  • So the plan is to document this engine and new technology and to share and learn about it as it directly relates to the new EFI platform of the SX line of the 250 and 300 SX as well.
    I’m going to go over the TPS circuit, check squish clearance, and discuss future mods and what NOT to do with this engine.
    Great to see new technology advances in the MX community!
    * I said it was a closed loop system however it appears that it is an open system*

    I have a 23 TX300 that I got rid of the combo start stop switch, Enduro Engineering has a kit that plugs right in and goes back to the separate stop start switchs like on the earlier models.

    The PV code that is thrown is actually not an issue for how the bike is running. It is basically the same as when you disconnect the airbag on your car - even if you reconnect it and all is fine, the error code (and light on the dash) is remaining until cleared manually. On the 2023 TBI what happens is that the ECU issues a PV command and has a time frame where it expects it to be completed (PV has a position sensor for feedback). This time frame is obviously a bit short for certain situations and that's when the code is thrown. In the case of the start button causing it the reason seems clear - both PV actuator and starter motor (even with the engine running) are a big load on the electrical system. So both running at the same time will cause enough of a current drop to slow down the PV actuator and thus dropping out of the expected time frame. KTM will issue an update fixing that but until then there is not much you can do other than either riding the bike or have the dealer clear the code. Could be worse ...

      Agreed! I have heard in some cases however that with the code flashing, the engine performed poorly and was acting like it was in "limp home" mode. I was not able to determine if this was due to the start button being hit while the engine is running, or it was a different issue all together but there seems to be some small bugs here and there that will pop up with any bike.
      My friends 300sx had a "hard starting" blink code and it did not effect anything at all other than being a visual annoyance. Thx for posting-

      @@themotocrossmodchannelWulfMX Well, there is always the option that something really is wrong with the PV - either electronically or mechanically - thus making it feel like in limb mode. I wonder how many of the previous generations PVs were not working properly and most never noticed! Looking forward to your findings and subscribed 👍

    It's all going to be interesting..I have a new 300sx..at this stage I havent been able to get to the dealer and pick up the bike yet though... The guy from two stroke performance here in Victoria Australia has done some initial dyno runs on the 125 and it seems to be around two and a half horsepower at peak, down on the 22 model..he has a RUclips channel with a video,on that. My boss at my local track where I work on weekends got a ride on a 23 husky 125 last weekend..he was underwhelmed to say the least. It seemed very flat on top and a bit gurgly down low..to my eye ...it just did not bark and pull like a 22...no idea if the owner was running the correct fuel and oil at the right ratio..
    So this new fuel injection format might take a while to reach max potential...looking forward to the first ride on my 300

      I spoke to TSP yesterday, and I agree, I am underwhelmed with the power output....I dyno'd this with 8 pulls, and I am in the middle of documenting the findings and presenting them to the KTM rep. I have low rwhp with the fixed ECU monitoring the AF and that was @ 18:1, 93 octane, 40/1, good tps, good pv, updates done.
      Lucky for you, the 23' 300sx is an animal, there are a few guys here and there that have small complaints but the engine for sure is a winner, just make sure you stick to the manual on the 60/1 and octane rating it says and don't stray away from that.
      Good luck and post results- thx for posting- Joshua

      @@themotocrossmodchannelWulfMX well someone will come up with a cure I suppose..but its crazy that the bike could be released with this problem..glad I didntvbuy a 125. I actually have a brand new 22 yz 125 with a tsp head and ignition as well as an fmf system. Had it about 5 months and still haven't fitted those parts or done anything else to the bike , including ridingvit🙄🙄 Been working 7 days a week . That changes in 23...will be riding a lot. Will be interesting to see how the tsp parts work on my yz. Have his cylinder head on my yz 250...great improvement

    With the new technology, it almost sounds like the ultimate production class race bike, as the electronics can't compensate for any motor or bolt on modifications?

    • @themotocrossmodchannelWulfMX
      @themotocrossmodchannelWulfMX  Год назад +2

      Right now, it can't compensate for internal modifications that effect the volumetric efficiency of the motor but bolt on mods for reeds or an exhaust are ok. I will post a video(s) soon of a bone stock run and then the runs after the bolt ons to see what we get.
      The pipe usually shifts the power and doesn't ever add a major amount of hp, same goes for the reeds. They do add a little bit but not earth shattering numbers of increased tq or hp.

    Ive had the pv light since my first or second ride 23 tx300. Im at 70hrs now and had a crash last week after the crash it seems my starter broke.The off switch smashed and start button semi jammed also my map switch started to flash green and wouldn't change. It seems like the bike got stuck between maps bike wouldn't run into the higher revs. I limped the bike out and heard it try start itself a couple of times while i was riding. Tryed disconnecting the map switch on the way out to see if it would help but nothing. My bike is now out of action waiting on the dealer to reopen im hoping the ecu got confused somehow and can be reset to fix.

    You should be able to put a bigger injector in and a different resister to adjust fuel flow

    • @themotocrossmodchannelWulfMX
      @themotocrossmodchannelWulfMX  Год назад +2

      If the injector is larger I don't think it will matter bc you can't tell the ECU to send more fuel to compensate for the larger orifice like a traditional carb with jets, it will still only send the same amount of fuel. The carb acts on vacuum, the TBI is forced injected. Not sure on the resistor angle? Did you mean restrictor? Thanks for posting-

    Wondering what ratio do you mix these and I thought I seen some place to use 98 octane gas ?? Where do you get 98 octane

    • @themotocrossmodchannelWulfMX
      @themotocrossmodchannelWulfMX  Год назад

      manual specs 98 oct unleaded @40:1 with a JASO FD spec'd oil. Look that up bc it's very specific to a premium rated premix. The JASO FD is a Japanese rating system that certifies oils so they are graded and offer the best engine protection. The 250/300sx specs 95 oct unleaded and 60/1. Thx for posting, please subscribe!!

    • @themotocrossmodchannelWulfMX
      @themotocrossmodchannelWulfMX  Год назад

      Well in the world of the 125 motors, these bikes are, well, all about the motors and there is always an opportunity to find areas of improvement and adjust some small things to get it to run as best as it can.
      There are no ECU changes that can be made like on a carb where you can swap out jets or whatnot so really, there is no current way to tune it other than bolt ons.
      Not sure of your bikes and what you have done to them but almost every bike I have ever seen has has some sort of tuning done to it to get it to run and work better for the rider...rejet, a reed system, fuel etc. What kind of bike do you have?

    How much does the electric power valve gizmo cost? You'll be crying in three years when it's bad, expensive and on backorder. It's new and cool now but a bummer when it fails and it runs like a turd. Newer isn't always better, it's just different. It will be a parts bike before it's 10 years old.

      In answer to your question, the electronic PV actuator which regulates the pv opening and closing is $177.
      To compare, the 23' YZ125 pv governor is $190, so boom.
      All bikes have issues, new, old, and I'm not sure why you are saying this and bashing the bike and in particular the PV system? So what bike do you ride?

    • @brianmartin414
      @brianmartin414 Год назад +2

      @@themotocrossmodchannelWulfMX not bashing this bike at all. It's becoming a throw away world. We all love new tech until it doesn't work. Electronically controlled exhaust servos aren't new and have been failing for years. It's $177 now, but watch in 3 years what that price becomes.
