Wild Cabin Build / Helicopter Visit at Cabin (Ep 21)

- Опубликовано: 20 окт 2024
- It's always nice when a helicopter stops in to say hello. The stick frame cabin starts to come together. An. old fiend makes the journey north to spend a few days up here. We do some scouting for a hunt later this year, exploring the general region, and get some walls stood. The cabin takes shape, but has a long ways to go. A mix of summer weather makes for all the great colours to come to light.
See you all out there!
Shawn
It is very rare to see someone that Humble - Respect!!
I'd rather support RUclips creators than pay for any streaming service available.
Mee to P.O Box for start I have extra Framing Nailer will send it in heartbeat
Especially ones like him who feel more authentic to themselves
Never a bad thing to make friends with a helicopter pilot. He might bring gifts every now and then.
Listen love, let us express gratitude for being able to take this journey with you. You are producing a product that we enjoy. Buy me a coffee allows us to give back, do it!
I would do it
Building a cabin in the wilderness must be so rewarding, I’m sure at some point a puppy will become part of our escapism enjoyment watching your progress.
Part of being a RUclips content creator is to allow viewers to support you through the patreon option. It’s out way of thanking you for working hard to keep us entertained. Keep the faith my friend.
It's so nice watching a cabin build where the guy building the cabin actually knows what he's doing!! The way you swing that hammer it's clear you've done a bit of building in your life.
Yes , my dad taught my brothers and I how to swing a hammer . When I was in Cub Scouts , my younger brother won a nail driving contest at the local pack meeting .
his previous job was at construction.
Most of us don’t care what you do with the funds, we enjoy the content you are making (your job) and supporting you for your time and effort is rewarding as well.
Shawn, your giving so much of yourself to us, it's only fair you get something in return,
I'm loving this journey and you as an individual, was great to see your friend visit, be safe.
thank you for taking us on your journey love the content
26:00 nice Dewalt ad! Sponsor this guy 😂
I'm a Patreon of two RUclips channels, both give some extra behind the scenes content, or a monthly vlog just for Patreons. Only between 2 and 4 dollars a month but if you get a little extra for giving a regular amount. I think that kind of thing works. Currently binge watching your videos from the start while ill with a cold in a foreign country, so they're helping me get through an annoying time, so thanks for sharing your adventure! Joss
So love your content! Pretty hard-core and you’re doing an amazing job.
Scared the crap out of me when you were speeding up the river your friend is braver than me.
The wife and I have been building our home for almost 2 years now and are getting close to the last little items. It's so rewarding when you do it for yourself. Although we created a RUclips channel to let some friends and family follow along, we never did much until recently. I haven't learned a lot about video editing, but I watch a lot of channels and see how each of you puts your videos together. We've uploaded around 66 raw videos and one edited video so far, and have a little over 50 subscribers, so a LONG way off from "monetizing" ours. But I'd say that as long as you're bringing something of value to RUclips, then any small donations and gifts would simply be people's way of repaying you for bringing them a little joy. We hope to one day have a large enough audience on ours to be able to provide them some interesting content along the same lines (we've got a 30 acre forest that needs a LOT of upkeep). The wife has built most of ouor furniture, and we're totally off-grid as well, so maybe they can gain some valuable insights from a couple of OLD farts doing it on their own too! Good luck and keep up the great work!
What’s the name of your channel would add you as well.
Having Patreon is part of having a RUclips channel for most content creators. No harm in having it available.
It means producing extra content though, doesn't it?
We'll settle for Buy me a coffee then :)
@@solamano7239 Patreon doesn't have to be added content, it could be other perks, but yes most other Patreon content creators do offer exclusive content.
@@upstream1942 - Better for the hard-working woodsman :)
The fact is most people could not live this type of lifestyle without a source of outside income/funding. Take the funding and use it wisely to pursue your goals.
Fix lunch for the helo fishermen. Got to be some money in that. That helo costs real money. After you give in on this project the next guy will pounce on it. Don't you do it yourself; hire a pretty girl who can talk and knows how to run a cafe (no booze). It can be a folding table on the beach. That's all it takes.
The rafts float down the CO river from lake Powell and pull over to have sandwiches and what all. Two girls run it. It's part of the trip and I'll bet it's in the millions all together. Of course there's insurance and all that.

Buying you a cup of coffee will fill in my circle of creators that I chip in every month. Your building reminds me of my Dad!
Absolutely bees sleep. It's actually really cute. Glad you're warming up to the idea of letting people contribute. Helping you reduce your debt allows the rest of us to enjoy you getting settled. Remember in "real" life lots of people had people who helped them along the way. It's all relative.
It keeps getting better and just better
The greatest adventure in Canada!👍😎
Thank you for taking us on this wonder journey. Great views!
Hopefully, you keep this amazing channel affordable.
