True this is Charles Ray Kasembe and Hemedi maneti with super Volcano. I remember them being a resident band at Ngangu Bar in Mwatate Town - Taita Taveta when I was a student Kenyatta High School Mwatate way back in 1981. Waaah, what a nice way to remind me of my old school days! Indeed this was the band of the season then. This town - Mwatate was awash with cash (millions) from mining activities of precious stones (Ruby, green garnet, tsavorite, tanzanite) in Mkuki area and of course plantation workers from Teita Sisal Estate. This band used to entertain and keep the night spots like Ngangu bar, Baisanda bar, Killeta bar popular. Mining cash rewards were so much such that a man will hire a flat bed truck, place a table and a seat on top of the flat bed truck and be driven around while enjoying his beer relaxing at the back of the flat bed. Money makes man mad! Even today, the town is the hub of mining activities (planning) in Taita Taveta even as much as Voi has overtaken it but, it has its share of mining cash. pls post more of his hits like kukataliwa ni kubaya, dawa ya mapenzi, kumuonya mwana, sirikutu etc RIP Charles Ray Kasembe.
thanks for reproducing this piece, it reminds me of my days in nyamagwa boys and my girl friend josephine,i wish her the best of luck wherever she is is.
WIMBO huu unanikumbusha RTD kipindi cha kijaruba hakika tumepoteza manguli wa muziki wetu.Hemedi Maneti (chiriku) na wengineo ORCHESTRA VIJANA JAZZ Ilikuwa ya moto
I doubt if this is Vijana Jazz. Hemed Maneti recorded this song in Kenya back in 1981 with members of Les Volcano. Charles Ray Kasembe, a Tanzanian musician who was then based in Kenya, played is on lead guitar. Kasembe, a former rhythm guitar player with Mbaraka Mwinshehe's Super Volcano, formed Les Volcano after Mbaraka's death in Mombasa in 1979.
In a popular Tz program called 'Kijaluba', this song was done by Vijana Jazz with Maneti doing the lead vocals. Charles Roy Kazembe was in the back vocals. This was back in 1981...
Muzikifun i am looking for the following oldies "Mama Niache Niteseke" Sang by Vijana Jazz pliz help. They used to go like this Mama niache niteske, Niteseke ndiyo nijue dunia eeeh, eeeh!
