Great idea!! The transformer is only 9V? So your saying 12V os no problem? It must have a voltage regulator inside. Here’s hoping it doesn’t overheat and let the smoke out….
I made one of these about 6 months ago. It worked great up until the day that the motion sensor disappeared...so I'll do it again, and this time instead of using a magnet, I'll use some zip ties. Either that, or epoxy the motion sensor to a piece of steel, and bolt that to an available hole on my truck frame. I like your idea of mounting one in the bed. I'll have to do that as well, given that I just mounted a toolbox back there.
I've been using mine for about a year now so far it handle the weather the only trouble is there heat sensitive If it's a hot day they'll go off. The motion detectors work best at night.
I like how you break everything down including which wire goes where. Is there any chance they come with proximity settings?
Its all or nothing. Its only 50 bux lol. So thats why you narrow the beam with the tape.

I think you could fit a 3rd or 4th magnet , or use one of those rare earth magnets from a hard drive , thag sh*t would never come off. Lol

Would those alarms or motion detectors stand up to heat or worse yet the rainy days or the elements especially the winter months?
No issues here

That motion sensor is so sensitive, on a cold day, it could detect the slightest swing of a shenis.
