'm sorry Bro but there was ZERO hateful language in that robocall. There is a case in court right now of a school covering up a rape where a boy wore a skirt and walked into the women's restroom and raped a 14 year old girl. The school covered it up and the boy was transferred to another school where he again went into the girls bathroom and raped a 13 year old . The school was afraid of trans-activist and at least one girls rape was completly preventable if not for this woke ass culture shift you people are pushing. The boy wasn't even presenting as a woman or anything he JUST PUT ON A SKIRT WALKED IN AND RAPED TWO GIRLS. NOW you've claimed there was hateful language in that call. You are going out of your way to bow down to these people by claiming that her very reasonable opinion was hateful speech aka hate speech. Cmon dude. Nearly all families with more than 1 kid will get at least somehelp from the older children but it's often not something they're forced to do. Our oldest daughter definitely helped us with her younger sister, who was 8 years younger, in big part bc she wanted to and enjoyed how close their bond grew the more she did with/for her sister. The youngest is now 10 and they are so much closer than I ever was to my siblings but we didn't force or demand any of it and our oldest has confidence about raising her own children in the future that she couldn't have gotten any other way. And, no, we are not church going people.

You are right about the sisters raising their younger siblings, but incorrect about the boys being encouraged to leave home. None of the Duggar boys were allowed to have regular jobs, join the military, or move out on their own until marriage. All but one or two are still reliant on JB for their livelihoods. Joseph was allowed to attend Crown College, a fundy college for one or two years, but no one else was allowed any real secondary education. JB stated on their series that he bought his 40 acres so that his kids could all build houses on his property and virtually never leave home. It didn't work out that way, but there are still some boys in the pipeline, so we'll see about them. What JB did not count on was one of the flaws in his plan. That by doctrine his daughters were "given" to their husbands who became the daughter's authority instead of JB, which means that the daughter now has to obey her husband. That's the only reason why Jill, Jinger, Joy and to some degree Jessa get to live a life free of JB's domination.

I'm a married woman who will sometimes cry in the middle of sex because of trauma. My husband is the kindest most gentle man in those moments. He holds me and he comforts me. Not once has he made me feel bad for stopping in the middle of things. Without his wonderful support I don't think I could have sex at this point because of the repressed trauma that didn't fully develop until I became an adult. The family's culture teaches boys and men to fetishize purity, to expect access to sex, to assume they can't control their sexual urges, to have authority over women and children and that their sexual urges and mistakes are the fault of others. Is it really any wonder that men in these groups tend to be sexually abusive pedos? Their culture teaches them to be.

It’s worth mentioning that even if you “don’t remember” being assaulted as a child, there’s overwhelming evidence pointing to the fact that your body DOES remember. I was molested in my sleep by a family member and didn’t find out until years later, but I still have always showed signs of being assaulted since that day. And finding out is a trauma in and of itself, realizing that someone you thought loved and cared about you has violated your trust and your body without your knowledge is painful enough even if you don’t believe that unaware victims can still show symptoms of trauma. Those girls were hurt. They were traumatized. Their parents can deny it all they want, but everyone else knows full well that they raised a monster.

Having that many children should be considered child abuse or at the very least child neglect. There’s no way you can offer emotional support and nurture to that many children at the same time living all under one roof. If you’re having a lot of children but it’s spaced out so you only have a few kids in the house to raise at a time, I don’t see anything wrong with that. But having something like 12-18 kids back to back and having them all under the same roof should be considered child neglect or child abuse. There is no way in hell only two people can bear the responsibility of offering individual support to each and every one of their children all at the same time. There’s no way. That’s simply incomprehensible.
Edit: I’ve read 205 comments so far and everyone’s been so nice! Thanks guys! Glad to see we all have common sense because I was doubting myself writing this comment lol

I don't think that's controversial at all! People who have that many children almost always do it because they expect the older ones to raise the youngest, and having to be responsible and parent their siblings so young gives the older siblings no childhood. And for the younger siblings, it would be basically impossible for their parents to give them any actual attention and care when they have that many children to look after. And I haven't even touched on the economic struggle involved...

I agree. I find it selfish to have this many kids without any thought as to who's going to care for them. Parentification is so harmful as it takes life experiences and time away from older children because they always need to tend to their younger ones.
I was parentified since I was 7 to my then four younger siblings and finally told everyone I won't continue it anymore when I was 17. I lost the chance to make friends and experience my life for myself; it made me antisocial and I am 20 and still struggling to make any friends in person. I still live at home (hopefully for not much longer) and don't go out because being at home makes me feel obligated to take on the parental role again and that I shouldn't be gone for more than work and errands....
Being parentified with 18 other siblings younger than you must be horrid.

