  • The Vancouver Canucks drama ramped up after GM Jim Rutherford publicly admitted to a locker room rift. With Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller rumoured to be at the centre of the controversy, would the team winning complicate or simplify a potential trade? TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins Gino Reda to discuss on The Talking Point.

The real fix for the prolem is for the two players to stop their juvenuile behavior and help the team win games. The two are wasting the hard work of Quin Hughes.

Is it just me or does TSN only cover the Canucks when things go bad?

      Better than CBC covering Toronto.

Will never listen to what Craig Button says about the Canucks after his antics last playoffs.

Jesus. Let them be so they can play hockey. Canucks are a team oozing with talent. Too much for their own good. But once they get their heads straight and fire on all cylinders they can’t loose. Go Canucks!!!

Simplify. If the Canucks go on a winning run down the stretch they won’t be trading either player for now

don’t change anything, let it play out, if changes need to be made, make them in the offseason. is that so hard? why are we so quick to give up on this team and this core? we had a fantastic year last year. We were dealing with many injuries and issues this year, and demko didn’t even get the whole summer to be ready for the season, he was just trying to recover from his knee. I don’t understand the rush to completely dismantle this core, i think it’s absolutely ridiculous

Sounds like CanucksNate second account! Like you guys experience the only injuries in professional sports ……And, you overachieved last season

@ So i’m wrong for not giving up on my team who’s in a first place wild card spot? I do see how the team is immature and they must definitely be letting outside noise get to them. I just don’t think trading our best players on a down season for them is a good solution. As of today we have a full lineup and I just believe in this core enough to not throw it away that easily

Is Tocchet the right person for the team when he has not solved it?
Clearly, a captain like Mats Sundin would never have stood for Miller's antics.
Give EP40 three more years to build 5-10 kg hockey-specific muscle mass. That is all.
Without injuries. Will be a beast. Miller has peaked is showing discontent and hypocrisy.

mats sundin couldnt stand for 20+ games as he caved to coming to vancouver just to wrap-up his career 'cuz they kept throwing so much money at him to do it - but what a waste of $ he didnt do anything just skate around with sedins a few games then quit/retire

@@wuhaninstituteofvirology Mmmkay there buckaroo. I was not even thinking about the season with Canucks. Even now Sundin would not stand for Miller's behaviour and put him in his place. There is not enough 'pedagogical alpha' and proven superstars in the room currently. And most importantly, kneel down. I was chosen by heaven, say my name when you pray. Mmmmkay? Ok.

At this point, it shouldn't change anything. We've seen this song and dance before, going back to Travis Green. They go on a run, everything looks great, and then we hear about a rift in the locker room that leads to losing, a coaching change, maybe a trade of someone who turns out wasn't the problem, and the whole cycle repeats itself. I know everyone loves the way JT plays at his best, but he's the common denominator in all of these problems. He's the one who was suspended by the team for his behaviour. I didn't know that shaming and blaming victims went on in hockey and wasn't just a lady thing.

My only thing is it may be better to make a trade at the draft or the offseason. Right now they won’t get any value for him so let them play out the season at this point and see if teams interest grows as this story dies or becomes less prevalent.

Watched the Preds game last night - let these 2 babies work it out... Trade 2025 1st round & Hoglander for Ryan O'Reilly & go for it while QH is a Canuck.

Winning three straight games doesn’t change much about the Canucks as they’re barely in a playoff spot pending the outcome of the Thursday Pacific Time Ducks-Flames game.

Is simplifies things. If JT Miller's value goes up closer to the trade deadline, he's easier to move, for more in return. Regardless, this trade won't make them a SCP contender.

@@glgl7676 - He has apparently made it clear that he wants out. I'm sure that the team and his agent have that list and there are offers on the table already.
