Right on my door step. There is Watton RAF witch is now owned by my mate. Sadly most under ground storage facilities are flooded. Most entrances to the underground tunnels all concreted off, but. There is still the training range, bomb storage bunkers and semi underground fuel bunker. Couple of ROC posts local with decent artefacts dating 1950s ( magazines, newspapers ) worth checking out! All the best
I was chatting with my mum (97) I was telling about all the US airbases dotted around east anglia , she recalled the Battle of Britain (that story never gets old) , we were at the "Squadron" Rosie Lee cafe at North Weald
Great explore folks....... a Golden Gem or three there........... you did make me chuckle though Ian... the guys shouting get down as Farmer drives by.... two in full camo... Ian in the middle wearing bright blue.... lol
Lol
That control tower could be made into a great house and home. Id love to tackle a project like that. Cheers for taking us along guys, very interesting.
had the same idea 🤜🏽
Dude!!!! You walked right by the paratroopers bicycle!!!! The curvy framed BSA is an original ww2 paratroopers bike!!!!
Really enjoyed that folks. Appreciate the lengths you go to, and the wet socks you go through to bring us these great videos.
Stay safe chaps.
11:25 is the pyrotechnics locker for the smoke and flares used for low visibility landings.
👏🏻👏🏻Another great and very interesting explore! I love the former RAF/ USAF ww2 airfield sites, every building tells a story. The old control tower was brilliant! It’s amazing how the trees have grown around the site and that balcony would have had a clear view of the runways . No trees back then😂 👍🏻
If you get the time get some big think wax candles and from the bottom of the candle rub the wax into your trousers. Heat it up using a hair dryer or an iron with a towel underneath and that will stop your trousers getting soaked. I've done it with my trainers but using a hair dryer and it works
Thanks for crawling in the tight places for your fans.
It's kind of sad to see such a huge part of history just left to rot away. With so few of the men left from that era it would be nice to have some of their past life preserved.
The control tower is crying out for a Grand Designs makeover, the building looks dry and structurally sound... would make for a cracking home.
This is pretty local to me. Never realised it was there but through the power of watching this video and google maps I've found this location. Will definitely go and check it out
The 2nd floor walkway always faces the runway. That is where they step out onto with binoculars
Best explore so far brilliant.
What a place so much still there! Great video
I think that the sums on the control tower walls are post war, probably farmworkers counting bales stored there for example
Captions about buildings very good.Strange BHQ.Looked like escape shaft inside observation tower rather than beside it.The odd pillbox had Turnbull mg mountings on loopholes.Unusual entrance.
Lots to see there. Thanks for the tour guys!
so close to 100k, can't wait.
😂Someone get the lad a torch 🔦 👍🏼🇬🇬
Wow, so many buildings to explore. Just amazing folks. A lovely bit of lockdown escape. You guys are brilliant. Looking forward to the next video as always. 👍x
Thanks IKS exploration for another great explore are you going back with a ladder
Who knows folks
@@IKS-Exploration you should explore predanack airfield in Cornwall
You made i laff quote"should have a sign saying fragile roof" my brain went what roof there isnt a roof 😂😂 never stop what you do
👍👍👍
Loving your channel, amazing how much can change in 70+ years
Fantastic rare find I wish all these remaining ww2 structures would have preservation orders put on them.
Awesome job! You guys are great! 😬👍
Yet another great video guys with some very interesting well preserved finds thanks for sharing your adventure. Stay safe and see you in the next.
Looks great place to look around, that bhq looked great inside
Given that it's not totally trashed that building should be preserved. Maybe it's a site unknown for most of the locals that are historically interested.
Even if it's a bit "off" it's also a good thing. Ham radio operators likes places that are away from other buildings due to lack of electrical noise.
Love your videos. Great trip to this old airfield. Thanks for sharing! But dude, really? Drinking salsa? I think I need a beer now! ;) :)
Lol
The 202 air tower we used to play in is being turned into a dwelling. Wigsley Lincolnshire.
That battle HQ was good to see there's a great one near to me in the New Forest you should LOOK at. Thank you for the video. :)
You guys should come up to Edinburgh sometime. We have a small island on the forth river that was used for WW2 anti aircraft batteries. Some of the brick buildings still remain.
Oh . I forgot to mention. You could even travel on foot from crammond beach to the island on foot when the tide is low enough. A party of people did a rave party on there but forgot to return in time as the tide rose again and had to be rescued by coast guard. I do reccomend caution when exploring these places.
That brick with the cloth wrapped around it in the command bunker ..!!....I so wanted to pull it and see if there was something stashed behind it.!
15:26 strange how there are no electrical or light fittings about, or any form of heating. Almost like a decoy building.
Lovely video. Great location. Well done IKS 😎
12:26 Nice little bird nest with some feathers.
