What is Worship, overcoming the struggle to be present, and Thank You! | Ep. 40
Last Episode of the year and the season! We continue our discussion from last week moving into the habits and faith component of being new parents. We dive into how we are learning to form new disciplines and ways of worshiping God with less free time (and more exhaustion, ha!) than we had before. We also talk transparently about how difficult it can be to remain present in the now and how we are working to rewire our brains to be better at it. Plus a chat about our favorite Christmas movies and why some classics that most people love don't make our lists.

    I tell people I’m a very outgoing introvert. It’s not your personality, but how you “recharge.” People charge my husband. I get “peopled out” and need alone time to recharge.

    I love learning why you believe and enjoy explaining what I believe. People just aren’t having these kinds of conversations. “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬ ‭

    18:07 kinda feels like "we listen and we don't judge". I've always tried to harbor conversations with people that disagree with my viewpoint in a peaceful manner. I'm just super curious as to how they became to believe another way. What did they see? What experience did they have to shape that belief? Maybe if i can understand that experience, i could empathize with them more. Not everyone is kind to even having a discussion with someone that has a different belief anymore and that's pretty sad.

    This might not be common tradition & I’m only 28 mins in, but my family would always make these huge leave piles. And we would jump in the leaves all day while our parents cooked. And they also got ads from everywhere all the stores and made us take a pen and circle things we wanted for Christmas in the Black Friday ads!

    Also as a boy mom of 3 if no one mentioned it to me with my 1st son but when changing a boy you have to point their penis downward and put the diaper on right over it to secure quickly. Sideways or up will definitely cause a leak 😉

  • @taylorfixler2025
    @taylorfixler2025 Месяц назад

    Size up the diapers if you’re having constant leaks and blowouts. He probably needs a 2 if not a 3 folded down a bit near the belly button. Sposie diaper pads are also amazing if you’re trying to prevent leaks overnight or for travel.

    The six weeks were the very very hardest time of parenting for me. I have a 4 and 2 year old now. For the comments saying "he'll be sleeping through soon". Well... Depends. Hahaha. My 4 year old sleeps through 50% of the time and my 2 year old sleeps through 95% of the time. Every kid is different! But is definitely gets better!

    Im 2 weeks post partum with my second and it's hard, but like you said it's temporary, their little bodies are maturing and they need us to cope with all the changes. I'm exhausted as well but definitely sleep throughout the day when you can. We don't have family around but we have some people from church that have been a blessing. You've got this! Take care of you, you'll be able to get back to working out so soon! Not sure if you know or talked to your provider but your usually able to do some Pilates and pelvic floor exercises during the 6 weeks.

  • @louisebox1604
    @louisebox1604 Месяц назад

    The first 6 weeks are the hardest. He’ll be sleeping through very soon so you’ll have a bit more rest. Just roll with it. Be kind to yourselves. Believe me, if/when you have more children you ARE a lot more relaxed. Enjoy your family, don’t worry about other things. Shelton is adorable xx

    • @TaraLeeGee
      @TaraLeeGee Месяц назад

      I know you only meant to encourage, but many babies don't sleep through until over 1, often 2. Heck my four year old still wakes up half the time with nightmares. The sleep deprivation gets better, but the expectations shouldn't be "sleeping through the night" for a while yet! Just a set up for disappointment in my opinion

    • @louisebox1604
      @louisebox1604 Месяц назад

      @TaraLeeGee, true every child is different. Just saying my thoughts. Both of my children slept through at that point. Not setting anything/anyone up for disappointment actually.
