The Museum Of Bad Art (MOBA) is a privately owned museum whose stated aim is "to celebrate the labor of artists whose work would be displayed and appreciated in no other forum". It was originally in Dedham with current branches in Somerville, Brookline, and South Weymouth in Massachusetts.Its permanent collection includes over 700 pieces of "art too bad to be ignored", 25 to 35 of which are on public display at any one time. MOBA was founded in 1994, after antique dealer Scott Wilson showed a painting he had recovered from the trash to some friends, who suggested starting a collection. Within a year, receptions held in Wilson's friends' home were so well-attended that the collection needed its own viewing space. The museum then moved to the basement of a theater in Dedham. Explaining the reasoning behind the museum's establishment, co-founder Jerry Reilly said in 1995: "While every city in the world has at least one museum dedicated to the best of art, MOBA is the only museum dedicated to collecting and exhibiting the worst." To be included in MOBA's collection, works must be original and have serious intent, but they must also have significant flaws without being boring; curators are not interested in displaying deliberate kitsch.
This place is more interesting than other modern art studios/gallery.
I suspect this was the inspiration for Pickman's Gallery on fallout 4.

Before they opened the museum at the Somerville Theater my husband and I went to the one at the Dedham Theater, not sure if that is still there. They warned you on the website that before you visit that the gallery is downstairs next to the men's room and you will hear peeing and catch the odor of urine, they didn't lie!😝But the exhibit was so funny, the descriptions are even funnier than the art. I'm an artist and I think it helps us who attempt but don't always succeed to make good art be able to laugh at our "happy little accidents". 🤣🤣🤣

Art is not defined as am image. It's defined as the passing of an experience from one to another. The rest is up to interpretation.
I've seen on Christie's auction site paintings with an estimate of £1m to £3m and they are literally the sort of thing your 3 year old brings back from kindergarten whom you patronise by saying how good it is, stick it on the fridge door for a week or so before chucking it away!

"He was a friend od mine" painting is not that bad.
What bothers me the most is that these paintings are actually good, but a banana taped to a wall, or a giant white canvas with nothing on it sells for millions.
The banana taped to the wall is a money laundering scheme for wealthy people. It has nothing t do with art.
