Thank you for yet another very educational video with a variety of examples. The polarising effect on the lone tree shot is fantastic. The scene just comes alive with polariser.
Mars, this was a informative video of the use of the tool for light control. I really like the how you can see the round stone under the water...well done!
Very nice looking town. I am amazed at how you have an eye for making a great composition out something which at first glance does not seem glamorous. If there is only filter to have in your kit, the CPL filter is the one to have. Used them for years and swear by them. Great with B&W photography - add a red filter (in camera or RAW post-processing) for fantastic dramatic skies.
A polarizer is a must for better photography. What a difference it made in the photos you showed. Would love to see more of Denmark. I've only been once, Copenhagen and Moen at springtime a few years ago. Beautiful country. We were lucky to have sunny weather throughout.
@@MadsPeterIversen I've been lucky to have strangely good weather mojo whenever I travel to a country for the first time. There was one day while on Moen that was cloudy/misty in the morning. But overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in sunny Denmark (lol, probably not what you usually hear!)
The white houses at 0:56 look like the Dutch small village Thorn ("Het Witte Stadje" / The White Town)... if you ever visit The Netherlands you should visit this lovely place!....
Polarizers are great for British weather when you have dull "nothing" light. I got some nice shots which when you looked at the scene IRL it looked flat and boring, but I coaxed out just enough blue against the clouds to give me something to work with in Light Room.
Magnificent for sure. If your'e ever going to Ribe again, I can recomend a guided tour, there is a corps of guides that knows everything of Ribe and the building of the Cathedral, and they are just so interesting, and that will for sure give you more places to photograph.
Great footage Mads, have myself just returned from a trip to Bornholm, although I do have Ribe on my to visit list.Nice to see you are promoting the beauty of Denmark as there are many places to explore, keep up the very informative videos your skills are to be admired.
Great stuff as usual! I've just purchased some polarising and ND filters for both my camera and drone, so wanted to get a feel for them before they arrive. This covered everything on CPL! Thanks a lot!
Wonderful footage at the beginning of the video and beautiful still images. The clarity and sharpness of the whole video is mind blowing. Thank you for your tutorial on how the polariser works and, although I am not familiar with the make of the filters you were using, I shall check them out. Another excellent vlog, thank you.
Very nice video. I always wanted to try square filters but never knew which brands were good. Most things I had read and watched on UT focus on the circular screw-on filters so I bought those kinds (B&W brand). I find the flexibility of the square ones intriguing for landscapes.
I've used screw on for years and still do. I only have these giant square ones for my wide-angle :) I think the next generation will just be magnetic which should be so much easier to use :)
...I use a trick for locating polarized light: point your index at the sun…then, with your thumb fully extended at 90’ twist your wrist and the thumb will point to the polarized area… nice, right? Thanks Mads, always informative stuff (and nice pictures too…)
Hello Mads, I love your vlogs ! I'm switching to the sony a7r iv with the sony 16-35 f2.8 and I want to use it for landscape photography. I've noticed you are using the Kase filter system. I wanted to use the the magnetic circular filters but was wondering whether I can use these filters on the sony 16-35 regarding vignetting, especially stacking a CPL + ND together. Do you think I can use the circular filters with the standard 82mm filter size or do I have to choose a wider variant (95mm + step up ring) or do I have to choose a 100mm holder system to avoid vignetting ?
Super video, Mads. Thank you as ever. Can I ask if you recommend using a polarising filter under grey, cloudy skies as well as when conditions are more sunny?
It depends on the scene. If there is water or moist in the scene the polarizer can make a difference. If there is no water / reflective surfaces it won't make a difference.
As always, your videos are interesting and informative. My preference is for the drone photos. They capture more of the architecture of the cathedral and also place it as larger than the houses more dramatically. The shots from land seemed to be too much roof. If I may, let me put in a request for your next series of Iceland videos. Have you ever shot Hengifoss and Litlanesfoss? I would love to hear your evaluation of those two sites including the ease/difficulty of the hike to get to them. Phil
Thanks Philip, yeah, I think I prefer the drone shots too :) I have shot Hengifoss yes, was actually the first waterfall in Iceland I ever photographed, but back then I didn't think of making videos from there. I'll definitely make one in the future :)
I am intrigued by your statement that polarizers could be used with drones. Since the polarization changes when the camera moves, how do you use a polarizer with a drone?
Great video, but what I really noticed is how the citizens presented and took care of their town and the countryside. Here in America that entire landscape would have been covered in litter and graffiti.
I was thrilled to visit Ribe Cathedral in 2005 when visiting the family of my Danish forbears. Your images are stunning as always.
What a beautiful old city and great photos. Polarizing filters are a great thing to have for sure.

Oh that damn Auto correction sorry Mads.
Your channel is the perfect example of when talent meets hard working. You deserve all the best, Mads! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Thank you so much, Davi! Means a lot :)
Beautiful pics and footage. Thanks for explaining the use of polarized filters. You helped me make my decision on how I need them.

That's nice as Denmark is often cloudy :)

It’s good to learn how you study the subject.
Very nice video! Some very nice tips here! I visited Ribe some years ago and yes, it certainly is a beautiful town! 😃
Beautiful footage, thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for keeping it simple.
You're welcome! Happy you like it :)
Thank you for the very informative and beautifully composed video... Learning while Enjoying....Beautiful...
Thanks a lot, happy to hear that :)
Thank you Mads for another great educational video !!!
I really love your work and how you do it!
The intention you put in your photos really touches me every time I see them.
Thank you ;)
beautiful footage from the air Mads and loved the uniformity of the building colours
Thanks Jim, yeah, I really think the air photos came out good :)
My first landing in your youtube channel. I love it !!
Thank you very much! Welcome and I hope you'll like more of my content :)
Such divine art!

I'll remember that! Definitely worth learning more :)
getting a polarizer was one of the better investments for me : )
Definitely a must own tool for photography :)
Adding Ribe to the todo list for this summer. At this rate, I'll be needing two weeks instead of one for a west coast trip.

"When you're in fields, you collect data." Thank you so much for reinforcing that...its something that I never always adhered to.
Thank's Mads for this video of Ribe.
More photos and video of Denmark please.
Would love to make more and more will come for sure :)
Again a great and very informative video, many thanks for it

Good advice and knowledge sharing Mads!
Enjoyed the video as always, thank you!

Haha yeah, that's a good trick, or just turn 90°? :)
I always learn from you. When I use a circular polerizer, I can’t see the difference when turning it. Is that a common problem?
Great video Mads. I just got a CP filter and my question is do I remove the UV filter from the lens first? ✌️🌻🇦🇺
Yeah, probably a good idea, else you may degrade the image quality too much.
wonderful

Hi, Robin, I sadly don't have experience with those. Check out Nick Page, he just made a video where he mentions those filters.
@@MadsPeterIversen ok, thanks for your response but which Kase filter system are you using then on your 16-35 f2.8 ?

8:28 - beautiful!
How can you tell if an unmarked polarizing filter is a circular filter or a linear filter?
Can I buy a large circular filter and step up rings to fit all my lenses with one filter? 👓
That's what I do :)
@@MadsPeterIversen which variable ND and CPL filter should I get when I dont want to pay over 200 for them?
