Super Chase HQ had two alternate endings when you finish the game you'll have a top view of your car like Spy Hunter driving thru traffic. One ending will fade out with rolling credits, the other ending you'll come up too a broken down ambulance and help parademics rush a mother in labor too the hospital "bonus round". I've only gotten that easter egg ending twice playing the game.
Lifelong SNES fan, born the year this came out, and I only just learned about and tried this game. This is an EXCELLENT snes game. The driving is fun and challenging. The feeling of SPEED is amazing. I love driving as a hobby IRL and this game is the best I've played on the console to simulate highway driving. And of course the immersive first person view and graphics, all those little details. My girl Nancy. This game rocks, instantly just became one of my favorites. Sure, wish there was more to it. Or that your character could have a gun in his right hand. But what's there is still incredible for a 30 year old console game
I really wish Taito released the Chase games on modern systems. The Switch, PS4, Xbone and Steam have a whole bunch of classic arcade titles available in pretty much their original form, but somehow this legendary series is missing. Chase HQ 2 has never even been released on a home system at all. The original Chase HQ was HUGE back in its day, especially in the UK and Europe, no doubt helped by some excellent ports, particularly the ZX Spectrum one.
Totally agree. I’m from England and had chase hq on the amstrad originally and later on the amiga. I played the speccy, c64 ports and I played it loads in the arcade. It was a huge deal back in the day and a compilation is a great idea, I’d buy it.
I just love this game. I didn't like it so much back in 90's tough, but nowadays is one of my favorite driving/racing game on the SNES. There's a bonus mission where you drive an ambulance after the last stage it you beat the game without using continues.
Well, I just finished the game again, 15 minutes ago and, after years playing this game, at least beating it 2, 3 or more times per month, I realize that we don't drive an ambulance at the bonus stage. The ambulance was involved in an accident and we have to drive blood or something like that to the hospital for a surgery... Man, this game has soooooo many layers... 🤣🤣 Or, I'm just really lousy at paying attention to the "details".
That Super Chase Criminal Termination game reminds me SO MUCH of Lucky And Wild, an arcade game where one player drives and another one shoots at the bad guys, some machines even had 2 guns.
The Gameboy port of Chase HQ was one of the first video games I EVER owned. My brother and I were given Gameboys for Christmas one year when we were little as our first consoles, and aside from the packed-in copies of Tetris, we also received Chase HQ, Dr. Mario and Quirk the Chilled Tomato. Even at the time I could tell Chase HQ wasn't a very good game (it was just so repetitive, with 5 basically-identical stages) but since I had so few games I still played it extensively.
This came with my first SNES I owned as a kid. Along with Pit Fighter, the Animaniacs game, and Final Fantasy 3. You can probably guess which one I played the most.
It’s great to see you review this games and to be able to put it in today’s context. Until I saw your review the nostalgia factor had me all over. Now I realize its limitations. Keep it up!
I rented this game as a kid and loved it. I ended up finally buying it years later as an adult. I still enjoy this game every so often. It is a simple, easy and fun game to play when you just want to kill a little time.
Makes me think of that arcade game Lucky and wild, I think it was called. Only one player shoots enemies while the other drives in that one. Would love a new version of that for modern consoles
I seem to remember a Game Boy Color version that added a bit of strategy to the game by making it semi-open world. Basically, at the start of every level you get a map which shows you, in general, where the bad guy car is. You then have to choose your starting point and attempt to intercept the bad guy car.
The Chase H.Q. games are the progenitor to the Driver series, in my opinion. I remember playing Super Chase: Criminal Termination on MAME back in the day, and I didn't realise this SNES port was actually a port of Super Chase. Also there is a recent game in the series called Chase H.Q. 2: Nancy Yori Kinkyuu Renraku (An Urgent Call from Nancy), released in 2006/2007 for the Taito Type X2 hardware.
Nice vid again snes drunk, everytime i what ur videos u make the games intresting again, just like when i watched ur top gear video u made me actually buy the game
I actually kind of liked the music fade out and the siren for the boss fight. It's like the game says, "Allright, you had fun, now it's time to focus." :)
I don't see the Mike Myers. But definitely follow you on the second one. There's a great six part article series at Hardcore Gaming 101 called "Tracing the Influence: Stolen Images in Games" about this exact thing. They mention that second one in part 4. My friend, who introduced me to your channel way back in the day, introduced me to that too. My favorite is the Arnold "genki drink" CM one.
Nope, it's clearly Han and Lando from Empire Strikes Back. They took Ford and gave him a stache and removed it from Billy Dee Williams, making him look like Chiwetel Ejiofor (aka Baron Mordo in Dr. Strange)
I still recommend both this and the Genesis games. It's not a game that's going to keep you enthralled for days or even hours, but I still think it's really fun to sit down and try and play through every now and then. Fun pick up and play games if you're just looking for a quick burst of retro fun.