Nice one, drinking salsa from a jar!!! Proper job mate!!!
As always brilliant, interesting and fun. You guys need to come up the Midlands sometime..
Hi guys great video it’s was amazing getting into the bunker style that was hard to get into and some golden gems inside which was fantastic to see 👍😊
I have some wet wether work gear i bought for metal detecting it's called scruff's the trousers were about £50 i highly recommend their gear 👍keep up the good work cheers
another great video thanks Ian
Interesting explore Lads. The tower is in amazing condition. I would of thought you would have looked for relics a bit more in the battle HQ tho.
Another amazing video. Thank you. Do you ever keep anything you find? Like the broken cup from 1943?
Hi, some very cool buildings left still. The farmer could be making some money from those old area's by turning them into stables to rent out. x
Seriously, you guys need your own TV series. That's probably been said before, but it'd be like Top Gear without the egos!
Some very interesting finds.
Really cool video and info guys
what a gem....
Watching now cheers guys
It annoys me how people seem too enjoy saying. How could you have missed this? How didn’t you see that? We all learn by experience. At least these chaps are getting out their and documenting this amazing history, before it turns to rubble. Make your observations more positive I say. Thanks IKS
Have you explored raf Yatesbury in wilts that a well worth look still got the squash court and some aircraft hanger. It was use as a radio training school
That was great thanks for sharing
What a shame our morden history left to rot after the sacrifice of others, great find
I dont know where you guys are based but you should defo check out RAF Holwell in Welwyn Garden City Hertfordshire. A decoy factory built to protect the real Dehaviland works. Its been done before but think you boys could do it better.
good video most of the shelters and airfields have been knocked down
or developed over ...you shouldnt avoid the farmer if its his land
he might know of some other hidden treasures .
Hay you should put black electrical tape over the red light on the gopro Thais what i do when im video taping people when they dont want to be video taped. I ask them if they see a red light that say no then i tell them its not recording then
13.20 says 120 Langford? Langford was a us airfield in Northern Ireland
There is an raf base in wgc no one has explored and is due for re development soon
a great video again folks I found recently a command and control bunker on a derelict Cornish airfield will be doing a video of it shortly but unfortunately the lower level is flooded
All battle hq i have visited have had room names chiseled above the rooms in the stone. Did you notice these?
Not seen that before where you from ?
Yes I've not yet to visit a site that does not have the engravings, as I have not visited the site in your video I was intrigued if you noticed them or not. On the stone lintels above each room like observation room, messagers room etc will be the engravings. If they have not been covered in graffiti then your in for a right treat.
I'm in essex Ian
19.42. The last word is 'asbestos'.
Great video
At 6:50 why didn't u keep going into the tunnel. Locked door? Or caved in
That was it folk only a small shelter :)
Ian straight up drinks salsa
Lovely folks :)
use a lens hood to stop your lens getting wet
Gents have you any knowledge on Billinge Beacon it’s just over road from me and I’m thinking of having a look later there’s some major anomaly’s regards to building near by there is also a tunnel that is still used by rail system any info ?
Not looked into that yet folk
IKS Exploration ok thanks for reply some really interesting stuff this way as am sure you are aware of lots of train lines now masked by roads lots of MOD / BEA / UKEA sites now gone and re purposed o appreciate your busy with your channel and it’s really good to see too. But I’d love to be able to get in touch and show you the area if possible thanks 😊
14:45 birdie
2 lightbulbs in a light mean airport ground lighting main globe with failsafe globe.
That amo crate is what blanks come in . It's not old.
I'm really surprised more wildlife aren't making use of those buildings as shelters .
Great videos, my channel is a military collectables one, and I have a number of ex military ww1 and ww2 binoculars, they are quite cheap to purchase and when I'm watching your vids I can't help thinking that a pair of old military binos would complement your military feel, but also be good for keeping watch for security and other things you want to look at that are too far off...just a thought cheers☺☺☺☺
good video
Hey folks! 😊
Why no torch ? great findings gents
They not aloud one lol
Canister with 4 holes in top are bomb carrying canisters.
The bike in the air raid shelter was a rare paratroopers lightweight, worth a fortune these days.
@Silently Sceptical aye, if I was in the area it would definitely be 'saved'
Hi Folk!!!
Airodrome is the Name for gress landing sites.
RAF bodney 4.5 miles west of watton
its an old control tower
thank you in joy watch .....jy
Tissues in your pocket to dry your lens.
Yes buddy got the beanie hat camo jacket and camo set off stealth tactical website
www.stealthtactical.co.uk cheapest place I could find with free UK delivery saved about £20 so was quite chuffed to be fair 😁
''Gopro audio is so bad''..........NO ......Gopros are bad full stop....over hyped , overpriced crap :)
