Okay so it might sounds crazy but today I showed this video to my English teacher For the context, I'm a French student (19 y.o.) and we're expected to have a really strong level in English now for our exams at the end of the year. Recently, I used in two exams the expression "it speaks volumes", and my teacher was rather impressed because this isn't an expression she is used to see from students, so she valued it. And I explained to her that the reason why I knew it and it felt so natural to use to me was because I had seen it used in a song that I have listened for 4-5 years. And it's just one example, but considering I've known most of your lyrics by heart for 4-5 years, I think it really helped me a lot to improve my English and learn more vocabulary considering, with Touhou, the songs can be about pretty much anything. You also made me discover Schrodinger's cat before studying it in Physics, or Theseus' ship which is always good to know too. Tl;Dr : You actually helped me in school through your videos, as well as being just catchy songs to listen to and which made me discover the Touhou universe that I now love, hence why I wanted to thank you. :)
A neat headcannon i just thought of is Okina doing the teleports almost instinctually(it's straight up one of her inherent abilities) while Yukari learned by observing her and found a way to make her own portals

I was not expecting a rap battle. Even so, this is a brilliantly written, energetically performed song every bit as good as the rest of your repertoire.
Probably my favorite part is when Okina threw Yukari's past humanity right in her face. That, to me, won her the battle - Okina is Matara-jin, god of secrets and a total mess of other things, including the Big Dipper (the very same constellation the Dragon God roosts in, making her his partner by default), whereas Yukari will always be a little girl who climbed her way up the food chain with guile and brute force. Granted, in a pure slugfest, Yukari would probably win.
That’s a self-pwn. What you’re saying is that Yukari had to _grind_ for her spot- she _earned_ the right to rest on her laurels. Meanwhile Okina didn’t have to put in any sort of work. Same in a meta sense. Yukari earned her place in the pantheon. Okina doesn’t deserve to exist. >.>
While I might be misunderstanding some things, Okina is only a peer to Yukari in the sense that she can reshape Gensokyo’s landscape and power balance wholesale by herself. I’m pretty sure that’s part of what being a Sage of Gensokyo means, having the ability to completely upend it on a whim. Yukari has the edge in terms of the quality of her power, having total control over all definable boundaries that exist. Okina has the quantity to match her though, being able to use her back doors as energy conduits to spontaneously create youkai. As in, she can conceivably start making youkai and just _not stop._ It’s as dangerous a use for her special power as anything Yukari typically does with hers.
There are actually plenty of implications in Okina's name and Spell Cards and stuff that she's THE Matarajin, complete with all the aspects and syncretism this would imply... And since that would, by extension, make her Ookuninushi/Daikoku/Shiva/Mahaakaala, Omononushi/Miwa Daimyoujin, Hata no Kawakatsu, Ugajin/Uga Benzaiten, Daikiniten/Inari, Ganesha, Koujin, Taizan Fukun, Shukujin, Ena-Tenjin/Ena-Kojin and _at least_ a handful of other gods as well as several of these gods' various incarnations, she may actually very well be Yukari's peer in just about every aspect... I'd still argue that Yukari's ability to manipulate boundaries is more versatile than Okina's backdoors and life-force manipulation, but Okina may very well have quite a few abilities that she's keeping secret (much like how Yukari can do more than just manipulate boundaries, what with her basically being an arch-mage). Plus, her many incarnations give her connections to almost every faction in Gensoukyou, and the few factions she doesn't have mythological connections to she seems intent on actively making connections with... E.g., roping Flandre and the Scarlet Devil Mansion into her extensive network in Gouyoku Ibun... All in all, if Gensoukyou faces a major threat one day, like an invasion from Hell or whatever, I expect Okina to be the one to rally Gensoukyou's forces and factions under one banner.

