Your video is too good for a beginner. I was always skeptical of doing this and here comes this video which makes it so very easy. DHANYAWAAD. I e thank you a ton
Vicki, I really love how you explain, so clearly and at a normal speed, as if we were together and you would teach me. Thank you. Love your style! !!!! I am so thrilled to learn from YOU!!!!
What a great video! I never knew you could add a zipper after a bag was completed. Also, I like how when you do something and you look at the camera and say, "You don't have to do this." You are very creative!
Your video popped up as I've been watching recessed zipper tutorials. Everyone seems to have a different way to do this type of zipper. I had wondered if I could sew a zipper panel to an existing bag. I am thankful that you gave tips on how to measure the zipper panel and how long to leave the zipper tape (I always cut them too short). It's perfect information to have when adding a recessed zipper panel to a bag I'm making that doesn't have a zipper closure. I think I may do mine a tad different if it's a narrower panel (because I find it difficult to turn fabrics inside out) in that I will fold 3 sides in to enclose the raw edges. I also like the idea of folding back the zipper tape instead of bending it out to 90% angle It was a great video and I love your sew caddy. I need one - not only for small supplies, but my machine's plastic feet have broken off, so I need to protect my table. Ty for posting this video and keeping it up. It was helpful.
You may not know it but you are a genius! I only wish the sound was better, but honestly, I don't care. I'm just excited to try this zipper method, thank you!
Vicky, your zipper tutorial has been more than helpful for many of my unfinished Totes, thank you, and please keep on having these kind of Tutorials on finishing with style simple projects, thanks again from La Paz, Bolivia 🇧🇴, South America.
I love your sewing caddy! Brilliant. I have watched this video several times and am still trying to get my zipper panel to fit properly, this is the first time I noticed your caddy. 👍.
So happy i found your channel, you have inspired me to work with zippers in projects. My first exposure to sewing was a queen size pieced by hand quilt, 30 +/- yrs ago. Every piece was cut and stitched like colonial times. I bought a straight stitch machine after that. Love your work, and eye for color on projects are beautiful workmanship.
You are the best tutorial I have come across yet!!!! Your soft voice and expertise in sewing is impeccable. I will definitely recommend you to friends and will keep close in following your future videos. Thanks for all your info!!!
Very beautiful. I learned a lot about how to attach a zipper panel. I’m a new subscriber and I’m glad your channel came up in my suggestions. I’ll be watching more of your videos.
I sill miss your videos and keep hoping you will start making them again! I learn so much and at a slow and patient speed. Hope you are well in these crazy times!
If I could I would hug your neck!!! I am a newbie to zippered bags! Zippers have intimated me for so long. I watched literally dozen videos on how too. I have been so frustrated because I have had to start over several times. The thread picker stays out on my sewing table. But YOU made putting a zipper in where I could follow it and understand the instructions. I did have an awful time turning the zipper with side tabs outside right. But it made a beautifully finished zipper!! I am so proud of my finished diaper bag for my grand daughter! Thank You!!
Thank you so much for sharing your skill. I am new to bag making & this tutorial was very helpful. I watch it over & over every time I put in a zipper.
So grateful for this tutorial...I just finished a medium sizes tote and forgot about the magnetic snap, then i find you i'm so pleased to say I completed your tutorial and now know how to instal a zipper in a finished tote ...huge love
Vicki thank you for replying. I really enjoyed your video and this weekend i will be checking out more of your videos. I want to thank you for your time and helping us to learn. Thank you. Have a nice day.
Thank you for taking time and effort to share this easy-to-follow tutorial. I will certainly try to master this zipper method! Must say - it's very refreshing to allow the little mishaps, we all experience in our sewing rooms, to be shown on camera. Will subscribe for that very reason - shows what REAL life is like!
I know... As I struggled with my thread issues last night, my first thought was.. I never see that on any of the sewing videos I've been watching. Lol.
Thanks for the tutorial. I just came across your channel trying to find a tutorial for lining a crochet bag with a zipper closure. I love the attention to detail as you sew your bag. I would love to learn to make the bag you are making in this tutorial. Thank you again for posting the fantastic tutorial
Hi Vicky I am new to sewing and quilting and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your amazing tutorials. I have just finished making the zipper closure on a tote (pulling the zipper through wasn't so bad) and it looks fabulous. You have inspired me and given me such confidence to enjoy the process of making many more😃. If I did not live so far from your home (southern tip of Africa)😳, I would love to thank you in person. Thank you for sharing.
