could call it private parking or luxury parking- both exist
The glass-topped parking ramp is odd and perhaps unrealistic, but I really hope you keep it. First of all, it simply looks pretty cool. But more than that, it gives an added depth to the city that really adds to the life of the block. Somehow seeing the moving cars below makes the blocks feel a little less static. In the game normally the movement and activity is restricted to the streets and sidewalks, and this somehow adds a little more reality to the build, even if it detracts from the "realism." It's hard to explain, but a feature I really like!
at some point i also just relied on PO to make dense cities, theres no otehr way to fill the gaps
1:23 this map looks like a the map of north America.
27:45 I dont really like the twin tower (cursed two words) lot next to the hospital, they are cramped into that area. A hospital also needs room and green space, that's how most hospitals are situated around the world.
Maybe make it a park area for patients to get out of the hospital?
good point! only thing is, it's pretty close to the centre of the CBD and land would be extremely expensive. Building a park may see benefits, however the return on investment from the construction of a park wouldn't be enough to cover the cost of land
@@sansh_18 True, thats why most of the hospitals are at the outskirts of the city or at least outside the centre. Maybe replace hospital completely?
@@Bobbie_1999 yeah I was thinking the same thing. Maybe a city campus of a university gets built there. It would have excellent tram access and it would be right in the CBD. A research center or lab can be created as part of the uni to sorta pay respect to the hospital
Nice vid and awesome realistic city. How did you reach that realistic grass?
Neat!
Great video! What are those blocks called that add residents?
We need a massive metro mall in Douglas
Build a private CBDs then grow the sky scrapers there.
amazing! what is the mod to change building sizes and shapes? that is a gamechanger for me
What mod do you use to resize the buildings after you plop them?
hey, just curious, how are you able to get rid of the need to worry about getting electricity, water etc. to the citizens?
What are the invisible pathways called in the workshop?
How do you make those custom parking lots at 3:57?
what is the name of the Mod to reshape the building at 10:25? thanks alot.
How long does it take for this save to load?
we would need a mall or smth
The game is moving very slowly...like realistic. Is there a mod that slows that down? The cars, people, trains and all that other stuff is moving so slow and smooth.
Speed Slider mod :)
can anyone tell me where did i get this game with all mods installed
How excited are you for City Skyline 2?
is it because infrastructurist back to cs, paradox release cs 2! maybe who knows he one of paradox team
That plaza with glass is so dope, but a tad unrealistic 😂 I’m sure women with skirts on wouldn’t appreciate having to walk across it.
❤
🤩
City 😊😊
👍🔥
Love this ps5 building !
i wanna live here
I want to give a like but there are currently 777 likes and I don't want to be the one to ruin that. 😅
I have since given a like and it's now 909.
🎵 The one after 909 🎸
As a civil engineer the building you placed on top of the parking lot's glass roof, doesn't make a lot of sense realisticly. You should at least continue the supports to downwards in parking lot so they don't just sit on top of a glass. Other than that really cool episode as usual.
1970s Dallas? Sir that’s 2023 Dallas
Your ambulances are stock
45.2/50
all perfect but you put way too advertisements
WA😜😋😋😋
your Modlist, Assets etc. are out of date / N/A anymore.
25:03 AHAHAHHAHAHAHA LMAO. Do you know that you are using cheap rusian concrete fence? I have lot of this ugliness around my neighborhood , lol
The hospital is too much in a central location
Thank you and, as always, I look forward to the next upload. I like your style and appreciate when you take the time to explain your thought process as you go along. 🫡
