    The subtle color changes in that scene you mentioned are meant to reflect the colors in the painting Unclose Me, the one that made her feel everything. That's what Hayes does to her: makes her feel everything. You actually see them pan away from them and to the painting at the end of that scene.

    That conversation you guys had about Anne Hathaway playing insecure in this movie and the bikini scene reminded me of my favourite joke in Barbie; When Margot Robbie says she's not stereotipical Barbie pretty and the narrator responds "Note to the filmmakers: Margot Robbie is the wrong person to cast if you want to make this point".

    People are aging differently than they used to.
    Anne Hathaway IRL 41.5 is almost 6 years older than 36 yr old Anne Bancroft was in The Graduate.

    Can't believe Anne Hathaway is now in her 40s, feel so old :( Didn't Emma Thompson recently play an older woman in a relationship with a much younger man in Good Luck to You, Leo Grande which was well received?

    Great review! Another point about Solene's insecurity about the bikini. Yes, earlier in the movie she's seen wearing one no problem, but she has doubts when she's surrounded by the 20-somethings. She compares herself to them and feels insecure. Totally believable even for someone who looks like Anne Hathaway.

    4/5 for me. Wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did but when you have two actors having amazing chemistry with each other and feeling like actual people it’s hard not to dislike it. My favorite scene in the 🎥 is that scene at the kitchen table. Because as much as Annie is giving it her all in that scene, I think that’s a testament to Nick as not only a scene partner but also his ability to listen in a scene (which is a skill they don’t teach as much in drama school). Because watching him especially there’s so much subtle acting beyond those 👀. He’s holding so much restraint and wants nothing more than to just reach over and hold her hand and say how sorry he was that she went through all of that. Because in that sequence from Hayes’ point of view that was probably the first time in years someone not only opened up like that but talked to him as just a regular person and not a pop star (the way I’m giving a paragraph long comment about listening in a scene it’s evident I studied acting for years and a half 😂)

    I love this movie but normally don’t like this type. But remember it’s based on a book that has everything. In the book Nicholas Gilitzine’s character is quite the lover & the chemistry is palatable as it is in the movie. Robin Lee is the author & she writes beautifully. Anne & Nicholas make us root for them. 💙🔥🔥🔥

    As someone who read the book, I had low expectations .. but I think they did really great with what they had and with this storyline which is cheesy in itself ! The band aspect was really well done too, they did their homework and didn’t half ass the music or visuals (they could’ve done better by expanding these characters like you said), but again, better than I expected. I really liked the daughter and whoever played her in this movie too.. first time seeing here in anything, but I was pleasantly surprised 😊

    Showalter, like all alumni of The State, vibrate on their own frequency and when you sync up with them it's great and when you don't it's way off. But from 'The Baxter' to 'The Dropout' I'm always pulling for him so I will go check this out

    My ONLY complaint with the movie is that they made Anne look so haggard and grumpy for 97% of the film and then those final 8 minutes she’s wearing makeup, dressing more free and suddenly looks ten years younger. What was the point?

    • @moviemelody2210
      @moviemelody2210 2 месяца назад +3

      To make her look like a “typical” woman in her 40s. The whole point of the story is to push back against the idea that a woman in her 40s has lost her sex appeal and no one in there right mind is going to believe a glammed up Anne Hathaway has lost her sex appeal, 40s or not

    • @cobrakaier238

    The ending was ridiculous and this is the biggest fairy tale Anne Hathaway has ever played in. But it was a modestly entertaining streamer and I laughed a couple of times in the middle. The ages of the actors seemed to be off for everyone except AH. Also she keeps showing up where he is and nobody like tries to stop her from just going into his room. At least it’s better than Anyone but You.

    Ann Hathaway is actually playing her age which is shocking. Jennifer Lopez can only play women who are 15 years younger than herself. Maybe JLo will play 50 when she’s 70.

      A rich and hot young male celebrity will never pick a woman way older than him. Even worse, he wouldn't want to be seriously involved with her. Maybe a one night stand if. anything. Totality is unrealistic, and the whispering made it unwatchable.