Some one send this man some anti mosquito clothing ! :)
Nice to have a friend there for help and company. I'm shocked that you feel so confident that going so fast on the river is safe from logs and rocks under the water surface that you can't see. Be safe. Great progress, thanks for sharing.
Your wasting your breath he doesn't listen to much advice.
Yesss!
I'm loving your journey. Here's a suggestion with the helicopter. If they know they are coming in to wait for fishermen, maybe before they leave their base station, they could try to get up with you to see if they could bring you supplies or groceries. ✌️
Exactly what i was thinking.
And I lol! Maybe in the future you can make a deal and let them drop on your property and you decide what you want in return..
Yes! They could bring you things you need!
@@dianelittle4326 - oh that is a good idea for the helicopter, at least it is something you can check out. In exchange for them using your beach as a base station, maybe do a trade in that they could bring supplies or stuff you can’t bring in your boat….
My husband and I enjoy watching your journey! Stay safe!
You have a really good friend.
Good to have a friend who is into the same stuff as you.
Very exciting canada
Your legit, plain and simple, your attitude of gratitude is refreshing, allowing your seasoned audience to hobble along on your adventure is worth its weight in coffee beans, lumber, nails and good will, look forward to your next episode.
The donations are just apart of the RUclips lifestyle you’re seeking. I think you can stay true , stay on budget. You can always squirrel it away for a rainy day that will for sure come.
Good luck friend.
You tube is the only thing I watch. I don't want to pay to watch Netflix and all those others that cost a fortune to watch, and it is just junk. I would love to pay to watch videos like yours. I am 82-year-old woman and can't afford much but sure would buy you coffee once in a while. I make sure I watch the advertisements all the way through because I think you get more from you tube if we do that. Your skills have really grown since the first video.
I agree, tv isn’t worth much these days. I only used my tv to watch movies on my DVD player, my roommate has the cable and watches a lot of tv when he is not at work. Granted he uses it mostly as a way to unwind after a long shift at work.
I don’t watch a lot of tv anyway so only do so if my roommate already has it on…😊.
There are a few channels I like, mainly the Foodnetwork and HGTV, the others come and go as my roommate mostly gets the monthly free channels which only last a month or two…if even that.
So I don’t plan on getting cable or satellite once I can afford my own place, it’s really a cost I can do without…
I agree
Wife likes the cable, cost a lot, but happy wife happy life, I like the real stuff, car repair and construction,am retired now,was in construction and miss it, enjoy the learning process, keep the mind alive! Thanks for sharing, from old Nam vet in his 70’s
Love the channel, thanks for posting. Looks like that new motor moves that boat along real nice!
Gawd, Shawn... you're so bloody...Canadian, for cripe’s sake. The most stimulating part today was the trip upriver with your mate, laying the foundation for the winter's meat quest. It got me thinking about how your whole environment is so boundless and varied... how winter is going to do that magic transformation again. The straightening out of the boat was the bee's knees, to think that everyone thought it was lost and gone, for good. Bring it on.
You can get rebuild kits for your nail gun that replace all the seals
As a RUclipsr, you have to pay for Starlink, computers, and cameras. Filming and editing take a non-trivial amount of time, none of which has anything to do with your experience. How it impacts your journey is a personal choice; not having to worry about money/debt is a blessing.
amen brother some wise words right there
You're my favorite youtube channel. You're living the dream. Thanks for all the great content.
Really enjoy your videos thanks for sharing.
You always get me with that zoom edit. I'm looking at the screen thinking "what am I missing?" I've gotten more used to it but it still gets me every now and then. 😂
Shawn you should let people donate . Thats part of being a youtuber. Dont feel bad about it. Because people have a pleasure of watching you building a cabin in the wilderness. It probably can help you build your driveway or buy something you nees for building. Take it
Yes, bumblebees sleep especially in cooler weather, usually inside of flowers. When it gets too cold (below 45 F/7 C) they enter what's called a chill-coma and stay asleep until the sun warms them. In the fall, the queen bees move underground and hibernate and the worker bees die off. Worker bees only live about 4 weeks, even in warm weather. Fascinating creatures.
Love your channel Shawn.. Every week waiting for it. Bye the way hope you are doing fine with all the wild fires in Canada!!!
Glad to see your videos.
Well you certainly know what your doing when it comes to building
Another fine episode friend...love the 'Owl call' breaks too. Must admit to being an 'Envious' Brit 🇬🇧➡️👍
I'm so jealous of your lifestyle. You seem very deserving of the people's help!
Stay safe Shawn. Added a comment to help your algorithm
EPIC!! ❤
Awesome to see how well that new motor works in the shallows.👍
I’d definitely concentrate on getting my cabin definitely the roof.
You’re doing GREAT brother!
Helicopter is definitely the last thing you could've thought would be dropping in for a visit, perfect spot to land though.👍
Damn your friend is a fucking OG. Bringing you a nail gun and helping you build.
