I've been playing TheoTown for almost a year now and man I say it's one if the best time killing game that you'll enjoy. It's also nostalgic for Sim City 2000.
Visually, it's closer to SC3k than 2k. The simulation features are even a bit ahead, almost on par with SC4, plus part of the Rush Hour expansion. Open TTD needs some serious mods to get that visual quality (doesn't make OTTD half bad; it's the traffic sim of OTTD that makes it good, and there are quite a lot of mods to add better looking buildings).
I just started a new city and 45 game years later... 97% happiness Intense traffic Blimp hangers, subways, bus routes Lots of power plants 24,000 citizens, and hours of fun. Tons of education facilities. . . . Building a beach resort soon as well as a zoo when I reach 100,000 citizens Edit: new town. I got bored and the grid wasn't working. This new grid is neat.
I used to have a 400,000+ Capital City back in the Early Alpha Theotown. I deleted it after a Year. I Came back in 2019. Allmy cities are gone but i restarted from scratch. I Called it Bionshan Town. Currently i have 482 Inhabitants in it.
Update: Bionshan town now has 20,000 Inhabitants. I have 3 Mig Fighter jets, 3 Blimp Hangars, Huge Airport with 2 Long Runways (3 On another new city). I also Built many Residential Buildings and put up Condominiums and parks. I survived alot of fires. 1 From a Nuclear power plant. 2 from a Commercial building and another 2 Industrial buildings
This is going to be AWESOME! We can build military bases and huge airports too! Show your support so we can see some more stuff in the next episodes. Fix those roads, build a bigger town, and get lovely MONEY!
You dont know how much nastolga the original theotown was (before adons, nuclear power plants, gas power, harbour, trains, and marinas) but that will sadly never be the same
I've actually played the mobile version of this game so I have some hints for you. 1. If a building or zone appears yellow when you try to build it you don't have enough money. It has to be green in order for you to be able to place it down. 2. You're only having roads going from the industrial area into your town but not the other way. 3. An easy way to fix the transportation problem is to justify the amount of traffic using the options menu. This worked for the mobile version and I'm not sure, weather you're able to do it in the pc game. This is such a great game. Please create more vids about it. Would be so nice.
You can speed up time to earn money faster. Residential space can be separated from industrial space via commercial space. Commercials don't care about noise or environmental pollution. Farms and harbors act as industrial. Farms don't have any pollution but harbors have water pollution. Garbage trucks will auto collect garbage and store it in landfill. You need to click and drag/swipe on the %meter to clear it. Same goes for funerals. More tips on your next video
TheoTown is honestly one of the best games on mobile and one of the best city building games on PC. I love it. Playing it without plug-ins feels like eating bread without butter though.

It’s great to stick to the 4 by 4 grid for residential and commercial, and 6 by 6 for industrial and farms. Another rule of thumb is to always lay down the water pipes and make sure the basic services are in check before zoning anything
I remember playing this game for the first time when it came out back in 2015. I've been playing since Alpha and seeing this game evolve over the years has really touched my heart. I remember when this was an android exclusive ONLY! This game impacted my life so much that I chose not to get an iPhone whenever I upgraded my phone just so I could get this game. It then got released on Apple Platforms for a price, and now to see it out on PC blows my mind. This game use to have really calming Piano music and that use to be one of the selling points for this game. There used to be only 3 disasters. Fire, meteor, and Earthquake. That's it.
This game needs more hype. If you grew up on SimCity 2000 and were disappointed by the following SimCity games, TheoTown is what you always wanted and more. The customization options are virtually unlimited and there are player made custom buildings that are just beautiful. This game deservers far more praise.
I was playing this so much on phone for last 6 years (alpha), glad to see the game recognized. To fix this level of traffic jam just turn off trafic lights.

PART 1: FIRST MET I first downloaded this app more than 2 years ago... it was kinda good, even if i didn't really liked building at that time. The app was alright. Then... i got bored, and unistalled it. PART 2: FORGETTING SOMETHING CRUCIAL 1 year later i started liking building games, i couldn't find a good one tho. Then i remembered that little game and... i could not remember the name of the game. I searched it for more than 2 days, nothing. I was very sad. ads of the game "openTTD" started showing up, i tried it, but it was nothing compared to theotown. I searched for a long time "building cities games" or somwthing like that, and then i saw theotown. A lot of things were added, like the P I C K L E, and some were removed, like the money industrial glitch. I loved the app even more. PART 3: CURRENT TIME i still have the app, i love building games, so much updates kinda frequentely too, cliffs, regions, multiplayer, plugins... so good. I will never get bored, and that takes us to... PART 4: FUTURE UPDATE IDEAS i will never forget this app, from its birth(from when i downloaded it) to its death. I will never forget it. Sadly, i gotta say that in a few years it may die, but i will never stop playing. Some ideas may be: MULTIPLAYER(BUILDING) build a city with your friends! whitelist a player to make him able to build in your plot, and blacklist him if he is griefing. for Beta it must be on an online region. The city creator is able to select what can you build or destroy, IF you can destroy, if you can cause disasters suck as fire and flood(most of them are off automatically) BACKUP make a backup in case you don't really trust a player, so if he griefs you can easily get your city back. The player will not be warned if the city has a backup, to caught him red handed. The owner can manage backups(add, remove, rename, select). PLAYER LOG you'll be able to check what the player did(Ciao_sonorp destroyed "elementary school", Ciao_sonorp builded "residential zone"), highlighting "destroyed" messages in case of griefing. Please like cause i took like 30 mins to think, analize, write and correct errors i made.
Im so glad I found it. Its awesome since its on mobile devices you can even add mods(plugins) and enjoy anywhere, anytime however you want! I recommend this to anyone that hasn’t played it yet. So amazing and letting creativity run even its even funner.
Id recommend every time you build a new block of residential areas you add a small block for healthcare, police and fire. Keeping those things oversubscribed is the key

Pickle is a "logo" of one of the game's developers, JustAnyone. He made pickle to resemble him, and you can find pickles all throughout the game. Keep in mind that you can install plugins (mods) through the forums, and the plugin store, which I believe is a feature only exclusive to Mobile versions of the game.
I didn't realize this wasn't only on mobile. I found it a year or two ago on the app store and it's easily the greatest city Sim game on mobile. I could play it for hours.
If I Chose Urban Planner as my Dream Profession, I Want to Play TheoTown to Learn how to Plan Cities, also I Will Fix All Urban Planning Mistakes all Over the World by Planning Using Paper.
This is more a homage to classic SimCity than Cities Skylines. Kinda like how classic Zoo Tycoon vs Planet Zoo or classic RTC vs Planet Coaster. Can’t go wrong with either game
My max people was about 130,000, the cemetary and Landfill had to be cleaned every 2 minutes. It was a year ago when the crematorium and the burner didn't work as intended

When you upgraded the road it removed the roundabout. Nice start, way better then my first village.. Which I nuked before I uninstalled lol.

As far as free mobile games, this is the best classic Sim City analog. Been playing it for years now.

Accidentally summoned the almighty pickle lol. I tried to destroy it by meteor. It didn't work.

Farms don't mind the pollution. Same goes for the commercial. Tip: Use a 8*8 space to build farming areas between residential and industry

I have 4 cities in that game, one with 220k, other with 275k, other with 70k, and a smaller one with 30k, its so fun to add plugins

I think, just like in SimCity, the higher-tech industrial buildings are less pollutive and have less impact on desirability for surrounding land.
