  • We discovered this museum by stopping in Tyack in the south of Mauritius. The fascinating aspect was the fact that we discovered Mr Bisoondoyal on the Rs500 . He was born in this house in 1908 and the house takes you back to how live must have been in Mauritius in the early 1900's. His grandparents came to Mauritius as indentured laborers to work on the cane fields from India. And as a third generation Mauritian he rose to sit in parliament.
An interesting fact was that he staged some revolts against Apartheid in South Africa by taking bullock carts to the streets of Port Louis. For this he landed up in jail several times.