LOL, I've been searching how to actually add a recessed zipper to my already finished Yankees tote bag and after over an hour of searching, I found your video... Thank you. Love the fabric you chose also.
Just love your tutorials! I’ve learned so much making my hand crocheted bags. I’m so proud of myself for being able to add a zipper panel to my crocheted bag. Thank you for sharing your business card with me at my local Walmart in Las Vegas. You’ve been a godsend.
Wonderful video. I so needed this one. I have a bag I want to add a zipper to and will try this. Love to see this bag done as a tutorial sometime. And can never get enough info on doing zippers. Thanks again for doing this one. Enjoy your channel very much.
What an amazing tutorial, you have explained many aspects that I have been wanting to know. I also make jewellery so the little hanging beads is a great idea, and gives a really lovely finish to your lovely bag. I look forward to watching more of your tutorials, you explain everything so clearly it is easy to understand.
I'm so happy that I found you video. I've made a couple bags with magnetic snap closings, but wanted to know how to add a zipper instead of a snap. I hope you do a video showing how to make the entire bag, with all the pockets. I'm going to be adding the zipper to a bag I just finished and hope it turns out as well as yours. You explained it so well. Thank you.
I came across your video as I was researching recessed zippers. It was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thank you so much! You gave me some great ideas and I subscribed to your channel. Love the bag too!
AgainL you did it !!! You made it look so simple ...thank you Lynne and I would love love if you make that bag tutorial !! Looking forward to continuing making your bags !!!!!
Hi... I am a quilter but I just love your bags... Just came across your videos today and I love them... You explain your process with your bags very well... I love the look.... Can't wait to get into more of your videos on the weekend and hope to make one of your bags.. Thank you... by the way the sound is not very loud.. but maybe with my headphones I will be able to hear you better... Happy sewing..
Thanks for your very clear tutorial ,I follow all your video You're such a great teacher.(I,m not professional sewer i just love sewing and i enjoy making my own bags)i've learned a lot from you Ms Vicki😊👍🏻🌷
Vicki, thank you for sharing this tutorial with us. I finally found a nice looking bag that is a beginner's bag, so I chose it to be my first bag. The only reason I have not shopped for the materials and started it is because it has no closure. That is a disaster waiting to happen for losing items from your handbag when shopping. Thanks to you that will not happen now.
This was Sooo helpful. I am in the process of designing a purse and this is one the features I have been thinking about adding. You made it very easy and your instructions were wonderful! Love the idea of the loop on the end of the zipper for a bit of beading or whatever. That's the kind of thing I love to add to my projects. Thank you so much for posting this! :) Look forward to more of your videos! :)
Love this tutorial and all the extra embellishment detail suggestions. You are an amazing teacher and I learned a lot💓I like the little loop at the end of the zipper tab too.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. It was so helpful and now I'm going to try adding a zipper to the bag I just made. Hope it turns out as well as yours did.
you are really very good and what i like is you are real. you use regular machine , regular ruller and few expensive tools to show that we can make wonderful bags with basic toolsthanks again for all good tutorials
i was wondering how to make that kind of zip onto a bag and when scrolling along the craft video i came across yours.. thank you very much for the tutorial. love from Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia..
I've been enjoying your tutorials. Some good tips. One thing I do with zippers when they are overlong, such as the one you have shown, is to use my edge-joining foot to both install and top stitch the zipper. The flange on the foot really helps. I just adjust my needle position as needed. If you don't have the edge joining foot, most machine accessories include the blind hem foot or an overcast foot which will also work. I think I've watched most of your videos. I think you would be a good Craftsy instructor. Something like: Bag Tips, Tricks, and Finishing Touches.
Thank you for the great tutorial !! I love that you can do this on an existing tote bag. (Few other tutorials that I looked at start with a bag that doesn’t have the lining in yet…)
Hi, I just found your videos and I really like it. You are a very good teacher. Do you have a pattern for this bag? I am very interested in buying a pattern. I saw that it has been a while since you have made a video. I hope you have not stopped making them. Thank you.

Really cute with the bling on the zipper end, love it, or a cute button sewn to the end of the bag would be nice too...?
