Definitely of the most practical martial arts I've seen even thru RUclips. Takedown, punch, and walk away when you still can. Attackers don't play fair.
Movement is truely universal and transcending arts... I saw: Morote Seoi Nage, Ippon Seoi Nage, Osotogari, Ouchi Gari, Kouchi Gari and some other I couldnt name. Where are the Kata Gurumas and Morote Gari? Aren't they part of some Karate syllabus too?
I'm a Uechi-Ryu practitioner and I love the videos and other content that you have provided. I've had the privaledge of training with some great instructors over the years and take that as a great honor but I love learning other perspectives on techniques of all styles because it allows us all the chance to adapt the techniques that we practice to fit our own personal expression of those techniques (the actual application of techniques under pressure or in real life). It also gives us a greater range of techniques that we can apply when they feel right. I'm looking to get the karate throws and takedowns 1 on dvd and I'm curious if volumes 2 and 3 will also be available on dvd.
Everyone used to talk smack about karate until good karatekas starting taking people down in UFC. Now they realize it’s good for sport, and you can take it a step further to make it lethal force, if your life is on the line.
I'm a 2nd degree blackebelt in karate and I've also had quite a few bar fights under my belt during my time as a paratrooper. Honestly u don't get to pick and choose ur opponents height and weight. These throws rely heavily on an opponent whose somewhat stationary. More times than not they will be in an andrenaline rush and it'll be very hard to pull these off. Also, they won't always be wearing sleeves. If ur hands r small, u might not be able to grab wrist control so easily. Further more, u would.need to practice ur timing and technique to near perfection to able to pull these off. I can see this being more practical of you incorporate into a kata you practice. It's much more effective if u just slant their jaw sideways with a vicious hook rather than try and do.a throw.
I’d totally agree that striking should be the primary method in self-protection and it’s the simplest way to put someone on the floor. However, when grappling ensues then supporting skills become vital. Throws work … if you are competent at them and know which one is appropriate in any given instance. Martial artists who train throws effectively can use them effectively. We see them done live all the time. Done it myself countless times; as have my training partners and students. Just like punches, if you’re not good at them it does not mean the method itself is at fault. As Senaca said, one of the most common mistakes of mankind is assuming something is impossible because they themselves can’t do it. Additionally, you need to practice live against competent throwers in order to best learn how to keep your feet. Personally, I want to me a martial artist not a “partial artist”, so I’d not discount a whole range of methods. Furthermore, the karate of old (the karate of the kata and older texts) contains a large range of throws, and therefore I want to study the art in full, as opposed to only learning a single aspect of it.

That's the reason why I wish I could have stayed in my karate class I would have been doing this more properly are traditionally it could have saved my life depending on the situation and depending on the bad circumstances it could have made me stronger more faster more durable is arming my opponent or my enemy or anybody is trying to hurt or shoot me I just wish my body was more faster in karate more durable unless vulnerable you could have gave me the strength to beat the living hell out of these people any place or any area or any building I wish I can take it back would be worth it I really wish I could head start taking karate more take them down and knock them down where it hurts 💪😤👍🥋

You forgot the most important part after you throw them and then punch them: stomp the groin + restomp the groin. :D :D :D
Karate works in the street in tournaments. A quick reverse punch to the solarplex then a takedown always works.
Karateka for life
I do karate but i wanted to learn proper takedowns but watching this video made me able to

Thanks for the kind words! I think volumes 2 and 3 will be download only due to DVD becoming an less popular format.

Who's the clown that disliked this?
Sabrina Monstar tbh i have no earthly idea...
Probably someone who still believes that mma is the only true origin or the only true effective use of striking and grappling together.
