  • In honor of the 80th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, I put together this version of the “Munchkin Melody” made up of alternate pre-recordings that were not used in the final film. You’ll hear alternate takes of Billie Burke and Judy Garland, as well as some of the munchkin vocals that weren’t used. The only vocal takes that we’re used in the final film is the voice of the munchkin coroner and the munchkins 2nd Chorus of “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead”
you’ll also notice that some parts of this melody are in stereo. I accomplished this by taking 2 takes ogthe Orchestra tracks and splitting them up so one take would be heard on the left side and another take would be on the right side.
There are also some Orchestra tracks that were not used in the final film at all, for example, the orchestra at the beginning and end of part one were takes not used in the final film.

I remember going to the drive-in with mum and dad and watching it in the late 1950’s. Dad would hang the speaker box over his window and there was much excitement and anticipation. There were grown up boys and pretty girls dressed in fancy clothes who came around selling ice creams. I seem to remember there were hot chips too but I could be wrong on that.
They had a wide strap around their neck attached to a large tray full of goodies. We children were always dressed in our pyjamas so we could go straight into bed when we arrived home.
They truly were “the good old days”!

1:58 I remember my grandma saying this is her uncle (great uncle? I don’t remember), so because of that I become part of a chain linking the wizard of oz to supernatural (the show)

Never heard of June Foray being in it; she's not listed on IMDb, and they've found pretty much everybody who worked on the film, credited or uncredited.

There is not going to ever be a remake! That would be stupid! This movie is masterpiece!

Bert Lahr who portrayed Zeke the farmhand/ the Cowardly Lion was Jewish! The Composer and Lyricist YIP Harburg and Harold Arlen who wrote and composed all of the songs for the movie were Jewish! The little people who portrayed the Munchkins were little people and dwarves! Charlie Grapwine who portrayed Uncle Henry and Clara Blandick who portrayed Auntie Em were senior citizens at the time! The movie has a diverse cast! The 1939 MGM classic Fantasy Musical Movie is an Artistic Masterpiece and perfectly cast! You don't mess with a masterpiece! The adorable, extremely talented, legendary, sincere, very intelligent, very pretty and very witty, 15-year-old Judy Garland is the iconic Dorothy Gale! Her Academy Award Winning role for best performance by a juvenile for her brilliant portrayal of Dorothy Gale is Legendary! The movie is based on the1900 classic children's book by Lymon Frank Baum, who wrote Dorothy Gale as a little Caucasian farm girl from Kansas! The 1978 movie The Wiz had an all-African American cast with a 34-year-old Diana Ross portraying Dorothy as a Kindergarten teacher with all new songs! The movie didn't get good reviews and was a bomb! That would be like casting a Caucasian Cast in all the African American roles the movie Their Eyes Were Watching God!

Better lyrics: "The House began to pitch,
    The rooms began to swish,
They landed on the Wicked Witch in the middle of a ditch..." Etc. Since slitch is not a word

Slitch most definitely is a word! All words at one time were not real words! It is a play on words! Dorothy: "It really was no miracle what happened was just this. The wind began to switch. The house to pitch. Then suddenly the hinges started to unhitch. Just then the witch to satisfy an itch. Went Flying on her broomstick. Thumbing for a Hitch!' Man Munchkin: " And, oh what happened then was rich! The house began to pitch, the kitchen took a slitch. it landed on the wicked witch in the middle of a ditch which was not a healthy situation for the Wicked Witch, who began to twitch and was reduce to just a stich on what was once the wicked witch!