GLAD TO SEE YOU MAKING PROGRESS...AND ENJOYING THE WONDERFUL PLACE YOU ARE AT.
Always looking forward to a new episode!
My favorite RUclips channel! Thank you for sharing! Plz let us donate!
Yes..please accept donations..sponsorships 😊❤😊
Shawn reward you viewers with comments or love/likes. Keep giving the content at least once a week. Helps build your subscriber base and views. Cheers
Dude, this is my favorite thing about Thursdays! I wish I could do what you’re doing & would be proud to help support!
I can understand why you are not sure about accepting the donations, but I'm glad you might give it a try. I definitely wouldn't mind showing some appreciation for what you are doing, no matter how you use it, every bit can help. I'll be watching for a link.👍
The cabin is looking great
Love my Thursday morning adventure with you and a cup of coffee! Can’t wait to see your hunting expedition this fall!
Go for it. What you are producing is way better entertainment than I could get on TV. I look forward to your videos each week and when you miss a week (last week), I'm disappointed. Keep up the awesome work.😊
Good luck on your journey. Enjoying the content!
Cabin is coming along!
Old Yeller comment!😂 Great to have your friend come up. Love it when you stop to film the flowers. May I suggest stopping just a few seconds longer for focus and our enjoyment? Thanks for sharing the adventures.👍😎🇨🇦🌊🌙🌲✌
You know when you were speeding back on your boat...that was fun my friend
Great video thankyou
Your so down to earth, no need to worry about authenticity. My guess is, it takes a lot, also a lot of recovering from setbacks, to actually stay out there.
As someone else wrote, patreon and similar are no different to youtube revenue itself.
great video bro, you are pretty hardcore, some fascinating content you are putting out there
The. Bear. Man. Is. Back. Glad. To
See. You. Ok. Be
Careful
You need a generator house to keep the bear from destroying your generator . Great job with your videos.looking forward to the next one . Be safe 😊
Still loving all the videos
Keep it up
Great job brother!
You're bringing us content with your hardship and any small reward or gratitude from us is just our gesture and thanks for being a good creator out there in the wild :)
Here is how I see RUclips. I can pay for Netflix or other streaming services and watch boring shows or watch RUclips and watch stuff I’m interested in. I figure for the amount of entertainment I get from watching channels like yours it makes me feel better sending money and it shows I appreciate your videos.
Shawn, you are the best, love the honesty, love the videos.
Follow your heart rather than do what others recommend. I honor your feelings of what your intentions have been in living this lifestyle.
Your channel is a gem🙏
Most people who embarked on an adventure like this would have some way of generating some sort of income or they would have some saved money behind them, so I don't think that having a patreon will skew your goals too much. Also, you spend an enormous amount of time and effort for us to be able to enjoy your endeavours and a way for those of us who are able to say thanks now and again will be appreciated. I have to say that your channel has become a firm favourite. All the best from South Africa.
Yay it's Thursday! Just love your channel. I think I say this all the time. Looking forward to the next one already.
Youre killing it❤
Really enjoying your channel mate, Dave, from Darwin, Australia.
Hi Shawn 👋🏼😃
You’re really getting along well with the build. It’s fantastic!!
Hey Shawn that looks like a great place to set up waiting for a moose to come by, bogs are the place! You're making great progress..... keep up the good work and stay safe out there my friend.
Thankyou Sir 😊
Amazing project!
Love this channel 🙏
Thank you sir. You are a great man. Blessings.
Great video !
Your new boat motor looks like the awesome much needed addition for you. Interesting, how the catastrophe of your boat sinking, leads to just What you needed. Your perseverance shines thru.
Stay safe and enjoy that ride, as we all do, watching along with you.
And Patreon etc will just enable you to get ahead faster, and ideally stay safer, and be a bit more comfortable as you Go.
You deserve all the assistance that people are wanting to Give, we know that your humble and honest. 🇨🇦🌲💦
👍great video
Exploring is good too.
Love this Channel...
Artistic flow and editing get better with every video! Loving your journey! So invested now, that I let the adds play without skipping in hopes that it pays better?
So jealous, Shawn living my dream. Great video Shawn, keep em coming, stay safe👍👍
Hey....if people want to help you let them. You aren't begging for money or anything. Do the buy me a coffee thing. Nothing wrong with that. We watch your videos because we like them and in turn like you!!
Hi there you are a great person. No swearing on your channel and a cearing person. I live in South Afrucs Africa. Look forward to more views.🎉
I love your channel. You are so down-to-Earth. Keep up the good work.
I agree that you don’t need a big cabin in the beginning, you can always add rooms to it as they become necessary.
As for the constant offers to help you out Shawn, I understand what you were trying to do…
So just consider us your virtual neighbours, long-distance neighbours at that…😁
Great video Shawn.
Always enjoy your videos. What a great spot.👍👍
