@@Cynthia20043you call that evolution? I call it corporations turning football clubs into the PR arm for their morally dubious, planet-destroying, politician-lobbying, tax evading greed. Filling their stadiums with corporate partners shovelling down canapes and veuve clicquot while their loyal fans have to enter ballots for the chance to buy a ticket. If that's evolution to you, I'd hate to see what your idea of the game betraying every value it was founded on and what that would look like.
@@Cynthia20043 I don't agree, as Jordan speaks a lot of sense about this issue. He has rightly pointed out that all of the Prem League clubs signed up to these spending restrictions but some of them ignored it. He has said on a number of occasions that he doesn't actually agree with these rules but they are what they are and that all of the clubs need to abide by them or get together again and change them.

@@findingaether those players won't be on the market any time soon with their contract lengths, because they'd be unlikely to get what they paid back, and under FFP they need to be a few years down the line for an 'acceptable' loss to be made as I understand it. The most likely players to be sold are those that came through the academy or were bought for lower fees that might be sold for more. They have to make £100m profit on that basis by the end of June if I remember right.
Other clubs will know how desperate chelsea are to sell so not getting anything near what they value there players , gonna be hilarious 😂😂😂

The solution seems pretty simple to me. If a club appeals a judgement and the panel consider it to have provided nothing relevant or that's not already considered at the original hearing, they increase the punishment. That'll cut out frivolous appeals pretty quickly.
And who gets to make that judgement. What a stupid solution that could easily lead to corruption.

Every single organisation in this country has its own rules, policies, procedures etc and people who breach them are disciplined. Was just gonna say that. I've made a few comments on guardian football articles about City's FFP investigation and they've been deleted. I'm now convinced that City's lawyers are threatening legal action against any media source that reports it. Hope they get relegated to the National League which would be no more than they deserve.

Forget P&S punishment I want to hear what Stafan thinks about how Chelsea are going to cope over the next 7-8 years with the consequences of their £1bn spree. It seems to me that Chelsea overspent but thought that they'd bring enough money in to cover it, but as we've seen they're actually doing far worse. It looks like they'll finish in a similar position to last season, meaning no european football next season either. It seems like they could be in a vicious cycle, not being able to sell these players but those players not capable of more than mid-table football. With the new PL TV deal coming in, for less than previous seasons and combined with inflation on players transfer fees it looks like Chelsea's clever move is going to be a stone around their necks.
Correct me if I'm wrong but... How can Forest having points deducted relegated Luton/any club... Surely it can only benefit them?

Arsenal bought Kai Havertz for £65m and Manchester United bought Mason Mount for £55m in the last year of his contract. Chelsea don’t even need the Saudi’s to bail them out. The Premier League teams are doing a great job of that

Most team will wait to after the 31'st of june to bid for gallagher. That way chelsea get deducted points & they still need to sell. Gallagher's contract is also expiring so his value is still declining.

It was always clear to me that Chelsea had taken a major gamble to get back into the Champions League places and get back the all important trophy revenue. If they don't, they need to sell, sell, sell.

After Everton's appeal, I wouldn't worry about breaking FFP if I were Chelsea. 6 point deduction is hardly a deterrent. I wouldn't be surprised if most clubs regard FFP punishments as rather toothless now and so deliberately go out of their way to break it in order to strengthen their squads with better and more expensive players. Just factoring in the loss of 6 points on appeal as part of the risk factor.

Stephan is an excellent guest, clear and concise explanations. Any breaches of FFP/PSR are easy for clubs to predict and avoid as long as they are reasonable and don't make over-optimistic predictions of e.g. league placing or European football. Any breach therefore is simple cheating and has a victim (rival teams).
I think we’re heading towards a serious collisions with the board (the fans) Todd is starting to look like he’s on thin ice at the moment.
I remember Simon on this show absolutely shooting down the prospect of Chelsea overspending. He said no they have worked within their budget. The bloke is clueless and you finally get someone in the show who can show Simon up. It is funny how Simon was quite quiet during this interview.

I can seriously see this being the biggest collapse of a club since Leeds in 2004. Chelsea are facing permanent ruin. There is absolutely no way they can get back to the Abramovich days again. The likes of Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd, Newcastle and as much as it displeases me to say this even Tottenham are all going to swarm around like vultures and sign their players for next to nothing.

@kunimitsune177 they do, kind of. They are allowed to lose less money than long term prem teams. I think forest can only lose £60ish mill over 3 years. Logic being championship clubs have lower outgoings so any season spent in the championship allows for less loss per year
@@John...44... I would argue that promoted teams need an additional allowance so they can spend and give themselves a chance of staying up. Unfortunately, since those things have to be voted on by the 20 clubs who are already in the PL, it'll never get passed. We're likely to see a big problem with promoted teams' chances over the next few years until they come up with a good way to deal with the problem. If I were them, I'd try eg signing undervalued players from minor markets, possibly in Jan before promotion, to get them used to the English game, possibly as loans with obligation to buy if promotion is confirmed. If Brighton can sign Enciso, a top Championship club can sign a player like him.

Also maatsen and broja the 2 mentioned have set fees at around £35m so the buying club could probably save £5m if they pay before June 30th doesn’t change much about Chelsea’s target

He misses a few points of income since last accounts. He has never written in the InfiniteAthlete deal in to this year or any of the satellite sponsorships that are all currently unknown until July’s reports. IA is supposedly £40mil, potentially another £5mil-£15mil from global partnerships, £35mil for Maatsen all but agreed and I think the owners know something about Saudi. The fact there’s no leaks out of Chelsea of concern suggests this isn’t that murky

I think that the people at Chelsea know more than these 3 and specifically the ex City chancer waffling on about stuff everyone else already knows. Chelsea will probably sell Maatsen, Broja, Chalobah...plus theres an obligated fee for Hall...and some other fringe players may well leave as well. Even if they dont sell them all by June 30th...it seems they'll be ok and I'd suggest that they do not need to sell Gallagher. The issue with him is that he'll have one year left this summer and if they cant agree a contract extension they'll have to sell to avoid losing him for zero in 2025
Yes the clubs voted for this but didn't believe the punishment would be this tough.
Their arrogance is beyond belief it's not the PL fault it's the clubs who fail FFP and PSR who have caused this chaos and again the people running these clubs are risking the future of some very big clubs in our game.

When we broke FFP the fine totalled 12 points, transfer ban, free agents and loanees were the only signings allowed, and a salary cap of 6k per week. We are in our 4th year of transfer embargoes as well and a year of following unachievable financial targets. PL embrace efl rules but don't enforce it for the big clubs.
Of course Chelsea would deny their situation; they’re over a barrel and other clubs will rinse them in the market. Their accounts are a matter of public record and there will be nowhere to hide.
Stopped listening to this guy when he included Lewis halls fee which Newcastle haven’t even paid yet. So if they trigger it , it would be in June not for last year

If they can't make the deadline because other clubs won't pay the price it seems to me they would be daft to sell anyone they want to keep after the deadline. So if anyone wants these players they might be well advised to do a deal early. Just another way of looking at it!
