Jinjer just dropped a new video today called Judgement (& Punishment). Has a really great groove to it!
The heavy parts of the song are some of Jinjer's best headbanging music ever. The video is kinda cute and funny. I laughed the first time I watched it. Then watched it again and still laughed. Tati is so cute playing a wicked witch haha.

This caught me by surprise. I love this song and this band! Definitely one of the most overlooked and underrated bands in the genre. Most people have never heard of them.
Their last album was really heavy compared to their previous albums and it looks like this one will pick up where that one left off.
I have seen them live a few times and they are great! They even did a few covers that are really good. Enjoy the Silence and Losing My Religion. Not sure if you are still doing that series.
Yes, we're still doing undercovers! And I had seen on Spotify (but not heard) their cover of Enjoy the silence so figured this could be a good intro.

Been following Lacuna Coil for years now, finally got to see them live a week ago. Holy shitballs, they're soooooo good!

Live, they are even better. Stunning band in the flesh, just amazing!
You should really delve into their discography at some point, they're a really good band. Their style varied a lot, the early albums were a more european style gothic metal thing, the best example of it is the album "Unleashed memories", very melancholic. Then they started hardening their sound and writing some real hits, "Comalies" is probably their more passionate album, heavy and melodic at the same time. Then with the following album, "Karmacode", they veered towards a much more Korn-like, down-tuned guitars style, certainly impactful. And then they went here and there between melody and heaviness for another three albums, and now with the second to last "Delirium" and with "Black Anima" which is about to come out they incorporated growls (before then his vocals were clean too) and she adopted a higher-pitched kind of singing whereas before she's always had a lower and sexier tone. From Comalies you could react to "Tight Rope", very heavy and intense, from Broken Crown Halo "Nothing stands in our way" is a very cool band anthem. From Karmacode you could try "Our Truth", and on and on and on. "Spellbound", "Trip the darkness", "Blood tears dust" etc. Always do the studio and/or official video versions, so that you're sure they're good.
Great discovery, I will definitely keep exploring their music. Rare to see a band that gets heavier over time.

@@ChemicalReactions I just a few hours ago watched an interview with Christina talking about how they realized that no matter how big they get they will never be a mainstream type of band. So they want to make music that they can play live and the heavier songs are better suited for it. They also like to have a good mix so there will also be more melodic songs as well! I love this band and they are amazing people in real life as well you always hear people talk about how pleasant and professional they are.

The band "In this moment" (with a female singer) is a very good too with song very catchy and their shows are impressive. I advice you the song "Beautiful Tragedy" (The HD Clip) or "Whore" (a more recent song).

Watching earlier songs of Lacuna Coil to now just gets better. They get heavier with every album. I loved watching their music change. Definitely one of my favorites, but Nightwish is my all time favorite.

I had the great pleasure of talking with all the members of this italian band at the end of their first concert in luxembourg after they released their first album and they are very nice people. IMO they never made another album that good, but i still remember their sympathy, especially the heavenly kiss Christina gave me in the end. 😊 That was 20 years ago. Wow, time really flies...

I spent 10 years of my life in that country and surprisingly i had the chance to go to many concerts half a mile away from my house, in a small but cosy ancient slaughterhouse where many good bands played, like Dream Theater. Many of those then smaller bands shared moments with a few fans, so... Even the guys from uriah heep and canned heat talked to me eheh. Diamond head too. Wow moments indeed.

Saw them perform live at a festival back in 2004 or 2005. Amazing performance and have been a fan ever since. They have the wall of sound live as well. Cristina has a beautiful voice. You should check out Our Truth and their cover of Enjoy the Silence from the Karamcode album.
Enjoyed this reaction. Lacuna is one my 4 bands sharing my first place and this... I think Black Anima is gonna be their best album up to date. I'm super hyped about it.
Sirenia - Seven Widows Weep is my recommendation (they are female-fronted too). The variety and the amount of different musical elements in it is just... stunning.

Loved this song. It had been like 10 years since I listened to Lacuna Coil before hearing this and was reminded why I liked them. "Heaven's a Lie" is probably my favorite song by them. If you like strong female vocals in metal, check out "In this moment - Whore." Don't judge it until you watch it and know what the message is. ;)

Glad to see another reaction for Lacuna Coil. Getting kinda tired of seeing nothing but Jinjer and Nightwish. Lacuna Coil has been one of my favorite bands since 2000. A lot of people still don't know who they are.
I love Jinjer, but gotta agree - Lacuna Coil have been consistently brilliant for twenty years, they should be headlining stadiums.

Good hard rythm and beat not a bad song, would like to hear more of this mixture of sounds.

If you're gonna do Lacuna Coil you have to do Heaven's A Lie and then probably I Forgive (But I Won't Forget Your Name), both songs are fantastic and have really well done music videos. Also worth checking out Megadeth's A Tout le Monde, Christina Scabia is the guest vocalist for that song and again the video is great.
Was surprised about the comment about the male and female vocals, but I don't think you covered any Epica (without Floor) and then it makes sense.
Haven't listened to this band before, but for me it sadly just sounds like all other bands doing djent.

Lacuna Coil are really deep,Cristina Scabbia is devine,they have realy heavy songs,super soft songs and everything in between 🤘 They also put there spin on several covers that barely sound like the original 🤘

You should listen to the new Jinjer song called "Judgement and Punishment". You recently did a "Pisces" reaction. Love that song and is a good introduction song for 1st time Jinjer reactions. But this new song is better and the video is an actual music video. I personally believe this new song will draw more fans for Jinjer than the Pisces song.

they've definitely upped their game...I'm don't believe Andreas started growls until their previous album...the music I'd heard from Lacuna Coil was more hard rock/metal...Andreas and Christina share vocals for the majority of their songs, so female fronted?.....cool song though...l like the new direction they've taken..look forward to the new album

I grew up on Death Metal: Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Napalm Death, Carcass, etc. Every genre evolves but I would classify this song as melodic death metal; pretty close to Arch Enemy to my ears.
While we all know the truth, technically Lacuna Coil is NOT a female-fronted band. It is actually Andrea Ferro's band and, initially, Cristina Scabbia was actually considered the "backup" vocalist. Honestly, I'm not sure why they even let him sing. BTW, they are AWESOME live! Her voice is even better. Cheers.

No, I don't like growling. The female voice is fantastic, just use hers. Just sing and make different atmospheres with music. Deep Purple, led Zeppelin, Nightwish, Iron Maiden do so.
All good stuff. Didn't grow up with growling but learned to appreciate it when used right. This to me was perfect.
