*Both are from far futuristic spacefaring humanities that have just entered the galactic scene and are underdog newcomers in their respective verses.
*In services with a unified humanity's military, exploratory, and scientific organization and interstellar superpower (United Nations Space Command and Systems Alliance).
*Took part in a special military program where they underwent extensive training and procedures in order to become a bonafide elite soldier (SPARTAN Program and N7 Special Forces Program).
*They had their physical bodies altered, augmented, and enhanced at a young age (Master Chief receiving biochemical and biomechanical augmentations back when he was just a SPARTAN-II cadet while Shepard received cybernetic implants to wield his biotic abilities).
*Equipped and skilled with various firearms, melee weapons, explosives, and high-tech gadgetry.
*They wear sophisticated armored suits of modular design (Mjolnir Armor and N7 Armor).
*Both have an extensive military history of fighting a variety of hostile alien forces and renegade/rogue human factions on various colonial worlds and throughout the stars.
*They would later encounter and fight an ancient and antagonistic pseudo-Lovecraftian alien race capable of forcibly converting organic lifeforms into their masses and have proven to be incredibly dangerous threats to the galaxy, past and present (the Flood and the Reapers).
*Said pseudo-Lovecraftian powers were also responsible for destroying a powerful alien civilization long ago whose technology and achievements helped uplift the current day's civilizations, humanity included (the Forerunners and the Protheans).
*While they were already a renowned hero amongst their people, their struggle against this ancient alien threat propelled them into the role of the last best hope for the galaxy.
*They would even become an ally and hero among alien races that were once hostile/wary of humanity (the Sangheili for Master Chief and the Turians, the Krogans, the Geth, and etc. for Shepard).
*However, throughout their many adventures and battles as soldiers fighting the good fight, both have lost many close comrades and coupled with the strains of warfare and their exhausting efforts in keeping the galaxy safe, these experiences have taken a toll on their minds and weighed them down.

Wow this trailer was fantastic! I loved its atmosphere. Easily my favorite matchup for both, I hope it gets even more love.
Hope it happens instead of Doomslayer or Samus
This is possibly in my Top 15 Most Wanted. I love this way more than Samus or Doomslayer VS Chief.

I feel like "The Shepard" could have been "The Spectre" instead, but I still think this was a pretty good edit.
The Loco Commander, Skipper, the reaper killer, the leader of all suicide missions.
The trailer was spectacular, nice. Best for Chief easily ngl.

Master Chief ftw, people sleep on his feats in the lore. Like his Energy Shields being able to tank multiple 50mm rounds before being depleted. And the Armor itself being able to tank just under a dozen rounds of 50 Caliber Depleted Uranium rounds, which in itself is insane!
