To people who feel this video was mean, I didn't intend for it to come across that way and in hindsight I realize it might be a mixed message to always advocate art as an inclusive medium, but for a video like this to come out seemingly making fun of people's efforts. I don't think it's so cut and dry as being 'mean', I'm just as willing to poke fun at myself, but I do get where people feel this way. I guess I have the tendency to get a little goofy and not think too deeply about the implication of the content (anyone who watched my Drawception content know EXACTLY what I'm talking about) - I guess at the end of the day this channel is about "having fun with art" and sometimes that's making fun of ourselves or collectively cringing, but I would never intentionally discourage or break someone down. In short, I'm a bit sorry I didn't contextualize this video a bit more and frame it more constructively - but I do think some of the art is legitimately hilarious and worth looking at and reading some of the fascinating stories about their origins and how they were found or preserved (check out the website, really uncanny and funny stuff there!). I didn't mean anything bad spirited, I just enjoy being a bit too cheeky sometimes and hoped you might get a kick out of a wander into the uncanny valley with me!

I agree, I saw 2 or 3 that were really well executed or of very high skill level. That one clown for example. It was rather disturbing and creepy though.
And considering how many people these days are afraid of clowns or just feel uncomfortable around them (like, as if you are in a room with 3 or 4 of your friends and you just know that one of them is a psychotic mass murderer cannibal, that cuts off parts of his victims with a rusty skalpell and eats them before killing them - but you don't know which one of your friends it is) I'd say that this very, realistic painting of a clown was surely hated.

Same. Also in their defence they were brave enough to put their art out there. I bet if they carried on with their art they are better than they were. And finally they probably had fun creating their piece. If the process of creating it was rewarding to them what does it matter how bad they turned out? A bit like being bad at sports - It doesn’t really matter if the goal is enjoyment.

Honestly, I don't want to see you burn out and do want to see you sharing your content in a way that is who you are, even if that changes a bit along the way. I'm in my 70s, and who I am has definitely changed over time. That's a good thing. I say, relax a bit, remember that you are a family man, do what you love, what brings you joy. What was being referenced was called, The Museum of Bad Art. It's their selling point. What people feel towards the art, is their own experience to walk away with. But they're advertising, what they want to be known for. Like the Museum of Modern Art. It's niche specific.

All my art teachers that I ever had disagree with you. But I live in Germany, where nobody tells you how amazing you did, for producing shit. When my art was bad, they told me that it was bad. One of them taught me, that the people who look at art and buy art are not artists but 'normal' people. They don't know how hard you worked on an artwork, how hard you tried and how much you struggled. And neither do they care. They see what they buy, the finished product.
Be honest, when you eat out at a fancy restaurant, and your steak tastes like salt with vinegar and a coat of pepper, would you say it tastes amazing because the chef worked hard on it (or so you guess, because you had to wait for 1 hour for your food)? I personally wouldn't, when something tastes bad than it is bad. If an artwork looks bad, then it is bad. When a song sounds bad than it is bad. Of course there are different tastes for all of it, but there's always a point where 'bad' reaches the point beyond taste and is just bad.

That's the thing about art it's all subjective. the problem with a lot of these was they were clearly going for realism but got certain proportions or details off just enough to hit that uncanny valley. When something is too close to realistic without hitting the mark it can be very unsettling and tends to actually make it look worse than if they missed the mark all together. Another thing about many of these pieces is they tend have odd composition choices and overall lack polish. Many of them show a clear level of talent but just need some more work. Also, several of them aren't really bad at all, just odd and not to the taste of the general public.

@@knewredthered960 The whole video rubbed me the wrong way. I looked at the museum site and most of the art was found in thrift stores. So it's probably someone's kid drawing or their first drawing and we are implying that they are so bad we puke now? That's kind of.. shitty.

Banira totally agree, maybe the reactions have to be over the top for his video, I suppose? but seriously a lot weren't bad at all in my opinion

@@emonekokamiful Yeah. Art would be pretty boring if everything was a cardboard cutout of what majority define as beautiful. I found a lot of the pieces interesting, they have their own style.

What you call "bad art" i find way more atractive and way more interesting then what all those cookie cutter drawing youtube stars produce.

awesome review . thank you . In my experience, There's also the 16" drawing display XP-Pen Artist 15.6 Pro. It's got a scroll wheel which seems to give more granular tactile feedback than Huion's "touch strip."
