You get daylight longer in the evening but it won’t be daylight until 9AM or after in the morning . Days are just shorter in winter . It sucks either way
Youre wrong. It doesnt get light at 9am. Just because your weather app says sunrise at 8:10am doesnt mean it's pitch dark at 8:09. From first light til actual sun rise there's plenty of light.
Daylight Savings Time does NOT "add an additional hour of daylight," it just moves an hour to the afternoon from the morning. With this measure, kids would be walking to school in the dark during winter months, as the sunrise could be as late as 8:00 AM. I have read a couple of (non-political) studies on this, and both concluded that Standard Time more closely approximated human circadian rhythm. Perhaps the answer is to stay on Standard Time year-round.

It was not introduced during WWI. It was introduced when the rail road was built. It aimed to make sure that California was open for business when trains from the east coast arrived. In other words it was purely established to increase corporate profits. There was a huge outcry when it began.
It was first used in 1908 in Canada, then in Germany in 1916, a year into WW1 and enacted to help conserve energy, and in 1918 in the USA. Between Germany and the USA other countries started using it, but I did not feel like listing them out. You are partially right, and partially wrong.
It's interesting that there should be so much dissent as to the hstorical origin of the summer time change, as by all accounts it is a relatively recent event, and as such should be well documented. The most convincing account I have read to date indicates it was first practiced in Ireland in the 19th Century, for agricultural reasons. The fact that the origin of the tradition remains obscure and elusive "could" suggest it was invented independently at different times, for different reasons. Stranger things have been known....
@@gregfaris6959Ireland didn't adopt daylight savings until 1916. There were some small attempts before the early 1900s, but they were all vastly different from what we know as DST today. Some examples are moving the clocks 20 mins each week for 4 weeks in one direction, then doing the opposite later in the year. But even those sparse small accounts were all due to agriculture reasons. It wasn't until actual adoption that the reason shifted to resource management.
@@chaous2000 I'm afraid, at this point in the discussion, and notwithstanding the multiplicity of explanations I alluded to, you (or anyone else) purporting to "correct" others in their understanding would be required to cite sources, and argue the merits and demerits of opposing views if you wish to be taken seriously. Permit me to reiterate the jist of my previous post; being a phenomenon of such recency, one would expect the origins to be unambiguous and well-documented, but apparently this is not the case, and even multiple and duplicitous origins are not to be ruled out. We must therefore consider your well-intentioned post to be without merit unless and until you offer a full discussion of opposing views, the exact evidence supporting each, and a well-positioned argument in favor of one you consider to be definitive, to be argued by others.
@@gregfaris6959 it is well recorded and substantiated history, which can be independently verified with each countries own records. It’s time for it to end ! I know a lot of people, and I don’t know anyone that wants to keep changing the time!
I honestly don't have any decision on whether I like it or not because I don't care whether it's still being done or not or should I say being practiced because I don't pay attention to it a lot.
Time should be set so that the Sun never rises before 6 a.m.
I like it the way it is. Spend tax dollars on something important.
How is this spending tax dollars?
Daylight savings was voted against in California years ago. But, Congress has to approve the changes and has been unwilling to support We the People!
You get daylight longer in the evening but it won’t be daylight until 9AM or after in the morning . Days are just shorter in winter . It sucks either way
I'm ok with this. I need it at night more.
@@madnessofmymindYou say the #%$$ with kids having to go to school in pitch blackness in the winter.
@@johnlindblom1430boohoo. Daylight savings time is obsolete
Youre wrong. It doesnt get light at 9am. Just because your weather app says sunrise at 8:10am doesnt mean it's pitch dark at 8:09. From first light til actual sun rise there's plenty of light.
Some of us actually like it dark
Yes hate winter time crap! It gets dark early anyways so why the heck have it another hour of dark…. Geez I want more sun as much as we can!
If Americans want it bad enough we can count on Mike Johnson to support the bill in the spring
Senator probably should've read the cue cards another time or two before they recorded his take 😆
He's not a smart man.
Perhaps the answer is to stay on Standard Time year-round.
that would make too much sense, and politicians have no time for common sense
Yes basically sunrise and sunset will be about 1 hour earlier on 5 November than the day before. There will be more light in the morning
@@tahmidabdin4625 Yes!
It’s like someone mandated that everyone in this report says it wrong. Daylight Saving Time, not Daylight SavingS Time. Sheesh.
Getting our hour back this weekend....👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 And, we will be back to real time, yay!!
I like daylight savings
Its very true. There's even a link between changing the clocks and cardiac incidents in the elderly. Needs to be done with.
I suppose you blame the full moon for things as well 😂
A lot of this is from heart patients, who mix up when to take their meds.
We need 30 hour days 24 ain’t enough.
Lol
I agree end it it’s ridiculous half the majority the people want it to stay the same. The representatives are supposedly representing the people so get rid of it. Glad Pelosi is out of there.
If only half of the majority want it, then that is way less than half of the population.
Would love to get rid of daylight savings time. But Senator TUBERVILLE is the last person I would trust to do anything. He’s done damage to our country by blocking hundreds of military promotions.
The only people that need to actually provide any substantiating proof are those coming in and posting a version of events that contradicts multiple countries history records when it comes to this. The long storied history of dts, even the misnomer that Benjamin Franklin came up with the idea, is well documented the world over.
Arizona doesn't have daylight savings. How did we bypass the White House?
Standard Time is permitted year round by the feds; DST is not.
I like it good and dark in the morning. The darker and later, the better. It helps my productivity.
1:00 he said, "swinging forward and falling back."
It's 'spring' forward, fall back. It tells you which direction and at what time of year.
I think it’s ridiculous, who the hell wants to look at the dark at 5 o’clock at night. You go to work and by time you get out of work it’s already dark I don’t think it’s good for people that suffer with depression especially the darkness is proven to make depression worse but it seems this country doesn’t care about anybody all they care about is money money money I just wish they would think about all the people that are stress over this !
Finally someone with a functioning brain. Thank you!
Liberal Party member of parliament Robert Pearce took up the proposal, introducing the first Daylight Saving Bill to the British House of Commons on 12 February 1908. What a shame.

