SolidWorks will allow you to set custom key bindings for tools that you use often. I have a few set up, which saves a lot of time when modelling. My favourites are Q for "Convert Entities" and E for "Intersection Curve" when sketching.
Having a real mouse with a scroll bar is a great solidworks tip. When I first started with solidworks I tried to use my laptop trackpad - rookie mistake! Using a mouse makes manipulating the views and zoom smooth and easy.
