The scene at 3:55 was one of the most iconic scenes of all time for You Can’t Do That On Television, or Nickelodeon as a whole. The moment Moose got the rainbow of slime!
Out of all of the slimes, the light green slime was actually Nickelodeon's favorite. In which, that one became their iconic staple over the years. (Though, sometimes, I wish it was orange. Considering that their logo is literally orange, lol.)
Fun Fact: Every time a child actor got water dumped on them during the show, they would revive a 75 roller acting bonus, and even more if they got slimed at $150 dollars
This was one of my favourite shows to watch, I really enjoyed each show and it always made me smile and laugh. It was a harmless childrens comedy show then and still is today. I believe children of today enjoy watching this show on RUclips, it was just a really fun show to watch, nothing wrong with it at all…..
And those were the words we always waited for someone to say during each episode. The two questions were 1) What would Moose get hit with and 2) Who was going to say the other magic word?
I'm amazed at how well they act surprised at being slimed. I'm sure they know it's coming, but they act so well, their expressions don't show it! Most of us would flinch knowing that slime or water was about to be poured on us. I wonder if they ever had to do re-takes on sliming?
Sometimes they did if there was a camera shadow or something during the shot. Some kids did flinch when they were slimed but it was kept in the show anyway. For example, Vanessa in the "multi-colored" slime scene here hadn't been given the "directions" on what to do when being slimed (they were supposed to look up, even though Christine and Lisa very often didn't). They still let her have the "slime bonus" even though she wasn't technically the one getting slimed.
@@christopherbubb2890 most of the time they did know, Plastic tarpaulins were laid on the floor to protect electrical cables, etc, and you can hear the water and slime landing on the tarps when they are dropped from above.
I used to watch this show on Nickelodeon when I was young and it was the best thing on TV besides Double Dare. Of all the kids that was on there, I believe Alanis Morrisette was the most famous one
It’s because quite a few people in Canada 🍁 are brainwashed by the nonsense and silly propaganda, but most people such as myself, don’t buy into this because it’s a joke and two most people just want to be their own people with their own thoughts and beliefs, and don’t want any part of the Marching Sheep mentality that some people choose to follow and believe in.This was a harmless and fun show and never felt it was disrespectful in any way. I will never understand why some people get upset over a television show that isn’t real life…
Notice some of the slime splatters onto the camera lens during Lisa's sliming at about 11:19. It's also funny how her left side gets completely covered in slime while her right side stays clean.
There were only a few who were ever on the show and most of them appeared in a very limited number of episodes. Brodie Osome appeared in 19 episodes between 1981 and 1986. According to IMDB he also wrote a couple of the episodes of the show. Carlos Braithwaite appeared in 15 episodes between 1989 and 1990. Nick Belcourt appeared in 6 episodes between 1989 and 1990. Angie Coddett appeared in 6 episodes between 1981 and 1984, and Klea Scott appeared in 5 episodes between 1982 and 1984. On the whole your point is still well taken.
I was very young, and can only remember a few faces from this show, but none of them are black.. I just watched a few episodes here on RUclips and couldn’t find any.. But that’s good to know.. Preciate the info..
@@MitchellelOfGH No problem. I started watching when season 4 came out and Brodie was on the first episode I ever saw, so he is part of my childhood. I think I saw full episodes for Rules and Regulations (S4, E3) , Inequality: Kids vs. Adults (S4, E7), and Classical Music (S4, E10) on RUclips at one point this year and Brodie is in them. Hope you have a good evening.
The show is from Canada, and I don’t think the black population was very large up there. I’m from Maine and we had 1-2 black kids in my classes all through the 1980s.
Is it just me or does the beautiful miss Christine (moose) look just like the girl that plays cat woman on gotham....same nose and bridge and brow and eyes...almost the same face i wonder if moose is her mother
This was the best TV show to watch in 80s I miss when America got good tv shows
Dude I ain't alone in having the hugest crush on Moose growing up watchin this show... right? lol
I freakin loved this show growing up. Bigtime nostalgia right now.

Who is "Vanessa"?
This is the opening scene in the movie "Fatal Attraction" (1987).
Can't believe I'm watching this. When I was a kid, I loved this show so much! OMG! And I still have a crush for the dark curly hair gal. ❤️❤️
Same here + she gets wet
@@DW-nb2zc Hmmmm.. 🤔🤔🤔
Christine was my crush too!
Loved it growing up such a fun show had to watch it with my cousin every day after school fun childhood memories 80s was great fun times
This isn't just one of the best shows ever made.
It's also one of the most important.
I wished they would've made a DVD of this show. It was truly a Classic on Nickelodeon 🙂
Fun Fact: Every time a child actor got water dumped on them during the show, they would revive a 75 roller acting bonus, and even more if they got slimed at $150 dollars
The bonus was $50 for a sliming and $25 for a watering.
@@christopherbubb2890No, it was actually $75 & $150. Not sure where you came up with $25 and $50....
Will there be an additional charge for clothing?
This was such a naughty pleasure as a kid in the 80’s
I always find it interesting that they did water and slimings on the link set because it was more spacious and easier to clean up
I always watched this show when I was a kid. Love it!!!
This take me WAYYYY back. The good ol days! ❤😮😊
I use to watch this show every day after school back in the day still love the show
I had a crush on Christine back then

3:58 is where Ellen Gallagher (Ellen Hamilton Latzen) from the movie fatal attraction brought me
I so loved this show growing up ... always guaranteed to make you laugh 🤣
I had the hots for Alanis back then, my brother thought I was crazy, and back then I didn't know why.
10:23 it feels like a panda getting slime
Loved Alasdair!
loved this show :)
"WATER" & "I DON'T KNOW" the no no words.
And those were the words we always waited for someone to say during each episode. The two questions were 1) What would Moose get hit with and 2) Who was going to say the other magic word?
Tip: If one gets slimed, say "water" and get the slime washed off! 😉
Loved You Can't Do That On Television, it was the best better than nickelodeon shows now
I like how the show that gave Nickelodeon it slime was filmed in Canada 🇨🇦

Moose is getting drenched and getting some kicks out of it

Lots of things we can't say in Canada now.
True. On television or elsewhere. That's why I'm nostalgic.

Better to slimed and doused with water than the other way around! 😉
classic
Cue! You just said water
3:55 Slime recipe
Bet the kids had nightmaresabout slime
Wonder how many times they had to change clothes.
I thought that show was great entertainment.

Moose to the rescue.

Her name is Christine right?
Yes it is.
When I was little, I never noticed there were no black people on this show.. Not even a token..

Here's an idea, step out of the way of the water and slime when it's coming down. Not that hard to do!
But it might move with you…
Lol, canada
Nice to know even America had an irreverent sense of humour at one time.
I don't know.
