- This week, we have a candid conversation about unhealthy coping mechanisms…primarily porn and alcohol. Micah shares on his struggles with porn as well as what he took advantage of to overcome it, while Sarah shares how she used alcohol in the past as way to cover up a broken self-image and mask who she truly is. Whether you can relate to their struggles or have other coping mechanisms you want to break free of, we know you will come away encouraged!

“You’re vulnerable when you’re overly confident”
Such a good insight, a defense mechanism to protect us from that vulnerability is actually makes us vulnerable.
Definitely think I needed to hear this podcast. Thank you.
As someone who has struggled too, thank you for this. It makes me feel less alone
You guys are so great! Keep it up! 💗 this month i read a pretty intense and eye opening book about an amazing Christian who had a few near death experiences and his guide took him to witness what is happening in the spirit world around a living person who is indulging in any of the activities you were discussing today... holy wow if that's true and we could see i think we would never do any of those again. It's awful and violating and you are absolutely right it creates a block of sorts between you and God. But we all have our agency so He will never force us to obey His ways. I'm happy you guys are talking about these things and bringing to light what we can see with our mortal eyes, and that is that they are harmful. 💗
Thank you so much for being vulnerable and sharing about this. It needs to be talked about.
Thank you for sharing this, so very helpful ❤
You should use the nighttime city scape as your background!!!! It’s so beautiful!
Thanks for sharing about your experiences and these hard topics.
well done!!!
I'm always fascinated by scriptures where everyone memorizes a famous part, but they totally miss the equally-amazing less-famous part... in this case: "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." 1 Cor 10:13. People quote that, but they only ever quote that second half-and far more often I end up quoting the first half to people-"there hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man." Everything you're going through you think you're unique and alone and no one would understand, but no matter what it is most days you're never more than 15 feet from someone who's been through some form of exactly the same thing. (In my mind I often tie temptations and coping mechanisms to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs: human temptations really only come in a few flavors, and those are: food, sex, water, shelter, jealousy, financial insecurity, etc. There hath zero temptation taken any of you but such as is common to man!)
The way people treated Mike Pence and his Billy Graham Rules is the perfect example. A rockstar saying he's clean and doesn't allow cocaine at his parties is celebrated, anyone who uninstalls youtube or instagram is praised, but a married man in power saying he won't be alone with a woman after dark if there's alcohol involved? What a monster!
Thank you
❤
Sure, Sure, Sure , yeah Sure..... HAHAHAAHA