Well, to be fair, Matarajin was a god that ripped off of many, many other gods, too, sssooo... And that's not all bad, either. You know under what other names Matarajin was known as? Okuninushi/Daikokuten, Miwa Daimyoujin and Hata no Kawakatsu... Okuninushi/Daikokuten is known for having saved The White Hare of Inaba, being the original owner of the Miracle Mallet and the friend of a very, very small god by the name Sukuna Hikona, as well as the father of Take-Minakata (Kanako's inspiration). Hata no Kawakatsu was a friend of Prince Shoutoku, (Toyosatomimi no Miko,) who commissioned Kawakatsu to invent 66 dances using 66 masks (Kokoro) after which Kawakatsu became the deified god of Noh Theatre. On top of all this, Matarajin was also known as the Yama's secretary... So yeah, Okina may look like she's ripping off a few other people, 'cuz she probably is, but she also has ties to almost every single faction in Gensoukyou and almost every single title in the Touhou Project series. (TH7: A fellow sage alongside Yukari, TH8: Personal acquaintance with Tewi, TH9: The Yama's secretary, TH10: Kanako's "dad", TH12: Guardian of the Dharma and the teachings Buddhism, TH13: Friend of Miko, TH13.5: Basically Kokoro's mom, TH14: The original owner of Shinmyoumaru's Miracle Mallet and friend of her ancestor, TH15: Arch-enemy of the Lunarians, TH17: First boss is Ebisu, one of Daikokuten's fellow members of the Seven Lucky Gods.) Edit: And then she went out of her way to rope in TH6: Flandre's benefactor and fellow goddess of destruction.

Even with Okina actually having ONE last word, Yukari has TWO(Counting AOCF's Teke-Teke LW), so Yukari still wins on Last Words. Edit: I'm forgetting the ones on Imperishable Night, so yeah, Yukari really stacks in Last Words. A whole vocabulary of them.
There's no real need for multiple Last Words since they're already extremely powerful and you'd only use one Last Word at best per fight so really, Yukari is just going out of her way to flex on others "Hey take a look at my dictionary of Last Words"
Hell, Eirin made a spell that Yukari could not break nor decipher. Yukari was outclassed real quick. She just shows up everywhere to flex on everyone. I actually find Okina a better character because unlike Yukari who screams bland manipulating bitch, Oki is a parody of the stereotype.
It's unknown if Eiki is stronger than Yukari since the quote people tend to refer to with that is vague and could either be about her, Yuyuko and Reimu's chances of beating Eiki in a battle, or any of them being able to win an argument with her... Regardless, Yukari has all but stated outright that she's stronger than the Yama "in cunning." As for Hecatia, well, she's most certainly more powerful than Yukari, but once again we don't really know if she could outsmart Yukari... 'cuz, let's be honest; the most dangerous part of Yukari isn't her omnyoudou or her boundary manipulation, it is, and will always be, her intelligence.

I will say, though- one thing I actually like about Okina, and the reason she’s sitting down all the time, is that she was originally planned to be in a wheelchair, as a statement about how sometimes disabled people can be some of the strongest people you know. Sadly that didn’t make it into her final design- honestly, if it had, I think it would’ve elevated her a lot for me; the idea that this is someone who struggled and overcame her setbacks and _earned_ her omnipotence.

I don't really see what you're going for here. Because I don't exactly remember anyone in PC-98 having a position similar to those two. And nearly everyone from PC-98 had already lost their influence in the series by the time Yukari showed up and she's still pretty active by the time Okina starts calling her shots.

That she makes Gensokyo by herself. In reality, there's multiple individual who creates Gensokyo. They're most popularly called the sages of gensokyo, with Yukari, Okina, and Kasen as one of them.

She got Okina to break form first with the “apprentice” line, and didn’t interrupt Okina’s “Merry” response, though she did sound snappish in her counter. Overall, Yukari kept a brisk rhythm going, got Okina to show weakness first, and didn’t rise to the return bait. Lost a little for Okina’s answer to the “Last Word” jab, but Yukari actually has two, so I’m ruling it in her favor.

