As much as I agree that scripture was God breathed, the writers were still human and could have written these verses more clearly to avoid the mass division that followed in the centuries to come. God is not the author of confusion, but some of these writers were.
Let me just say that a man can not perform sexually if he is too drunk. So Lot had to have enough alcohol to reduce his inhibitions but not enough that he was unaware of what was going. Alcohol numbs. If you know what I mean.
