I have to say I adore all the classics with Joan, Olivia, Vivien etc etc...! They used to make amazing movies in the 30s, 40s & 50s! Its fantastic to see old interviews and stuff.
I LOVE her integrity just as a person, in how she brought every single one of those questions back down into reality. She was nice and never got ruffles but she put everything back into perspective.
Hey CBC. A Canadian here who has been living in Europe for the past ten years . Perhaps you could be so kind as to mention the journalist interviewing Joan Fontaine. I was a young girl at the time of this interview. Hana Gartner is one of my favourite CBC Journalists of all time. I’m quite proud of the fact that she’s one of ours. I grew up watching her. Fantastic journalism and one of the best!
I liked Joan Fontaine. Joan was excellent as Jennifer Jones' older sister in Tender Is The Night Joan came across in interviews as highly intelligent and confident. K hoped that Olivia DeHavilland Joan (De Havilland) Fontaine would reconcile. True, Joan spared her Sister nothing in her book "No Bed Of Roses ,but when Olivia's son died, Joan sent flowers and a note and Olivia never responded. Two great Academy Award Winning stars!
As I wrote for the other clip featuring this interview, the feud between Joan Fontaine and her older sister Olivia de Havillnad may help them live long. Both are amazing actresses; they must live up to 100 to witness their centennial birthday parties. By the way, who is the interviewer here? Her glasses are definitely too big.
Rebecca I really liked with Joan Fontane her sister was good in gone with the wind Hush Charlotte.nboth were real good at order seen supicious so good. Joan in that one . .
Massive spoiler alert from Ms. Fontaine! A fascinating comment to the question put to her. One has to admit that there is a depressing truth to it too.
In the several interviews I've seen, she tends to be argumentative of every observation made of her and every natural conclusion drawn from her own quotes. I suspect she was a difficult person with which to deal.
There were a ton of misconceptions about her, I believe, lots of misinformation. Having to clarify herself in every interview could make her come across as defensive.
First of all, so called 'Joan Fontaine" wasn't her real name. There was nothing wrong with his actual birth name, Joan de Beauvoir de Havilland. Most likely the change was made as the result of a greedy Studio or Business Manager, with perceived notions of greater recognition accompanied with monetary gains? In reality, it's also shows blatant disrespect for one's parents & their family heritage, just to possibly obtain (not earn) a greater buck?! The ONLY reason a name change should be done, is for a woman when she gets married. If a woman gets married and DOESN'T change her name, then she doesn't accept the sanctity of marriage or respect for her husband.
Omg the way she delivered the word "envy" at the end. Like a sharp knife. Brilliant woman.
Exactly!! I felt the same!!
Joan Fontaine was such a lovely actress. Love all of her films. Thank u 4 the upload of this interview.

and Hedy!
Thanks for posting! She's a natural beauty and her smile stays the same as her smiles in Rebecca.
Joan Fontaine in Suspicion is the best actress bar none!!
Still gorgeous and charming here at 62 .

This clip is a gem & classic Fontaine! Happy Birthday Joan!
popstarboy jj
She and her sister Olivia look so much alike and I love all their movies. Cool ladies. Too bad they didn't talk.
RIP to both de Havilland sisters. Olivia finally belongs to the ages on July 26, 2020.
I could listen to her all day!!

legend..
Talented Actress and Beautiful Personality
Brilliant to hear from these stars of the silver screen even more so because it is so rare to hear from them.
He did look guilty throughout the movie. But I see how they didn't want Cary Grant as a murderer.
What a beatyful mature woman!
Oh my goodness. Joan nailed our times too a T. Now we know why movies and entertainment in general sucks.
look

What is the name of the journalist in this interview?
Great movie. Love it.
She resembles a little from her elder sister Olivia. But it's a shame that they didn't get along.
@mismestera God, it was the 70's?
She sounds british.

I never seen it
amy clarke you mean you never saw it. Seen means you saw it.
so there was 2 endings, the real one and the happy unreal one, so he was a killer.
Only if you believe that the movie should have the same ending as the book on which it is based ;)
She's dead
Nowadays it’s mostly junk, bad writing, and worse directing.