The brags sound generic to the unknowing ear, but that's almost a necessity to keep Okina in character with her position as a Secret God: Even in the games themselves you only get a bit of information about who Okina really is, and most of it is really subtle (on the level that the biggest clues are stuff like Spell Card names and the kanji that make up her name).

I was not expecting a rap battle. Even so, this is a brilliantly written, energetically performed song every bit as good as the rest of your repertoire.
Probably my favorite part is when Okina threw Yukari's past humanity right in her face. That, to me, won her the battle - Okina is Matara-jin, god of secrets and a total mess of other things, including the Big Dipper (the very same constellation the Dragon God roosts in, making her his partner by default), whereas Yukari will always be a little girl who climbed her way up the food chain with guile and brute force.
Granted, in a pure slugfest, Yukari would probably win.

While I might be misunderstanding some things, Okina is only a peer to Yukari in the sense that she can reshape Gensokyo’s landscape and power balance wholesale by herself. I’m pretty sure that’s part of what being a Sage of Gensokyo means, having the ability to completely upend it on a whim.
Yukari has the edge in terms of the quality of her power, having total control over all definable boundaries that exist. Okina has the quantity to match her though, being able to use her back doors as energy conduits to spontaneously create youkai. As in, she can conceivably start making youkai and just _not stop._ It’s as dangerous a use for her special power as anything Yukari typically does with hers.
There are actually plenty of implications in Okina's name and Spell Cards and stuff that she's THE Matarajin, complete with all the aspects and syncretism this would imply... And since that would, by extension, make her Ookuninushi/Daikoku/Shiva/Mahaakaala, Omononushi/Miwa Daimyoujin, Hata no Kawakatsu, Ugajin/Uga Benzaiten, Daikiniten/Inari, Ganesha, Koujin, Taizan Fukun, Shukujin, Ena-Tenjin/Ena-Kojin and _at least_ a handful of other gods as well as several of these gods' various incarnations, she may actually very well be Yukari's peer in just about every aspect...
I'd still argue that Yukari's ability to manipulate boundaries is more versatile than Okina's backdoors and life-force manipulation, but Okina may very well have quite a few abilities that she's keeping secret (much like how Yukari can do more than just manipulate boundaries, what with her basically being an arch-mage).
Plus, her many incarnations give her connections to almost every faction in Gensoukyou, and the few factions she doesn't have mythological connections to she seems intent on actively making connections with... E.g., roping Flandre and the Scarlet Devil Mansion into her extensive network in Gouyoku Ibun... All in all, if Gensoukyou faces a major threat one day, like an invasion from Hell or whatever, I expect Okina to be the one to rally Gensoukyou's forces and factions under one banner.

Well, to be fair, Matarajin was a god that ripped off of many, many other gods, too, sssooo... And that's not all bad, either. You know under what other names Matarajin was known as? Okuninushi/Daikokuten, Miwa Daimyoujin and Hata no Kawakatsu... Okuninushi/Daikokuten is known for having saved The White Hare of Inaba, being the original owner of the Miracle Mallet and the friend of a very, very small god by the name Sukuna Hikona, as well as the father of Take-Minakata (Kanako's inspiration). Hata no Kawakatsu was a friend of Prince Shoutoku, (Toyosatomimi no Miko,) who commissioned Kawakatsu to invent 66 dances using 66 masks (Kokoro) after which Kawakatsu became the deified god of Noh Theatre. On top of all this, Matarajin was also known as the Yama's secretary... So yeah, Okina may look like she's ripping off a few other people, 'cuz she probably is, but she also has ties to almost every single faction in Gensoukyou and almost every single title in the Touhou Project series. (TH7: A fellow sage alongside Yukari, TH8: Personal acquaintance with Tewi, TH9: The Yama's secretary, TH10: Kanako's "dad", TH12: Guardian of the Dharma and the teachings Buddhism, TH13: Friend of Miko, TH13.5: Basically Kokoro's mom, TH14: The original owner of Shinmyoumaru's Miracle Mallet and friend of her ancestor, TH15: Arch-enemy of the Lunarians, TH17: First boss is Ebisu, one of Daikokuten's fellow members of the Seven Lucky Gods.)