I agree with this so much. While I think it's beautiful for older siblings to want to help their mom, that's all it is, help. They can babysit for a few hours every once it a while, help their mom prepare food, pass the diapers and wipes to mom, etc. What it shouldn't be is a personal daily responsibility. I liked helping my mom change diapers, babysitting, feeding, etc.
The one thing that scarred me was when my mom told me to prepare my sister's bottle. I refused because we were at a family party, and I was in the middle of playing with all of my cousins, and my parents were chatting with the adults. My mom sent me to bed early for that and I missed out playing with my cousins, the party, and the cake. I was 8 years old at that time, so a cake was a big deal. When I look at the family photos of this event, it makes me sad that I am not in them.
I know my one experience doesn't compare to other older siblings who literally had to raise their younger siblings. I was probably a brat and my parents did the best they could with the knowledge they had and experiences they lived while growing up themselves.
But this one experience affected me so much that now I am committed to not letting any of my kids miss out on any part of their childhood, while also teaching them to be caring and empathetic toward each other, and also willing to do things for each other.

@@michellec9334 I can't speak for other situations, but in my family, my parents defend the sibling that did this same thing to me, and my father essentially ended up spelling out the why. I want to clarify first that there is a severe cognitive dissonance between "family crimes" and what literally anyone else outside the family has done. My father can listen to stories like this (the Duggars) and not see himself in it/be disgusted, he can watch SVU and agree with the fictional characters who haven't forgive their childhood abusers even when they're adults and agree with them, but when it comes to me or his sister? It's different. We're the problem.
The culture in my family seems to derive from my grandmother. She knew that her son, my uncle, did the same thing to my aunt, and she protected him, as did my dad and his brother. My aunt, instead, was left ignored. My grandma even bought this uncle a house, which she did not do for any of the other kids (and also, very clearly, not my aunt, a fucking victim. Favouritism much?). This idea of what could be "forgiven" in a family was kind of just instilled through one parents' lack of action. My aunt has been painted to me my whole life as an irrational, crazy woman, bc she has such a tumultuous relationship with my uncles/dad and my grandma. But when my dad decided to justify my brother's crimes in one of his many "get over it already" speeches, listing all the other crimes in our family (which, apparently, is many. yay.), he told me this about my uncle and aunt. And like, it changed everything.
My grandma ignored/dismissed my aunt's pain and then as she grew older, my aunt was demonized for having issues with grandmother, which the beloved boys of the family did not. (Well, they do have other genuine issues, but that's a whole other topic.) My grandmother built this atmosphere that things can be forgiven or downplayed if it's done by family, and that has transferred to my father and thus my own experience. I will say that in many ways, my parents continued defence of my sibling and annoyance (at best) with me wanting him out of my life, has been more traumatizing than what he did.
My sibling also victimized my cousin, who is my said aunt's daughter. They *hate* that my parents did nothing for me, never stopped my sibling. Because he wasn't just sexually abusive, but very physically too. And it's pretty sad to me that my aunt, who was implied to be irrational or whatever, who is mostly out of my life and the rest of that side of the family's lives, is the only adult in my family who said "That's fucked up."
So, was the abuse dismissed bc they were defending an adult predator first? I don't know. But the defence of these acts are very easily justified and instilled within families, even non-religious ones. My sibling and my uncle were also very young when they did those crimes. But it's forgiven, despite all the other fucked up shit my uncle's done since. And my sibling? The golden child? Well, he's got his own family, which of course no one but me seems to be concerned about, and they're all very sure that he's fixed, despite him being across the country and no one actually being able to know for sure. Many days I am worried I'll get news like what the media ended up getting with Josh.
Also, OP: it's so fucked that that happened to you, and I feel your pain so vividly. I hope you've been able to cut that piece of shit out of your life, and anyone else that defends this and harms your safety and health.

There's a family kinda like the Duggars in my hometown and they have, at the very least, 9 kids with the mom being pregnant seemingly every time you see her. The mom frequently told people the same excuse as the Duggars; that she was "giving her womb up to god." Each kid is about if not less than a year apart except for the eldest, who is two years older than the next and a year my junior. I had several classes with him in high school and I remember asking him if he liked having so many siblings and he vehemently told me no. He talked about how he felt more like a babysitter than an older brother and he was tired of having to spend his free time watching them. He even told me he once begged his parents to stop having children and they just laughed at him.
Him and his younger brother both played basketball and the only time their parents showed up to a game was the very last one of the season and they only managed to stay for the last five minutes before their kids got too rowdy.
I remember going on a school trip to a significantly larger town with him and asking what he wanted to eat and he confessed that he hadn't been out of town, outside of school functions, in years and didn't really know what was out there in the first place.
I was a lifeguard at a local pool and the whole family came in one day and within 3 minutes, the four oldest had been tasked with watching the younger ones and the oldest hadn't even gotten the chance to touch the water before his dad yelled for all of them to gather their stuff and get in the car.
I don't care if you want to have a ton of children, but you have to understand that you CANNOT let your children depend on OTHER children to get their developmental needs met. At that point you rob each child the chance to grow up and enjoy being just that, A CHILD