i have found memories of regular chase HQ for the game boy, yes, hard and kinda slow but awesome on the go for the time, thanks for the good memories man! BTW, you can find arcade chase HQ and its sequel on taito legends compilation (only the japanese though...they always get the good stuff) for PS2...i know not old enough but give it a try if don't own it yet and if you enjoy those games. thx for the vid as always, keep the good work!
Man I'm not sure which chase hq it was but you had to crash into flaming barrels that blew you up towards the chopper where I got glitched and I landed on top of the chopper and everytime it hit it it was blown further up it was so cool
Ah yes, Chase HQ. There’s something so satisfying to the primal senses of beating up someone else’s car into submission while moving up to speeds of over a hundred miles per hour. Also, the world port of the first Chase HQ has one of the best, if not _the_ best, 80s voice sampling and acting I ever heard from an arcade machine. Your partner Raymond Brody just sounds so smooth.
Funny covers. All it takes is some beat up cars trying to crash into eachother on the cover and Im pretty much sold. Always obsessed with cars crashing. ha ha. Ive had some fun with that series. Some of them are a little too choppy for my tastes, so its mixed for me. Its a minor detail but I like that you mention how many continues a game has when covering it. Im always looking for easy victims to add to the kill list and even harder games I like having an idea of the type of game it is (memorize the whole game, or memorize each level)
MAN! I forgot all about this game! It was wicked fun too. The trick is this game isn't supposed to be taken seriously. "This is Nancy" used to crack my brother and I up.
I fucking love the Chase HQ arcade cabinet. I also have fond memories of playing S.C.I. in the arcade too. I absolutely would love to play both of them again. Dear fucking god I miss arcades. You kids don’t even know you’re born. I remember when all this was just fields...... 😭
There existed a game, similar to Chase HQ in the arcades back in the 90's, where on the left side it had a steering wheel while on the right, it had a gun.
Good vid, thanks Snes Drunk! The music is pretty good. Speaking of Driving game music, have you ever listened to Hang On Genesis soundtrack? Any chance to see an "Arcade drunk" one day? Have a good one.
Would have been amazing if it were like lethal enforcers but with one person driving and one person gunning, or you can drive with one hand and use the light gun with the other! That would be sweet. Looks cool anyhow
Absolutely loved super chase - criminal termination in the arcade.... totally another level compared to the snes version. Go emulate and enjoy one of the best super-sprite-scalers from taito! Edit - i was wondering when you was going to cover this little sleeper....
I remember the pcengine version of one of these games that was kinda cool, and when you reached your target you partner reach over the hood and you could shoot at the criminal, that was much better than just ramming like a más man
I think i saw this game on another youtube channel. This game looks fantastic but i can see why you can say it would get repetitive and boring. Great video Drunk, keep up the great work and content.
I first played this on my spectrum+2A and like most spectrum games it was diabolically bad. After that I had it on my master system and I was blown away at how better it was. Then I had it on my SNES and again it was way better. Never thought back then that in the future (now) I would have a SNES emulator on my phone and a mega drive emulator on it too with 215 games for the SNES and 205 for the mega drive. Hooks up to my ps pad no probs and they play absolutely great. It's crazy to think all that is on my phone.
@DejaVoodooDoll Wow, that was a detailed response. I was mostly dreaming, but I think the most realistic approach I think we could see is an unofficial port made after its era by talented programmers, something like SF2 on msx, but using full SNES capabilities.
Any chance for a review of "B.O.B." from EA?? It's an awesome run-and-gun/platformer with a nice variety of weapons and gadgets, pretty sweet music with nice sprite work. Screams 90s. Nobody talks about it on the SNES, or the virtually identical port on Genesis. It's a really good game that is a total actual hidden gem. Thanks for another great review video!
If you want a 1st person driving game with guns there's Outlander on the Sega Genesis. It's pretty good actually. Much more interesting than SNES Outlander, which is a more standard behind the car racer.

As a huge sega fan I didnt even know such game as super chase hq exists, so thank you Drunk, as always, big greetings from Russia and best wishes ;)

Just tried it out 2weeks ago for the first time on my modded ps classic. Thanks for the review.
The second cover art must be a Miami Vice Crockett and Tubbs homage. The guy to the left looks just like Don Johnson only with a mustache.
Nope, it's clearly Han and Lando from Empire Strikes Back. They took Ford and gave him a stache and removed it from Billy Dee Williams, making him look like Chiwetel Ejiofor (aka Baron Mordo in Dr. Strange)
I got a Charles Bronson vibe from the guy.
They're both Miami Vice knock-offs. The first is definitely chasing that Don Johnson vibe while the second is Han Solo and Tubbs.

The arcade game looks like it’d be really hard to play between the perspective, speed, and graphics of the time
The arcade graphics reminds me of Sega’s Power Drift.

The first person reminds me of Lucky and Wild! Similar idea but you and a second player can fire back as the first player is also driving.
