- Ghanaian entrepreneur uses shipping containers to build unique spaces in Ghana, from shop spaces to offices and homes. In this video, we talk with Thomas about building with shipping containers. This is what we need in Ghana. But instead of stuff like this people are using social media for fighting and beefing in Ghana
This is not what is needed in Ghana. The traditional method of building homes is more eco-friendly. Those homes are cooler in the summer and do not require the insulation necessary in container homes. Just because the western countries are doing it doesn't make it great. Many in the west are now learning to build homes with traditional African techniques, and the courses to learn it are thousands for just a week. Africa is ahead of its time, and you guys still dont realize it.

I’m Nigerian and was pleasantly shocked when I visited Accra. It was clean and well organized. One thing I will say, Nigerians and Ghanaians are two totally different people. Guamanians are more honesty and caring, and more civilized.
@@xmalcom650 I think that is the difference between nations like Ghana and other areas of the continent, honesty is valued and therefore society and government is less corrupt. No country is perfect, but it's easy to see that Ghana definitely strives to self-preserve and grow.

@Derrick O That's absolutely false. My rentals in Senegal FAR OUTPERFORM my rentals in Ghana. Im from Africa. I have over 25 rentals in West Africa. Senegal is number 1 right now and has a far more developed tourism market. Go and see for yourself.

Since we IMPORT almost EVERYTHING without shipping back, there are SURPLUS containers at Tema. What happens when Ghana imports LESS and exports more?? I like the ingenuity of Thomas!! Beautiful!

Someone beat me to my idea. Hahaha. I remember working in DHL and thought to myself these shipping containers would make lovely homes - all you need is a place to put them.
As a kid in the 90s I used to see them used as kiosks and houses all the time. I thought it was a poor people thing but now I know better.

I drove trucks for 30 yrs and 5 yrs out of that I pulled shipping containers coming off the rails via "trains." The most popular length is 53 ft w/75% being hardwood flooring. They're designed to hold 50, 000 lbs or more. So, 6-53 ft. container/trailers should be enough for a nice size 1 or 2 bdrm house.

@@BuildwithAmoaa Yes, 30 yrs... I'm one of the few Black men that had a "weighers and samplers [specialized] license" allowing me to pick-up raw milk from dairy farms IN calif. [mid 90's].
The only shipping containers I've seen modified into homes were on Y-tube. I'm a firm believer in "recycling" opposed to continuously digging, drilling and cutting into our Earth for more and more tangible resources. It just makes SENSE to re-cycle whenever possible.
