  • Hello internet wanderer! Here are 26 patches (presets, sounds) for the Microkorg. I have made them myself. No external effects were used in the video. They are totally free, but i don't have a MIDI interface, so you'll have to make them manually, using my instructions. The instructions are in the video. Or you can just download them in jpg format, if you like - here is the link: drive.google.c...
They sound better if you connect your Microkorg via stereo
WARNING!: There are mistakes in the video (i am really sorry for that):
for Spell of Sirens - distortion must be turned off in amp settings
    for spell of crystals - for timbre 1: LFO1 - tri / Off / Off / 15
    PATCHES:
    00:07 salem saw
    00:42 taliesin
    01:07 spell of sirens
    03:03 fairy ring
    03:49 i tend the light
    04:35 lost tape
    05:45 dream circus
    06:01 spell of crystals
    07:29 black earth
    07:57 fading memories
    08:19 steppe grass
    09:25 snowy path
    10:06 spell of hornets
    11:05 mistfolk
    11:38 flock of echoes
    12:28 fog dweller
    12:59 Oona
    13:26 spell of voices
    13:56 night's veil
    14:42 blade walker
    15:14 spell of wasps
15:59 bad luck to kill a seabird
    16:45 will'o-the-wisp
    17:30 nettle song
    18:09 oftentimes
    18:38 old school scary
    P.S.
In case you don't know how to save patches on Microkorg, here is a good tutorial: • How to save patches on...
In case you don't know how to program multitimbral patches on Microkorg - just push the "timbre select" button, choose "timbre 1", put in all the info for the "timbre 1" from my patch instructions, then choose "timbre 2", put in all the info for the "timbre 2", then save the patch. Btw you can listen to each timber of one patch separately by pressing "shift" + "timbre select" button.
Please excuse my shitty playing, i have made these melodies on the go, but i hope they are enough to illustrate the sounds.
If you liked the patches, or want to listen to them in the mix, here is a link to my album (it is free as well)
I have used them on most tracks.

Thank you for making these, they sound great. I also like your aesthetics. I find that it’s easy to get lost in the technical side of synthesis so it helps to be reminded that there are other way of seeing things.

These patches are beautiful and when I'm building them from your instructions, I catch myself reading the parameters out loud, almost like I'm casting a spell, summoning these sounds into existence. I'm new to building out synth patches from scratch like this so it all feels like magic to me. Thank you.

@@foolycooly6738 Yes, and there are not so many eerie patches around for some reason. Well, a great addition to my collection.
I faced some problems while programming Spell of Crystals but I managed to solve them. As I remember there is a mistake in a table: LFO1 Tempo Sync must be set to Off and LFO2 Frequency must be 15 instead of 70. However, I couldn't cope with Spell of Sirens. Could you check your values on this patch again, please? Maybe something with Amp EG because the attack on my patch is not as smooth as in your vid.

How to translate the instructions to program the VST version of microKORG?

    • @foolycooly6738
      @foolycooly6738  7 месяцев назад +2

That's a tough question, cause i don't have a VST version. The best way i can think of (it won't be easy anyway unfortunately) is to compare your VST's controls with this picture of Microkorg's matrix (drive.google.com/file/d/18B1GZnnvYyID9Um16XjQtpaySen4siJW/view?usp=sharing ) So the titles in the red frame are equal to the first column of my table. That way you can connect the controls from the picture with values from my instruction, then find that controls in your vst. Feel free to ask additional questions if something is still unclear.

Oh and one more question. Your artwork and technical knowledge both on sound design, music theory and graphics design and just overall aesthetics is really impressive. How did you learn all this?? Do people get born with abilities like this or is it possible to acquire them :o @@foolycooly6738

    • @foolycooly6738
      @foolycooly6738  7 месяцев назад +3

Thank you for you kind words! But i don't think that my skill are somehow special - i know all that stuff at very basic level actually. I don't know anything about music theory at all - for the most part of my life i thought, that black keys are called minor and white keys are called major hahah! As for the graphic design - i liked to draw and to mess with pictures in photoshop since my childhood. It's nothing special - just basic operations with layers, some medieval engravings pngs i found at the internet and some coloring. As for the sound design - all my knowledge came from reading Microkorg's manual. As for my music - i just do it everyday for like ten years and just talk to people if i don't know how to do something (still too lazy to learn music theory hah). If you want my advice on how to learn stuff like that: just do what you like, do it for fun, not for the profit, do it for the process, not for the result, and don't except anything from it. Also some basic tutorials on how to use FL studio and Photoshop will get you there for sure!