Stealing your money isn’t enough for the government. They also want an interest free loan on your time.
We have been asking for it to be left alone for many years !!!!!
Well if that's the case, what is the real time then? I thought they started this back in 1967?
People need to just leave stuff alone.
With homegrown terrorism, climate change, corrupt politicians, out-of-control gun violence, hunger, homelessness, our educational system being drug back to the dark ages, women's rights being taken away, and the list of a thousand important concerns we are finally able to make the whiners happy. I was starting to worry Congress wasn't keeping its finger on the important needs of the people but now I know they are.
Perhaps all of that will get dealt with when everyone is sleeping better.
Do you change your sleep time once a year to welcome the new year or change your sleep time to go partying on the weekends?@@geekcorerob
I understand why people want to debate “day light savings time”, but with doing this it lets us utilize the most of the sun light through summer solstice and winter solstice. Alaska proves that 10,000 times times over.
And leave it back a hour........give working people that extra hour of sleep they deserve it.
That doesn’t make any sense.
The 🤡 politicians have talked about keeping the time the same around the year for decades. QUIT turning our time BACK in the fall!! 🤬 Leave it tf ALONE!!
Leave the time alone, it's insane changing the time each year. 😮😮
It’s the only sensible thing the senator has ever suggested in his entire life.
Why because you're a leftie?
No. Because he’s a total idiot who’s never read a book word for word cover to cover in his entire miserable life, and the includes the bible.
I agree with leaving it one way or the other. The daylight saving time would probably be the better choice
100% agree. So do most people. But there are good arguments for permanent standard time as well so I do not expect this to ever happen unfortunately. If it does though it will likely be permanent DST.
That's been tried before, and permanent DST was rapidly rescinded. Splitting the difference is much more likely to stabilise the time and lead to a reasonably agreeable permanence.
Tommy Tumerville should go do his job instead of holding military promotions hostage. Oh! Wait a minute he doesn’t even live in Alabama, he should just go away.

Do away with daylight saving time. Outdated
Scrap DST!!
Alabama voted to not fall back an hour. I for one am not waiting for a broken Congress to decide what we need to do. Our clocks will stay on DST.
Well, Alabama politicians are moosetrumpets! Federal law permits states to stay on Standard Time year round, but those lot obviously got confused and voted in the wrong direction. 😂
Glad my crops grew with all the extra sunlight...
I remember when they tried to stay on daylight savings time year round in the 70’s. Kids were walking to school in pitch black and were getting hit by cars. Parents everywhere raised a big stink and everything went back to normal within months.
Even with the time changes we still was going to school in the dark regardless of changing time all year?
You remember that, but did it actually happen? When and where?
I was a kid in the 70s and I don't remember that happening.
BS
I ABHOR DLS. Nobody ever speaks on how many accidents occure in springtime both at work and on the roads. I PRAY it gets terminated. Pelosi would be the one not to vote on it.
MAYBE if we stopped the bllsh of falling back that wouldn't be a problem. DUH

😂 that's not how the schedule of the sun works. It shines regardless of what anyone does, but having said that, you might try Alaska this time of year, the sunlight has a hard time reaching parts of the state.
Benjamin Franklin was the brainchild of this practice, in his time this was applicable, todays technology and 24/7 operations around the clock outweigh the benefits.
There is no reason for this. The government just needs to leave things alone. Always trying to control every dam thing.
Tommy Tuberville spending his time on this rather than taking care of our military personal. He's a pure disgrace to the U.S.A..

they definitely need to change it one way or another and stick with it. back-and-forth is ridiculous. Honestly, I think school should start a lot later than they should. Who is getting an extra hour? It doesn’t matter what time the clock says my bodies on the schedule when I fall asleep six hours later I wake up.