Even with Okina actually having ONE last word, Yukari has TWO(Counting AOCF's Teke-Teke LW), so Yukari still wins on Last Words.

There's no real need for multiple Last Words since they're already extremely powerful and you'd only use one Last Word at best per fight so really, Yukari is just going out of her way to flex on others "Hey take a look at my dictionary of Last Words"

Hell, Eirin made a spell that Yukari could not break nor decipher. Yukari was outclassed real quick. She just shows up everywhere to flex on everyone. I actually find Okina a better character because unlike Yukari who screams bland manipulating bitch, Oki is a parody of the stereotype.
It's unknown if Eiki is stronger than Yukari since the quote people tend to refer to with that is vague and could either be about her, Yuyuko and Reimu's chances of beating Eiki in a battle, or any of them being able to win an argument with her... Regardless, Yukari has all but stated outright that she's stronger than the Yama "in cunning." As for Hecatia, well, she's most certainly more powerful than Yukari, but once again we don't really know if she could outsmart Yukari... 'cuz, let's be honest; the most dangerous part of Yukari isn't her omnyoudou or her boundary manipulation, it is, and will always be, her intelligence.

Regardless of whether Eiki is more powerful than Yukari or not, Yukari still does not fear the Yama, least of all intelligence-wise.

I will say, though- one thing I actually like about Okina, and the reason she’s sitting down all the time, is that she was originally planned to be in a wheelchair, as a statement about how sometimes disabled people can be some of the strongest people you know. Sadly that didn’t make it into her final design- honestly, if it had, I think it would’ve elevated her a lot for me; the idea that this is someone who struggled and overcame her setbacks and _earned_ her omnipotence.

He does seem to be playing with the idea a bit as of late, though, with the embodiment of disability and the deliberate wheelchair thing which’s great but could’ve been better. All in all; retract all your statements and give us impaired Okina, ZUN! (Poor guy.) ...Ah, I think the italics on earned are where I disagree again! Okina is a god, shouldn’t have to earn her omnipotence. As someone who’ve read her fair share of Kōjiki, I’ll tell: these do NOT mess around. ZUN could have Kanako defeating thousands of demon troops on the next mainline game or something and I’d clap for the mythological accuracy. Actually this might be the reason behind me not negatively minding Okina much. I read the kanji of her name and immediately accepted any Mary Sueish display of power thrown my way. "This the kind of deity ZUN trying to adapt?"

I don't really see what you're going for here. Because I don't exactly remember anyone in PC-98 having a position similar to those two. And nearly everyone from PC-98 had already lost their influence in the series by the time Yukari showed up and she's still pretty active by the time Okina starts calling her shots.

I still think Yukari won this though. She got Okina to break form first with the “apprentice” line, and didn’t interrupt Okina’s “Merry” response, though she did sound snappish in her counter.
Overall, Yukari kept a brisk rhythm going, got Okina to show weakness first, and didn’t rise to the return bait. Lost a little for Okina’s answer to the “Last Word” jab, but Yukari actually has two, so I’m ruling it in her favor.

While I agree with you that Yukari may have been ahead of Okina in the dissing part of the rap battle, (which is kind of appropriate, given that youkai exist to antagonize,) I personally I feel that Okina got more points in regards to the bragging parts of it: The more you know about Matarajin, the more you realize how brilliant Okina's first verse is... The brags sound generic to the unknowing ear, but that's almost a necessity to keep Okina in character with her position as a Secret God: Even in the games themselves you only get a bit of information about who Okina really is, and most of it is really subtle (on the level that the biggest clues are stuff like Spell Card names and the kanji that make up her name).
