I have compared image resize and enhance. I took a picture and enhanced it twice by saving the dng as a tiff and then enhance this tiff a second time. Then I enlarged the original photo 400% and dragged it into the same document for comparison. At first sight at 100% zoom the results seemed almost identical, but once I started zooming in I saw more sharpness, better edges in the enhanced version. But then I saw where this feature really differs ... In the photo there was a woolen glove and the knitting patterns in the image resize version did not continue correctly, while they did in the enhance version. Actually, those patterns were blurred in the original version, but very clear on the enhanced version. So basically it created something that wasn't originally there.

Hi,I have camera raw 13.2 and used one of your tutorial images but when I right click on the image in camera raw , the option I have is "enhance details " and I do not have the super resolution option . Any suggestions appreciated Peter Haines
Peter, if you do not have Super Resolution and just Enhance Details it means that Camera Raw was not updated. Did you check from your creative cloud app to make sure Camera Raw was updated?
I have Photoshop 2021 with Raw (not PS CC). When I go to help / Plug ins / Camera Raw it shows i've got 2020 version 13.1.0.658. When I try do do an update it tells me I have the latest Camera Raw. Do I need to use Photoshop CC rather than Photoshop 2021 to use the technology available on version 13.2? I haven't moved toward CC as i keep my photos and back ups on local hard drives.
Ron, Photoshop 2021 is Photoshop "CC." Adobe dropped the "CC" a few versions ago. Unless you want to, Photoshop 2021 does not save to the cloud. So you can keep your files as they are in your local hard drive. If you have Photoshop 2021 with the latest version of Camera Raw then you should be able to use it. Make sure you are using the Camera Raw plug in from Bridge, or from Photoshop, go to Open As (NOT Open). From the file type dropdown select Camera raw. Then find your file on your computer.
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel Ok. great. That definitely helps me with the understanding the difference with CC vs. 2021. Thanks Jesus ! .... I tried the super Res. on a PSD file of my image but PSD doesn't work with camera raw plug in. So I converted it to JPEG then Tiff. Both gave me a message saying my images were not compatible with this feature and i needed to work with a 'Bayer type sensor raw image'... I went back to my original file which is a DNG and that DID work.. Unfortunately, I've made many changes from the original image which is now nothing like the original and they are now in the PSD format...... jpeg and tiff will open with camera raw but won't do the super res conversion. I probably just can't be helped with this particular image??
Great Video. Not just trying to tear it down like other Tubers did. I got some real amazing results with portraits and city scapes from 18 and 20 MP canon sensor raws... . I found jpgs didn't work that well for me. Also some natural patterns seem to be difficult for the AI still. Some results actually had digital artefacts, so you have to check your result ... and adjust noise and sharpening as you mentioned 👍

