- My grandmother taught me decades ago how to bake authentic Austrian or German bread at home and I thought it would be fun to share it with you.
It's an older video (you might notice that I look a bit younger), but I thought it would be better to upload it here instead of letting it gather dust on my hard drive. Maybe you feel like trying something new :)
In this video I take you step by step through the making of two different bread recipes: one with yeast and the other with sourdough. I also show you how to make your own sourdough starter from scratch and show you how to feed the sourdough starter.
Believe me, once you have experienced the irresistible aroma and taste of freshly baked German and Austrian bread, you'll hardly settle for anything else.
Whether you're an experienced baker or a beginner, these easy-to-follow recipes will have you feeling like a pro in no time. So if you're tired of bland bread from the shop or crave the perfect loaf when you travel, you've come to the right place. Discover the secrets of baking authentic German bread at home and take your baking skills to a new level.

I thought this was going to be about what we call Pumpernickel, but this is great too.
A lovely acknowledgement of your grandmother.
This is bread baking for dummies and it’s exactly what I needed. Thanks so much for this Maggie! You’ve inspired me to try baking my first loaf of bread!
Thank you, I am sure it will turn out great! And if not, just give it another try… :) Let me know how it went! ♥️
Thank you, Maggi. I really enjoyed this course and learned so much. I have been baking bread for many years now but still learned many new things from you.
Well this is just absolutely lovely. Thank you for sharing this!
Delicious! Thank you for sharing Maggi. You are a wonderful teacher. I’ve always been intimidated by the bread making process but I think I’ll try it with your gentle guidance. Bake responsibility 😂 P. S. I love your haircut.
Thank you! It‘s really not that difficult once you get the hang of it. :)
😋Mmmm delicious!!! This is wonderful! Thank you, Maggi!
Thank you for this video!
Delicious!
Hallo Maggi, Great to see you back from the US. Hope everything went well and a good time was had by all. What happened to the glasses? Surgery, contacts? How is your husband doing, is everything still going well? As far as bread goes, here we are all interested in organic, whole foods etc. What about using sprouted grains and whole berries etc. as in rural rye bread? Look forward to hearing from you, still no e-mail!
I had an amazing time in the US, thank you for asking. :) It‘s an old video, and I removed the glasses because I could not get the glare under control. But I am so used to seeing me with glasses that it looks very strange to me. 🙈
Sorry, help me again with the Email, please. I think I am missing a connection here and unfortunately I can‘t really search through past messages, so I am a little bit lost. 😅
