Great video. I've been very impressed with my B6 - I did extensive tests and with an external microphone the audio was as good as my Kenwood D72. Its a great rig, very durable and the stock antenna is the best yet from BF. With an full size antenna and external fist mic it really is an excellent rig. They are currently on eBay for around 25 pounds delivered which is amazing value for money.
I am preparing to organise an event, where I will have one team on frequency (a) and a second team on frequency (b) - (both using Baofeng 888s radios). Does this radio allow for me to 'scan' constantly so that if anyone uses the either radio frequencies I can listen to them, but speak to a choosen one only.
how long of a distance are these good for .? I seen that 1 mile for every watt ? so that means five miles ?? is that right .. looking for something on hiking trips sometime we get a little far apart .. but no real far ..can u help..
Distance depends on a number of factors. From the top of a hill, I've managed to hit a repeater 20 miles away. I've also received data signals from the International Space Station on it (200+ miles away). In a town, I've been lucky to get more than a mile using the supplied aerial. In general, VHF/UHF works just beyond line-of-sight, so if there are no obstructions between you and the other radio, you can achieve quite a distance. Objects in the way will lessen the range. Weather and local interference will have an adverse affect too. Attaching a larger/better aerial can help to improve the range.
