    I've tried several techniques and never really got the hang of it. On the second throw using yours, I threw a perfect circle! Pretty damn excited, actually caught a few shad after that. Thank you!!!

      Thanks! This is the first chain net I have ever owned. Seems to throw about the same as a normal lead weight net.

      Chain is probably cheaper than the lead. Net leads are unbelievably expensive.

    I feel like your videos just get better, more conceptual, and more enthusiastic every time. This one does not disappoint.
    I'm a taller guy at 6'5...and haven't quite had the balls to stand in my kayak yet. My center of gravity is a bit higher than most as I'm mostly legs. I always net shad from shore before I head out as a result.
    My goal this year is to learn to throw my net from a seated position. I always seem to get on pods of 6 - 9 inch gizzard shad when I'm on the water (especially at night) and it's time for me to take advantage.
    Tight lines, brotha!

    • @KayakCatfish
      @KayakCatfish  5 лет назад

      Thank you! I appreciate the compliment. A lot of people throw from the seated position so I know it can be done. Hopefully you are able to master it this year. Good luck fishing in 2019!

    Thanks for ur time brother.. the more cast net videos I can watch the better. Especially when it comes from my favorite RUclipsr !!!! Thanks again brother..... The weather up here in the northeast sucks.. I remember just a couple years ago we had a major drought n the fishing was bad now the rain wont stop.. I can always find n excuse why I can't catch a fish right.....thumbs up

    You are the bee's knees Justin! PA just started allowing cast nets on the big rivers in my area which I'm pumped about as I see gizzard shad often but could never use a net to catch them. Now that you showed me the way of the cast net, I'll be out there making it happen! Thanks buddy!

    Cast nets are tricky on the kayak, for sure. Great safety reminders. I recently tipped over at a dam tail race while pulling up my anchor. My PFD made life a lot easier, possibly an understatement right there. Good content.

  • @somepeoplearedumbashell
    @somepeoplearedumbashell 5 лет назад +1

    Good video hope ya caught some nice ones. I throw a 7ft out of my ultimate 12 and I found it's best to begin throwing sitting down or on your knees to learn the feel of it before you start to stand and throw. Just ball the net over more and grab more in each hand to throw when sitting.

    • @KayakCatfish
      @KayakCatfish  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks! I need to practice throwing from the sitting position. It would be helpful to do that when the water conditions are rough. Thanks for watching!

    • @KayakCatfish

      No. Skipjack are extremely fast swimmers. It would be tough to catch them in a net. I use crappie jigs and spoons for them. Thanks for watching!

      I am incorporating more bait catching in some future videos. For shad though, I pretty much stick to the backwater areas year round. There is almost always shad back in the creeks and coves here.

    Thanks, Justin! Why not fasten the net to the kayak instead of the arm when casting? That way if you fall in, you are not fighting the weight of the cast net from drowning you in deeper waters.

    That is cool. I had a bait cast net and lost it on a root. If I was Steve Sherron, I would have gotten off the dock and dove under the water and got my net free. (But I haven’t gotten as good as him yet). I’d be nervous casting from a kayak. I’ve got to get a better kayak first. I may get another cast net after seeing this.

    • @KayakCatfish
      @KayakCatfish  5 лет назад +1

      Steve Sherron doesnt have to throw the net. The fish jump out of the water into the net for him. He is the modern day Chuck Norris.

      It's great being me. A couple days ago I went into my shed and there were 3 trophy sized bass in my kayak and I haven't even been fishing lately. I quit carrying a cast net. I just paddle up to other kayakers and they usually just give me all their bait because of my reputation.