hi, your videos are excellent and amazing. there are so cool and informative. only because of your tutorials I became perfect in photoshop. so please can you also make tutorials on adobe illustrator
Jesus, I was having a problem with right clicking on a picture in Bridge and there was no "Open in Camera Raw" in the pop up list. Also the icon for "Open in Camera Raw" you showed us was grayed out. So in Bridge I went to Edit > Camera Raw Preferences > and in the resulting dialogue box select File Handling. In the section JPEG and TIFF Handling, I changed the JPEG: and TIFF: boxes to "Automatically open all supported ____" in each and fixed my problem. Hope this helps anyone else having my problem. As always the tutorial was great, thank you.
Interesting but I'm not convinced that the quality will be good enough. The lens chromatic distortion was way off and the enlargement really exaggerated this. It would be interesting to see the results using ACR chromatic correction, ' before ' up sampling and using it ' after ' the enlargement.
Generally speaking, it does add artifacts. After all, you're doubling the linear resolution. It's not by any means perfect. But in a lot of cases, the overall image enlargement works better than anything else in Photoshop.
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel I am comparing with Topaz Gigapixel AI, though I have not compared the two in a precise way. My initial reaction is, that Photoshop is less pleasant to look at with a 2:1 enlargement, but I could be wrong.
I wonder how it compares to On 1’s Resize app. Adobe’s UI sure looks better, at least. By the way the subscribe animation and bell sound are really annoying IMO. On other channels I always give a thumb down whenever the host doesn’t mute the bell sound. Just a feedback.
Well, they're both used for upscaling. But the way of doing it is different. Since this uses machine learning technology it should give you better results.
when i open the images on photoshop, the quality always shows up as 240 ppi how could I get it up to 300 ppi ? i’m a beginner and would appreciate your help :) thanks
I'm not getting it. Nothing changed except the size. It changed from 72ppi to 300ppi. Big deal. The actual photo had no noticeable difference. I did see something that I need addressed. When I click off the Super Resolution nothing happens and the Raw Details won't allow me to click it. It says "Applicable only to Bayer and XTrans raw files." What does that mean?
Bayer and XTrans raw files are the most common types of raw files. Bayer is used by Sony, Nikon Canon, while XTrans are used by Fuji. Nothing happening is sort of the point. So this is meant to make your image larger without losing detail or getting blurred edges. In other words, is supposed to look the same when you make an image larger. In some cases, the detail enhancements may give off the appearance of more detail.
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel Thanks so much. I thought something was wrong because your Photoshop shows differently. When I hold the cursor over my image to see the before and after, I see no change. I just see the image is larger, but no sharper.
It's not a perfect solution, and it gives you better results in raw images. Also, generally speaking, this will give you better results than other enlargement tools in Photoshop.
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel I am on the latest of both, yes. It comes up and says it does not support JPEG files with an "Unsupported file format" error. I've tried it on several different JPEGS just in case there may have been an error with one. I've tried it with .jpeg extension and .jpg extension.
@@Alphadragon1979 That's so weird it works fine on my end on a jpg. Does it work on a raw image on your machine? If you don't have one you can download the one from the link in the description of this video.
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel I will give that a try a little later today and let you know if it did. I find it strange too, everyone says it's suppose to work, so I'm a little baffled.
I get a warning flag that says "Enhance requires graphic card with Metal Support" It has a "Learn more button but only goes on to explain details of the enhance feature but not the "Metal Support" requirement.
I have tried using this on various jpg and raw files up to about 10MB. The results were not satisfactory and strange artefacts were left randomly across the image. So it must be graphics card dependent. I'm using Intel on board graphics which is admittedly cheap and cheerful and I was expecting a time penalty but this was a disappointment.
Hi, Lisa! Did you try Sue's suggestion? It should work. Also, from Photoshop, go to Open As (NOT Open). From the File Type dropdown select Camera raw. Then find your file on your computer.

I know you did this video 4 months ago but I hope you see this comment. I was running a photo thru Topaz Sharpen AI and notice that it displays an image that I enhanced in Adobe at it's original size. That is, it displays the original dng and the 4x enhanced version at the same size, 100%. If I look at the images in Lightroom or Photoshop they show the enhanced version at the correct, enlarged, size. Have you experienced this? What's going on?
Both this guy and piximperfect always leave things out of their tutorials. So, where are we supposed to find this camera raw plug in? I have PScc, is it available? I have regular camera raw, what's the plug in?
As I mentioned in the video, if you use Bridge, you don't have to worry about the filter since it will take you straight to the Plugin. If you want to open a raw image then from Photoshop just open it as you would any other image. What I didn't mention in the video is that if you want to open a JPG, PNG, or Tiff from Photoshop you can go to Open As (NOT Open). From the file type dropdown select Camera raw. Then find your file on your computer.
Amazing New Feature with disappointing results. Lots of chromatic abberation. I got similar results with image size + a few sharpen filters. Machine needs to learn a lot.
Nobody seems to care to mention that you need to have a special Graphics card to be able to use the feature, as if we don't have to buy enough material as it is. Long live the age of obsolescence!