My religious dad and I discussed a thing called “a lack of opportunities” that happens in families with lots of children. So basically let’s say for example one of the children wanted to go to college - that opportunity disappears because that child may have not had the time or energy (due to taking care of younger siblings) to study and gain the qualifications needed to enter college and therefore loses the opportunity to get the career they want that they otherwise would’ve had if they had fewer siblings and more attention. The older children also lose out on their childhood and the luxury of holidays since it would be too expensive with that many children. It’s so selfish for the parents to do that to their children.

He was reacting perfectly fine, wasn’t tired or clammy or confused, he called me by my name during. He knew what he was doing, and whenever I tried to turn away, he would move with me. I just tried to pretend to be asleep and hope it stopped, because that’s all I could do.
He died very recently, and every single person around me calls him a saint. He single-handedly ruined my entire relationship with my sexuality that I still feel now, and no one acknowledges it. It’s why I’m not carrying his coffin, I’m not crying for him, I’m crying because the people around me are dealing with grief, and I will continue to be okay, knowing that everyone around me is safe from him, and that I don’t have to keep listening every night to make sure he stays asleep in bed and doesn’t come in to me or more importantly my sibling. I don’t hope he’s in hell if I’m the only instance of this happening, but I hope he isn’t in heaven or a good place. He doesn’t deserve it after the anguish he made me endure.

What’s even more sickening to think about is that video was “exclusive”. For years, even on the deep and dark web, it was viewed as an urban legend of what could be out there on the internet.
Very few people actually viewed it in full. Meaning Josh more than likely purchased it or traded other videos/files for it, meaning he had exclusive access to some really extremely messed up stuff to even be able to get his hands on daisys destruction in it’s entirety. It also means he more than likely had a lot of really deep connections, which could also explain why he got so little time. He could’ve given up information on bigger players (like people who produce it).
And the investigators would know it was the actual daisys destruction in full, because in cases like this, even if it’s a well known piece of abuse material that’s been reviewed thousands of times for other cases, the investigators have to review every piece of media multiple times and manually in order to be able to testify and explain it in court to a jury.

i was assaulted by two older girls when i was about 7. i never remembered the incident until later, but i remember absolutely hating the place it happened, and i would try to get out of going there at all costs. my whole life since then has been operated by fear of which i didn't know the source. i never went anywhere alone, i always wore shorts under my skirts and dresses, and never used public bathrooms if i could help it. the rush of the memory coming back to me was one of the most overwhelming things i've ever experienced.
my brain was protecting me, it knew that on top of everything else i was going through as a child i would not have been able to handle it, so it never revealed the memory to me until later. i thank it for that.

But it pains me to know how the Duggar girls feel. I raised my little brother, who's only nineteen months my junior. We had mentally defect parents with an holier-than-thou attitudes. And Im a victim of csa.
It pains me to have a father/child dynamic with my barely little brother. It pains me to be blamed, tossed around and b€@t down by my parents because of how self righteous they are.
And it will haunt me about how my csa was handled. It blew up enormously in my face. My assailant was dragged before me crying and begging for mercy as her father yelled if I wanted him to hurt her. And my parents ignored and blamed me for what happened. Three years, and a lifetime of innocence gone. I was told I didn't fight hard enough, I should've said no louder. And worst of all, I was told it didn't matter because I'd forget.
And that was correct, my mother was right, I did forget. But I remembered. At seventeen it hit me like a truck. The night terrors, the ptsd. It all came at once. The moment I was safe, healthy and happy enough to bear that horror, my brain unflipped the forget switch.

My family refused to report it and got angry with me for breaking down and telling a school counselor because one of the offenders, my brother, was arrested and spent three years in prison. They said I should have kept it in the family even though they wouldn't make it stop. Then I was blamed for the abuse as well. 12 year old versus an 18 year old. I was 5 years old when my brother started doing that to me. I had stopped trying to tell anyone for years because I told my family so many times and each time they did nothing. After everything, I never got any mental help until I moved out at 18. The other offender was my father who is now thankfully dead and hopefully burning in hell. Two other non family members have abused me since then. This shit messes people up BIG TIME. For these people to defend this monster's actions for so long absolutely disgusts me.
