    My favorite art book right now is James Gurney's Imaginative Realism. You probably have it, but I just wanted to give him/it a shout-out. :)

    Due to your beautiful influence I found so many art books. Thank goodness I found a lot half priced. 8:42 I took a screenshot to share, but can’t load it. I bought several with illustrated journals, letters, with autobiography on women in art. As well as Van Gogh and his brother Theo. Ty for your videos.

    If you really enjoy portrait art I definitely would recommend Alex Grey's art book. The in depth he goes into his art is beautiful and amazing. The art book for any Don Bluth film I enjoy, particularly Secret of N.I.M.H or Land Before Time. The art book for Avatar the Last Airbender and Tarzan was also amazing to flip through. One of my college professors worked on Tarzan and a few other features and she inspired me a lot as an illustrator and writer. My favourite studio Ghibli film is a tie of three; Kiki's Delivery Service, Castle in the Sky, and Princess Monoke. I also loved the artwork in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Willow, and the Princess Bride.

    The Lauricella's anatomy book that you have shown is kind of my bible, gorgeous style to copy and study again and again. He published a lot of similar books for different types of bodies, if you are interested!

    I'm going to look for the book for Kiki's Delivery Service. That's my favorite Ghibli film. I love French Impressionism and I recognized several scenes in the film based on specific Monet paintings. I inherited a huge art library from my Mom. The most unexpected was a kit for watercolor pencils. Packaged to look like a book and hiding out on the bookcase.

    These kinds of videos are often disappointing to me. But yours has it all: each book is visually amazing ànd offers a ton of information, you discussed a wide variety of books, and I loved hearing your thoughts on them. I will add several of these books to my wish list. And should you make more of these art book videos, I'd totally watch them. I can tell you have plenty to show and tell on that subject.

    - The Artists handbook. By Ralph Meyer

    Art books are the stuff of dreams. Oceans, deserts, angels, forests, still life, plants and people -- the images stay with you long after you have finished the book.
    Sci Fi art books are even better.
    These are my 2 favorite art books on Amazon:
    - Aviation Art by Lou Drendel
    - Great Fighter Jets of the Galaxy 1 by Tim Gibson

    I love the Star Wars art books! Rogue One was actually one of my first art books ever and it’s probably still one of my favourites (granted, I don’t have many to choose from). It was really interesting to hear you say that the prequels had the designs that interested you the most, seeing as my favourite Star Wars aesthetic (I can’t believe I’m saying that lol) is very rebellion era. What I loved about the Rogue One book was how it talks about tying into the pre-existing design conventions of that era while still introducing new elements. I was also able to snag art of the Mandalorian which has a similar sort of vibe

    • @studioofmm
      @studioofmm  3 года назад

      It’s still pretty hard for me to choose, haha! I absolutely love Rebellion era designs as well, I’ve just noticed that I tend to gravitate towards a lot of the prequel era stuff. Plus I REALLY love those Episode 2 Ventress concept sketches lol

    For fans of comic books I recommend Mythology and Marvelocity, its an art book by alex ross which show cases a lot of his painted artwork for companies dc and marvel, there are many great illustrations in the book as well as a step back to show his pencil sketches compared to the finished product.

  • @fuzzydragons

    I agree the design work for the prequels is amazing, sort of let down in the movies, but its still a lot of great design work by a lot of talented people

    I just found your channel I love it! I think my favourite book would be Anthony Ryder's The Artist's Complete Guide to Figure Drawing. This book was so influential when I began to explore Realism when I first went to school. Even though my style has changed a lot, I still go back to that book to recall my fundamental knowledge.