George, every version of Photoshop has always had minimum requirements. I know it is frustrating when things don't work for you. I've had the same issues before and I know how annoying it can be. Adobe and all other companies design their new software to work with the new hardware available to take make better tools. Remember, Photoshop is a professional tool and it is designed as such. But they do try to make it work on machines with slower hardware as much as possible. The age of the hardware is less important than the capacity it has. You could buy a new computer today without a GPU and it wouldn't work as well (or at all) either. To know the requirements that you need for the latest version of photoshop you can check this link: helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/system-requirements.html

Here we go!
👍🙂
Hey everyone, could someone tell me how to make the brush tilt/rotate so its not painting the frontview but instead its flat on the x axis, like when I want to pain on the floor or ground, hope you understand what I mean, and TIA....
Window > Brush Settings. the use the Circular brush icon to the right of the Angle box to squish it together.
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel Wow thanks you for taking the time to reply, I feel a bit dumb now, I always see that setting, but never mess with the roundness, just the rotation, thanks you very much...
Great new feature. But can you tell me how much of a difference does this enhance feature makes compared to the old photoshop one?
Rohit, Which old feature are you referring to?
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel I'm talking about the resampling method in the Image size tab
@@kangthebonkerer This uses a Machine Learning model. It is much better in most cases.

Amazing Jesus, thank you! How can we open acr plugin from inside the photoshop?
from Photoshop, go to Open As (NOT Open). From the file type dropdown select Camera raw. Then find your file on your computer.
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel i was just watching streams on adobe cc channel featuring you, and you replied. thank you and take care master, i hope i'll meet you one day teacher!
what is software which use in all photo studios
Well, not ALL studios use the same. Either Lightroom or Photoshop are used in most.
My GPU is old and lazy, like me--took 5 minutes, and I have never heard so much spinning and crazy whirring sounds come out of my computer! It kept going higher and higher until processing finished, and then silence again.
Yeah, Michael, unfortunately, this heavily relies on your GPU. Are you an a laptop? or just an older desktop. It sounds like it was working hard!
9 year old Dell XP8500 w/NVIDIA GeForce GT 640. With a few changes over the years. Windows 10 and a solid state drive, a bit more RAM...it's a DINOSAUR!
Nice
Thank you, bugdet photography!
I would imagine that if you’re using a small jpeg file, that it might help to use the Neural filter that compensates for compression first, before enhancing.
hi, your videos are excellent and amazing. there are so cool and informative. only because of your tutorials I became perfect in photoshop. so please can you also make tutorials on adobe illustrator
That's a cool feature. What I am missing is the possibility to tweak it, if it's overcooked and artefacts show up... 🤔
Interesting but I'm not convinced that the quality will be good enough. The lens chromatic distortion was way off and the enlargement really exaggerated this. It would be interesting to see the results using ACR chromatic correction, ' before ' up sampling and using it ' after ' the enlargement.
Yeah, Mel. I agree. I should have added the ACR Chromatic correction to make it less noticeable.
Nice.. I also like doing creative thing with photos...
Thank you, AMG Point!
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel Most welcome...
Don't use all of the Photoshop features but for something specific...I can refer back to PTC Channel for quick answers. Thanks JR
How can I download adobe bridge?
it deos not work on JPG
Didn't the enlargement create a lot of artifacts?
Generally speaking, it does add artifacts. After all, you're doubling the linear resolution. It's not by any means perfect. But in a lot of cases, the overall image enlargement works better than anything else in Photoshop.
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel I am comparing with Topaz Gigapixel AI, though I have not compared the two in a precise way. My initial reaction is, that Photoshop is less pleasant to look at with a 2:1 enlargement, but I could be wrong.
@@Eigil_Skovgaard I haven't compared it either so I have no opinion on which is better.
I wonder how it compares to On 1’s Resize app. Adobe’s UI sure looks better, at least.
By the way the subscribe animation and bell sound are really annoying IMO. On other channels I always give a thumb down whenever the host doesn’t mute the bell sound. Just a feedback.
I haven't compared it. I don't know!
Good instructional video but I find that some of the stand alone software out there does a better job.
🤷 Yeah, other tools out there might be better. And as you said, this is just an instructional video on how a new tool works. Thanks for watching!
is this the same as "enhance details 2.0" in photoshop?
Well, they're both used for upscaling. But the way of doing it is different. Since this uses machine learning technology it should give you better results.
Question from an ignoramus: How do you access camera raw plugin from photoshop, I can only seem to go into it from camera raw filter?
Hi, Phil! From photoshop, go to Open As (NOT Open). From the File Type dropdown select Camera raw. Then find your file on your computer.
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel Thank you, that seemed to work. Cheers
when i open the images on photoshop, the quality always shows up as 240 ppi
how could I get it up to 300 ppi ?
i’m a beginner and would appreciate your help :)
thanks
Well, that's the ppi that your image was shot in. You can change it to 300 from the Image Size command in Photoshop.
I just see the image is larger, but no sharper.
how to use jpeg files in super resolution ?
I tried this a couple of times but the output was bad, looked like boxes of noise scattered over the pic
It's not a perfect solution, and it gives you better results in raw images. Also, generally speaking, this will give you better results than other enlargement tools in Photoshop.

