Yep! That screw wouldn't come out either. Mine was a plastic screw so I just cut mine off with side cutters. But my point for this post was I didn't know this was available until I saw your clip. It's an easy and painless upgrade for any truck. Thanks!

Just installed mine. I mangled that screw. Same type of fastener used to attach trim panels (push pin type).

My cable keeps getting jammed in between the taillight side of the strut. Then it’s hard to open my tailgate.
I actually had the same issue there is a clip that clips to your tailgate cable to prevent the cable from getting wedged in between the strut and the tailgate. Mine fell off at some point so I had to rig up a thick rubber washer and duck tape on the tailgate cable to fix the issue. Hope that helps you out!
Is that screw that wouldn't come out of the rubber block a pom rivet? It's the same type of design as that brass nutsert.
I'm not sure it was a plastic type rivet that was only used to hold that rubber stop. I scould have probably cut it off somehow. Did you have the same issue?
@@RedbeardOutdoors-IrishSetters I haven't tried to pull it out yet, but I have a dakota that has a bunch of pom rivets holding the wheel well liners in. If they're the same rivet, you have to use a small punch to punch out the middle of the rivet head.
@@tbot6666 not sure if that will work but cutting or maybe drilling it might it's very strong and flexible.
Is it helpful to put 2 struts on?
I don't think you need them 1 works enough.

Yeah it only slows the tailgate drop.
