A new hospital rises: 4¾ years of construction in a 5½ minute time-lapse
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 23 окт 2019
- Five years in the making, a 5½-minute #timelapse that covers 4 years and 8 months of #construction of a new hospital as it emerges within the central San Francisco skyline. Followed by a few shots of the hospital finally opening to the public early on a dark, rainy morning, and then the time-lapse ends a week later. Starts on June 30, 2014 and ends on March 9, 2019.
The speed of the time-lapse varies in some portions. In particular it is faster in the latter portions when most of the construction work is inside and the only work visible outside is the lobby/main entrance and sidewalk and street work. It slows down a bit for the tower cranes going up and coming down. Most, but not all, Sundays are omitted. Most, but not all Saturdays are included.
Camera changes over the years may be noticeable to the astute viewer. For example, in mid-2015 the camera dies and is replaced with one with a higher resolution, and in mid-2016 the camera is changed to capture a wider angle. Also the camera position and angle changes slightly over the years. I attempted to compensate for such changes, but couldn't completely eliminate their effects.
About two hours of video out of the middle of each of 1,431 days (when the sun is approximately at the same position) is sped up and all blended together. Various software was used to stabilize (along with some manual stabilization help), and to remove the fish-eye of the wide angle view, and also to reduce the flicker somewhat, but of course with something like this there is always going to be flicker.
This is a fairly fast-paced video, so you'll probably see some pixelation when watching on RUclips, especially at lower resolutions and/or when lots of clouds flow by -- not much I can do about that.
If you're interested in watching this construction in more depth, I invite you to watch the approximately 280 videos in the "Ⓗ series" of weekly time-lapses-with-closeups videos on this channel. There are weekly time-lapses, as well as various other close-up and time-lapse videos covering all those years in more detail. If you binge-watch, be sure to take a break every now and then!

Hospitals are much more complex than normal buildings, that’s why it took so long, a lot more piping, wiring, and advanced ventilation systems.
People be talkin about the actual construction and im just here thinking about the camera thats steady for 4¾ yrs
same
am i right
Great video. Such dedication! ... And I do love the choice of music. Thanks very much for the work you put in.
Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it.
I started watching this while the construction was ongoing and then life intervened. I just recalled it the other day and now I have gotten to see the completion of the hospital. Good job in putting these videos together.
Many people comment that China does it in days. Yes, but with precarious labor, without decent wages or union representation, without security or rest, in addition to being a modular hospital that will be disarmed after the pandemic.
Brah they build 50 story skyscrapers in a month in china...
@@N0xiety Brah: provide the links of the pics and video's to prove that statement. Concrete can't realistically cure fast enough to support that amount of weight for the height you claim, and the logistics of moving that amount in steel to build to that height would beggar even China. It would have to be built with no attention to structure and using the absolute worst materials possible to even have a hope of being built in a year, never mind a month. Sorry Brah, but logic, logistics, physics and architectural engineering all say that, you lose, Brah. 🙄 😂😂🤣🤣🤣

