  • In order to be successful, energy transition needs to take into account the societal dimension. Energy poverty is a major social phenomenon in Europe, reflecting increasing inequalities. Moreover, energy access is a widespread issue in the world.
Despite the SDGs, energy poverty remains a crucial issue worldwide. Energy transition, on the other hand, is the ongoing energy transformation process that could result in worsening existing energy poverty patterns if it fails to be framed in a fairer and more inclusive perspective. But it also represents opportunities to develop alternative energy models and to use clean and affordable energy technologies to help people cover their energy needs.
In a one-day workshop CIFE students of the Master in Global Energy Transition and Governance tackled the question of the nexus between energy poverty and energy transition from different point of views.
