- Let's pull back the curtain on "The Wizard of Oz". Here's a video I made, synching audio from the recording sessions to the film. Alternate takes, false starts, unused music, etc. Please comment if you like it and want more!
Such clean audio for 1938-39 feels like you’re there in the room
Every song was recorded in 1938
Judy sounds so frustrated at herself when she messes up she must've been under so much pressure :(
No, she loved recording! She would get the giggles!
@@PaulMcElveenno she went through so much abuse for this, she was forced to lose weight, use drugs, a lot of things, and the director even slapped her cause she wouldn’t stop laughing
As an "Oz" fan I find this very informative!
I love these alternate takes from my all-time favorite movie the beloved, excellent, fantastic, magnificent, wonderful MGM 1939 classic movie The Wizard of Oz that is perfectly cast!
OMG Judy is such a sweet heart I love it.
0:56 "The wind began to pitch." XD
Absolutely fascinating! Thanks for your efforts and for sharing!
Thanks - so much fun!
Judy sounds so exhausted. She gave up so much so that we could see her wonderful performances. I love her so much, I wish things could have been different for her
I couldn't disagree more. At this young age, she had plenty of energy.
@@boinx1234 She was drugged day and night. She said it herself.
Can anyone say what the men talked to Judy? I couldn’t hear it well...
@@martinemikita9281 If you've done your research, you would know that the "drugs" were sleeping and energy pills prescribed by doctors
@@aidancrotty5711 right... that she took during the day for energy and at night to sleep... so if u did ur research we are saying the same damn thing.
Thank you for posting this. Once again, the artistry, hard work, and dedication that went into this masterpiece of filmmaking is clearly seen. The 1930s and 40s were certainly a zenith for musical film, particularly as executed by MGM and the wonderful Freed unit.
More from the OZ production! Fantastic!
Interesting and Fascinating 15-year-old year Judy Garland loved making The Wizard of Oz! Judy Garland was very happy during the entire filming and making of The Wizard of Oz All Recording of the songs were prerecorded in a week before any filming took place!
Actually, these were recorded months before filming took place.
This is great. More please. This has made my day.
I was born in the late fall of 1978. I have many favorite movies! The Beautiful, Brilliant, Classic Charming, Delightful, Excellent, Fantastic, Perfectly Cast, Outstanding, Uplifting, Wonderful, 1939 MGM Fantasy Musical Movie, The Wizard of Oz adapted and based on the 1900 classic children's book by Lyman Frank Baum and with Illustrations by W.W. Denslow is my favorite movie of all the time since I first saw the movie at the age of two! This Movie is in a class by itself!
Another great video! Fascinating to hear the choices that were made. Now see if you can find the missing sections of “A Star Is Born” rumored to be out there somewhere! 😉
Talk to Michael Arick!
Broadway Classics So I hear! I even signed a petition years ago to get him to give the footage to Warner Bros.
@@barrystealey7541 That was my petition - he never responded...
Broadway Classics Oh, wow! Thanks for trying. Sad that he never responded. I wrote to one of the creators of a DVD site and to Leonard Maltin to ask them if he really had the footage ... they pretty much said it was very possible. Very.
I would give her a big hug 😊
Fascinating!!! Thanks for sharing this!
Wow what a treat to hear!
Brilliant movie!!!😊
Wizard of Oz = MK Ultra Program!!!
Was this from the jukebox section of the DVD? Very fascinating!
Interesting the technical side, thanks
Where did you get all of that? I would appreciate it if you have more of the actual speed voices of the munchkins!
All the recording session audio is included on the DVD and Blu-ray - tons of it!
@@boinx1234 do you have a file with all these recordings? If so I would love to hear them
@@meisdeadlolz I don't, but they're all on the DVD and Blu-ray.
@@boinx1234 Oh ok
Where did you get these takes from?
Voices at actual speed sound phoney ..!!!!
Nope, those are real voices from real folks.
What strikes me most is Judy, all of sixteen years old, and the adults in the room all speaking to each other on the same level. So much for the zeebs who want to say Judy was disregarded or bullied. They were all pros working together.
And I much prefer the voice that the Coroner ended up with! This one sounds like Popeye.
Is that victor fleming on the intercom?
No, the music was all recorded before he was ever assigned to the project, and wouldn't have been his responsibility anyway. At 1:01, Judy says, "I'm sorry, George," which means it's Georgie Stoll, whose name appears at the beginning of the video.
You forgot to include the sung version of the coroner’s rhyme at actual speed.
I didn't forget anything. I made editorial choices.
@@boinx1234 Ah. Ok.
Judy dice: "Lo siento, George".