My bad, they seem to be able to do it in less than 3 weeks actually. Well, wouldn't count on the quality of it, but they sure can do it...
That editing is truly a remarkable achievement. Well done.
I Love the way you utilized the Date Gauge at the Bottom of the Video. Obviously 🙄 a Hospital is a Massive Project and delays are not Unexpected. Thanks! 👍
You make incredible videos! Thank you for the hard work
A new hospital is always a good thing, I'm happy for the city, it makes life more liveable.!😉
Thank you.
Oh wow, I really enjoyed watching the hospital go up it gave me a bit more perspective and what all it consist of building it I wish we could have saw the inside as well but just seeing the outside be built that put me in a wow.
So now I know what to expect when I have my hospital built
That's a really good camera right there. Cropping/Zooming without any visible noises !
Wow that's some HQ zoom
You should see the university of utah hospital, that place has been under construction since the beginning of time. But all jokes aside this has been a fantastic series enjoyed watching it. Your channel is criminally underrated.
I understand. An appreciate your time
Just one word: WOW (oh, and I love the way the dude raises his arms in the air when the barrier's removed from the main entrance - the erection of this hospital in just under five years was quite an achievement)
Cool the tower cranes are going amazing
Que legal poder ver a construção desta forma , parabéns pra quem teve a paciência de filmar todo o processo de construção ,amei .
Thanks for another great homemade wonder.I don't know how you do it. I would like to see whats next if you have the time .
Pretty amazing , well done
Sir I'm from India.I have been searching these types of videos since from two months. B'coz
we are building vehicle showroom (PEB) construction after searching I have seen your time lapse coverage
its mind blowing thanking you sir for information on
PEB construction.
Straight awesome
WOW! Impressive! 👍👏
Thanks
Super.
I delivered and picked up from this job site many times from 2014 through most of 2016 while I was driving truck
I play it in 2x the speed
Thanks, good idea
Me too..

Missed you.
Nice!
Hello there its been a while since I watched all your videos. I filmed the building site at the back of my office to show you how its doing. Its in my misc play list. You get to see the interior of the building and the tower cranes etc.
Built an hospital is not like an appartement block , many system must be include in those floor and walls
this comment makes no sense at all lol
Maybe 4 your small brain
How much cost building this hospital with all the medical material
Awesome documentary. Thank you for sharing. Amazing footage. I'm curious though. Who paid for this filming and who sponsored all the energy needed to put all the filming and massive video editing together. Who are you? Why did you do it?
Thanks a bunch whoever you are. I loved it.
Short answer is... it is a hobby. A kind of expensive one that loses way more money than it makes.
@@HospitalConstruction Well thank you for sharing the fruits of your time with us. I hope you get as much out of it as we do.
@@HospitalConstruction Nice job. And appreciated.
Crane sword fight!
WOW, under 5 years !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi can i hust ask a question why are there steel bars in the windows ? (from china)
what windows are you referring to? time stamp please and i can help
It's finally done. 5 years of effort. I feel like that 2.1b and 5 years was far more than what was needed for this. Looks more like a 1b project with a 3 year time-frame. Oh well.
just finished in time to crack a CORONA
Cool i Like time lapse 😱
WHO Are u?
My wife just had a transplant in that new hospital a month ago. TOP NOTCH
Hope she's doing well!
@@HospitalConstruction thank you so much.
Whose the construction company?
Hi. Can I ask which camera you used to capture this please.
The time-lapse portion (not the closeups) was various GoPros (one died part way through).
are you going to make any more videos? mabie on a different construction?
Insanely awesome... 💝
Can I know how u able to fix the camera focusing to a particular point for 4 years??!
CCTV mate
@@Corbych Thank you.
how about the incredible zoom though?

Come on down to Texas where we can build these in about 9 months, turned over to the owner, final CofO's in hand!!
Yeah 4 years is too long for project this size
I need this camera, powerful zoom power and clear
nice
It sure took someone a lot of time to remove the barriers around the building after the hospital was Opened. 🤔🙄🧐
I was the first patient, I litterally went in the ER when they opened
Hope you're doing well!
how many GoPro's gave their lives to the making of this epic undertaking ?
For this specific video, two GoPros gave their lives (one of them exactly one week after the construction ended). For the channel as a whole, two GoPros gave their lives, and one still works, while one video camera gave its life and three other video cameras still work.
it take almost 5 years to build a hospital ?
The cctv zoom 👍