Um, this does NOT work on JPEG files. Just tried it, it says JPEG is an unsupported format.....am I missing something?
Hi Kevin, it works on Jpgs. Did you use the Camera Raw plugin, and are you in the latest version of Camera Raw?
@@Alphadragon1979 I am having the same issue. Tried several images with the same result.

I just save it after enhancing it, as a PNG then open it back up in camera raw and enhance again.
Nice!
I am still wondering why Emojis can't be removed from a photo, is it possible
I guess one could export the image in a new file (ex: tiff)and reapply superresolution? But I get that this begins to get pointless
Yeah, you could do that. But I'm not sure if the results would make it worth it.
I'm wondering if it is the graphics card, or simply that the tool didn't do a good job in your photos.
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel Could be but I've tried quite a few images of different sizes and I get artefacts every time.
6 seconds? It takes 5 minutes on my computer ☹️
Yeah, it's all based on your GPU. ☹️
I can't get this to work on JPG images. So disappointed.
open via Bridge > Camera Raw - it worked O.K. for me on some very old jpgs
Hi, Lisa! Did you try Sue's suggestion? It should work.
Also, from Photoshop, go to Open As (NOT Open). From the File Type dropdown select Camera raw. Then find your file on your computer.
@@SueLambertPhotography Thanks Sue. Sad to say this didn't work for me.
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel Thanks for checking in. When I try Open As, I go to Open and then select the file and choose the format, right? I don't have a Camera Raw option in the format dropdown. I have a Photoshop Raw option. When I proceed with the Photoshop Raw option it creates a weird grayscale photo with a double image. Clearly I'm doing something wrong. Is there someplace I can send you screenshots? Thanks a million!
@@lisaroth719 Do you have camera raw installed? From your creative cloud app make sure it is installed. But from the Open As dialog, under file format there should be a camera raw option
What's going on?
wow
👍🙂
Both this guy and piximperfect always leave things out of their tutorials. So, where are we supposed to find this camera raw plug in? I have PScc, is it available? I have regular camera raw, what's the plug in?
You open it via Bridge.
Topaz Gigapixel still has much much better enhancement results for face portrait photos.
I'll take your word for it. I haven't done a comparison. If you have, you should make a video on it! I would love to see the results.
Amazing New Feature with disappointing results. Lots of chromatic abberation. I got similar results with image size + a few sharpen filters. Machine needs to learn a lot.
Yeah, I also made the mistake of not enabling Chromatic aberration on Camera Raw which would have helped a bit.
Thanks Jesus
You're welcome, mostafa!
Nobody seems to care to mention that you need to have a special Graphics card to be able to use the feature, as if we don't have to buy enough material as it is. Long live the age of obsolescence!
I have a Geforce 1080 from 5 (five) years ago and the feature works perfectly.
@@DavidRFIT I have a AMD Radeon R9 M390 2 GB, it's 4 years old and it doesn't seem to be up to the task. I get a message that says I need a graphics card that has metal support.