Ilike!
And also adding the glass panel to the building
Good 👍🏥🏥
If only they could be built in that time
if in Asia we build a large and spacious hospital and there are various other buildings besides the main building, while in Europe and America the hospital buildings are big but the land space is very small and everything is inside the hospital
Finally....
Been following this series for a while. Bravo ! What cameras did you use for this one. GoPros from the comment below ? The resolution seems super high even with 8x zoom.
For clarification: The main timelapse in this video was via GoPros, but the closeups of the opening at the end were by separate video cameras with zoom lenses.
Lol.. we build 1,300 foot sky scrapers in NYC in 18 months.
A long time - about 3:48 in a tree in the middle of the road disappears--at 5:16 they put in trees - thanks!!!!
Most of the trees in the center of the avenue were removed to make way for a future "bus rapid transit" lane. A few were saved, but most are being replaced by new trees over by the sidewalks.
Great observation.
Nobody:
The Camera holds the Battery for 4 years
Actually... the cameras are on AC power most of the time, of course. But, interestingly, the batteries still do wear out... went through 3 batteries during those 5 years. I found that over a long time the batteries slowly expand (bulge out) until eventually they won't fit in the camera any more and have to be replaced!
@@HospitalConstruction you need a Tesla battery brother
Might have trouble fitting those Tesla batteries into the camera!
wow November 11, 2013 to Oct 24, 2019
to demo the hotel and build the hospital- is that about right Wow
2020 COVID19 im gonna ruin this whole man's career
We could make a video in the same style about closing hospitals in Russia. Actually soon we will be able to make a video in the same style about closing Russia as well))
Wow hospitals twice as big as that are built in under 2 years in Texas. Probably cheeper too.
Originally, The Hospital Was Supposed to be Completed by Late 2017, But Delayed to Early 2019
Perfect timing
I know that you said and your introductions that you weren't a construction worker or anything to do with a hospital but I'd like to know has any professionals inboxed you pertaining the building of the hospital it will be great if I could speak with some I would love to get their insight and direction on constructive criticism on my build
Thank you
Back at the time, I had a few informal contacts. I no longer have any contacts of any kind.

You didn't show them restoring road access on the right! jk thanks!
How much does it cost?
If you mean how much it cost to build, my understanding is $2.1 billion. If you mean how much it costs to be treated there, well that's a different question!!!
@@HospitalConstruction Thank you, I am referring to the building consruction.
@@HospitalConstruction with current medical costs, cooperate recouped the build cost in a month
@@Roofluffer To put a stint in my heart took the hospital one day, and cost me $75,000 and took me 8 years to pay that bill. I still owe them.
Welder Sandblaster seriously??? Your health insurance could have covered for your bill.

Tower crane comes down
This Hospital May be Also Used for COVID-19 Patients.
5:48 it's the same as building a shopping center or a luxury place for the Good class but the problem is, how do you want to park a car when there is no parking available
Most people who live in San Francisco don’t drive, but there is parking available within walking distance.
Underground parking.
4years and 8 months?
Yes, 4 3/4 minus a month

Only in San Francisco would it take 5 years to build this.
Time managment नहीं है
And I bet they didn't build enough parking...
For some reason, hospitals *_never_* have enough parking!
The city limited the parking, it was included in the build permit
@@johndavidson4128 Well, the city is stupid, then! Hospitals never have enough parking!!!
@@HungryGuyStories you are right, the hospital employees park about a mile away and take a shuttle bus. There is only 3 levels of parking .
@@HungryGuyStories it is SF after all
@@johndavidson4128 It's everywhere! Every hospital, no matter where, never has enough parking!

Нет по телевизору значит и небыло ничего.
4 years ??? newbe
Nice building, but man that's a long time to build something that isn't that big...
its a area where acceability isnt the best so it everything takes a bit longer
Arty. Ever been to SF?
I can't believe you built that building out of steel. Haven't you heard? If you have a furniture fire the building will fall down!!!
a special comment said by a very special person. As it contains both ignorance and sheer stupidity
@@Roofluffer But its funny seeing what the stupid people think. The dumb are very amusing to watch. It would be boring without them, but a lot more peaceful.
5 years?...
Thank God I live in Houston. Big hospitals in every quadrant of the city. Especially all the smaller hospitals in between all the big hospitals . All go up in no time.
